Ok so maybe I was just evil minded last night but I thought two other things were freakin funny also. 1. When poor drunk Joe is being helped to the car after he has been 'floured' and stuff and there are two of the bros helping him and Joe gets smacked head first into a wooden pole. That was sad but I laughed. evil i know. 2. When the under 21 crowd in Vegas went to that lil playhouse club thing. I just thought that was so funny; suckers! I figured they'd order a stripper or something in their hotel room. Oh well, who knows what they ended up doing. |
Dude, Joe stumbling up to his house was hilarious, I've been that drunk before, and I've seen plenty of people tht drunk before, the three pledges that took him out did an awesome job gettin him tanked
|
Yeah I was laughing the whole episode, ie. Joe getting attacked and Joe hitting his head on that pole. As for the photos/scavenger hunt-- they were complaining about it, I thought it looked like fun! I wouldn't have minded that, and the fact they were complaining about the sun beating down on them and not wanting sunburn?-- well, I love the sun so I would have been enjoying it! Though, I don't know how many things were on the list and how hard they were to get so I can't really be on their case that much about that. I too still like Matt and Casey the best out of the brothers.

Well there was one thing for each letter to spell out the frat... so...
D E L T A O M E G A C H I right? so by my primative calculations...13? thats a cake walk and memories made in sin city, jeez some pledges are so ungratefull !! |
I love Matt and Casey because they're always so cheerful about everything... they just seem to have amazing positive attitudes. :) And Casey's cute.
The photo scavenger hunt really didn't seem that tough... I think doing something like that would be fun and a good way to bond with the pledge class. I loved the editing showing the 21+ crowd at the Maxim party, and the other guys... it was hilarious. |
Loved the kidnap - the silhouettes jumping Joe was a great shot.
That scavenger-list thing didn't sound as painful as the pledges were making it out to be - although that depends on what the other items on the list were. The cutting between the Maxim party and the under-21 crowd was well done. $10 says those four go out and get fake IDs ASAP ;) |

Whoops, yeah forgot that they showed that paper! Yeah, so like I said, then I really don't think it was as bad as they were making it seem on camera. With all of them working together, they should have completed it easily. |
seriously , especially with six hours, it shoulda been really easy, kinda lame that they cried so much
|
I know! Isn't that the truth? They woke up Friday morning with no clue what was going on. Saturday morning they were in VEGAS, for FREE, at the PALMS.
Anytime anyone wants to do that for ME, I'll run around the city in my underwear for 6 hours. Stupid pledges.. They'll get theirs. Just wait. ;) C |
Show is O.k.
For one I think don't like the idea of having fraternity rituals and stuff on T.V. Also It is very hard to measure how people are really going to react when they have cameras following them everywhere. Just doesn't seem honest to me, but of course everyone has their opinion.
|
seriously running around vegas and taking pictures is like a fun brotherhood retreat idea or a date party idea or somthing, its not that frickin bad... But I do hope they get thiers =)

that was the best moment of the show. |
it's an interesting twist that the guys are more interesting than the girl this time....or at least so far.
|
So far I like FL2 better than SL this time. Maybe that's because the girls get in fights over really petty things, i.e. hogging one of the cars. At this point, Robbie seems really stuck on himself and on a power trip just because he's secretary.
BTW, I'm also a fan of Casey and Matt because they're great leaders in the house. |
The reason this season is so much better than last is b/c #1, the guys are FAR more attractive (OK, just Casey, but that's my opinion), and #2, it's not all about playing the pranks on the girls next door. By the way, there is another Delta Omega Chi...at my alma mater!
|
Also there has yet to be a 30 minute segment about a pledge breaking up with his GF. Woohoo!
C |
Now, call me crazy, but i thought the fact that FL and SL were at the same college last year and they were able to play pranks and have drama on each other added a little spice to the show. Other wise it woulda been 6 episodes of Earl crying, and who really wants to see that? I think the biggest problem with this SL is that the people in it are really kinda boreing and even when there is drama its not drama that I care how it gets resolved, like with the car situation it just made me want to slap both of them and take away the SUV, although i like val, she seems like a badass

I know the show just started, but Robbie needs to chill.
Time for the weekly FL Tool awards: This week's award goes to Robbie. Dude, Jon did everything but kiss your butt to make up and all you can say is that he has to "prove" he can be a loyal friend to you. You seriously need to GET OVER YOURSELF. Poor Bryan- Sorry we only got to meet you for 2 seconds. Thanks for playing our game. We have some nice parting gifts for you. So with Jon and Robbie as rommates who wants to bet that they will kill each other before season's end? |
Good to see that Delta Omega Chi doesn't haze. They have a pretty interesting definition of what hazing is then if "beach olympics" at 4:30am aren't considered hazing. And calling the pledges "maggots?" Oh geez... I was kinda disappointed that no one really seemed to care that Bryant dropped.
|
DOC,
I gotta give you guys credit. Pretty ballsy stunts to be doing with pledges on TV. Beach calisthentics? Forced run behind a car? If we had pulled that crap at A&M, we'd have had our charter pulled so fast it woulda made our heads spin. Jon and Robbie? You BOTH are at fault. I dont' think it's cool that the mediation turned into Jon just admitting he was wrong. Yeah the guy's a loud-mouthed ass, and he shouldn't have talked behind Robbie's back, but Robbie dude, seriously, chill. If you keep gettin that pissed over little things you're gonna have a stroke before you're 21. Jon apologized for what he said, you need to apologize for being a schizoprhenic with little man's disease. And oh lord, now we've got the FL pledges talkin bout respect and disrespect. Kitso KS 361 laps up that hill Jon needs to do.....he's got bigger man-tits than some of my ex's |
SL - boring; FL - doing stuff.
Seems like the Sorority girls are pretty boring, so far. Seems like they could have talked to the poor girls who was too busy to attend anything before they kicked her out. Maybe lay it on the line, and "you've got one more chance."
The FL guys have some great conflicts and personality glitches, and they're doing more than just talking. I think the little guy really got picked on in HS, and now he's away from home and away from the HS bullies - and he's not going to let it happen again. The big guy annoys me too. |
K seriously Jon is a whiner and a shit talker, id prolly have killed him.
Robbi- he needs to chill way the fuck out I'd seriously just stick these two in a backyard and let them thunderdome it until they resolve everything. cause sometimes bros just have to kick each others asses. Bryant- Cya, good riddance is what I always say (then again when i was squiremaster i got half our squires to depledge, opps) Kevin- Seems to be the sleeper super pledge in the long run And my personal favorites this week were Lum and Ravi, way to lay the smack down on the pledges. I also liked the line "this is my first quarter as a pledge marshal and You guys are making me look like a dumbass" Wow sounds like something outta my book =) And Ravi reminds me of an alum of ours that comes back. He like joined the army right outta HS and then came to college and pledged, and really really likes to come back and play with the pledges. As far as hazing goes, Horseshit, thats not hazing. Thats just good old bonding stuff. The fact that they didnt HAVE To and coulda stopped implies that it isnt hazing, its pledging. |

Second, have you ANY idea what hazing is?!?! Here is a link for ya! Just saying "you don't HAVE to" doesn't lift responsiibility from the group...if it is coercsion and done with intent to make you feel that you have to do it in order to gain admittance or acceptance into an organization, then it is against the law. You don't have to LIKE the law or AGREE with the law...but you do have to COMPLY with the law. |
California Anti Hazing Law
Here it is:
32050. As used in this article, "hazing" includes any method of initiation or preinitiation into a student organization or any pastime or amusement engaged in with respect to such an organization which causes, or is likely to cause, bodily danger, physical harm, or personal degradation or disgrace resulting in physical or mental harm, to any student or other person attending any school, community college, college, university or other educational institution in this state; but the term "hazing" does not include customary athletic events or other similar contests or competitions. Doesn't matter whether the pledges "agree to it" or not...it is still against the law because all that beach stuff was intended to disgrace and degrade. Period. Bonding my ASS! |
While I agree that technically the pledges were getting hazed, I know of fraternities that do far worse and get away with it. This seemed way mild, so I don't see the need to throw the book at them. The pledges are fine, and it looks as if they were brought closer together through the experience.

[B]Okay, first off...your "sleeper super pledge" ends up depledging along with Marty before the end of the season...so so much for that! Does anyone else find it kind of strange that so many of their pledges are dropping? I know at my school out of our pledge class of like 35 we might have 4 drop and it is all like the first week when they find out how much it is. It just seems kind of wierd to me that they have already had 2 drop with maybe one more next week and then with kevin and marty dropping like amazinglagirl said. That is like half their pledge class dropping and who knows if more will as well. It just seem to me that something must be wrong. I think it kind of seems even more strange because the brothers do not even care. kind of like they expected them all to drop and only have 2 left. I don't know just seems really wierd. |

I wonder if having the cameras there makes them more apt to quit. Something about knowing that this will all be aired on television probably makes them re-think some of the things the brothers are making them do. I wonder what it'd be like if the cameras weren't on them at all. Would they have all stuck it out? Though it's possible that some of them are there just because of the cameras. It's interesting to think about their motives.

I'm fully confident if Mr. S (wonder whtat that stands for) had tried to pull that stuff on any of our founding classes, dude would have been jumped.
If guys are dropping out of this house, good for them. Making you get up and do this stuff on the day of a midterm is crap. They weren't coerced to do it? Why were folks outside bitching about him not going if it wasn't expected? Will they end up with a tight brotherhood with the 4-5 guys they end up with? Probably. Are there other means to the same end? Definitely. |

blah, that hazing stuff is all nonsense, as long as it isn't done maliciously or pose any direct threat to thier saftey, and it is done with purpose and isnt done for some stupid reason, and the actives/alums have done the same thing before, in my opinion it isnt hazing and I think its lame to call it such.
Amazinglagirl- why are ya gettin all sassy with me? sorry i made a bad prediction about kevin, oh well, and that sucks about marty he seemed kinda cool, but oh well those are the breaks. How do you know they depledge though is my question, and why ya gotta ruin the surprise for me =( |

Look.. Some organizations bond through sewing their little sisters pillows and some organizations bond through going through the SAME stuff everyone else has gone though.
I am not here to argue with anyone.. DOC is just not one of those pillow sewing orgs. THAT DIFFERENCE IS WHY THERE ARE MANY DIFFERENT ORGANIZATIONS. The difference between California State Law, and most University laws, is that for a state law violation there MUST BE A VICTIM. This is not the case in University rulebook violations. Luckily for us, we don't have to deal with the University because we are temporarily off campus. (Funny how that worked out. ;) There is no state law violation because there is no pledge/ex-pledge stating OH MY I WAS HAZED. If we were a student recognized org we COULD be in violation for rulebook violations, but we aren't so we can't. As for State violations TRUST me when I say there is none. In response to everyone else.. if you disagree then don't pledge DOC. If you don't, then you understand what those guys are going though. I don't care either way.. but the differences are what make every org different. Casey BTW GPB girls.. making your poor pledges sing your Riders of the Night song (IN MY EYES) is JUST as much hazing as having to do a couple of pushups in the sand. :) It is all the same.. just a different perspective. |

2) How is us sewing a pillow not "doing the same thing that everybody has done before?" |
California statutes for reference
Cal Ed Code § 32050. "Hazing" As used in this article, "hazing" includes any method of initiation or preinitiation into a student organization or student body or any pastime or amusement engaged in with respect to these organizations which causes, or is likely to cause, bodily danger, physical harm, or personal degradation or disgrace resulting in physical or mental harm, to any pupil or other person attending any school, community college, college, university, or other educational institution in this state . The term "hazing" does not include customary athletic events or other similar contests or competitions. § 32051. Hazing prohibited No student, or other person in attendance at any public, private, parochial, or military school, community college, college, or other educational institution, shall conspire to engage in hazing, participate in hazing, or commit any act that causes or is likely to cause bodily danger, physical harm, or personal degradation or disgrace resulting in physical or mental harm to any fellow student or person attending the institution. The violation of this section is a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of not less than one hundred dollars ($ 100), nor more than five thousand dollars ($ 5,000), or imprisonment in the county jail for not more than one year, or both. ================================================== === While you may not have a victim yet (btw- there's no mention of a victim in the statutes.... I don't have time to look through the case law to see how it's applied), that doesn't mean that no one would ever turn you in. What about one of those many pledges that dropped out b/c they didn't want to deal with the BS? What would keep them from suing? Just because no one's stepped up and had the balls to say "this isn't right and i'm going to do something about it" doesn't mean that there will never be anyone. I also don't know what the statute of limitations on this particular law would be. Being that it's under the education not criminal code, it probably would require a so called "victim" to step up, unlike in a criminal case where the DA could prosecute. This is once again inspiration for me to find the time to try to write a law journal article on hazing laws............. |
