Whoever made up the Rho Chi groups, it was ingenius to put all juniors together! Y'all have an entirely different pov than incoming freshmen, and y'all will be able to support each other.

honeychile, that's exactly why we group the juniors together. they are having a completely different experience than the freshmen and the maturity level is different.

on another note tonite is orientation and i'm totally psyched!!! i'm a pi chi so we get our groups tonite. i can't wait. i totally loved my rho chi's (they were rho chis when i went through) and i hope that i can be there for the girls in the same way they were there for me.

I need the luck, I'm no longer scheduled to work Sat of open houses (I found a sub) but I now need to find a sub to work Tuesday of 2nd rounds. I'm going over there to see if i can be taken off, but if not, I'll have to miss parts of recruitment. :( :( :( :mad:

I'M NOW OFFICIALLY RUSHING!!!!

Today was orientation where everyone first gathered in the auditorium and we were given general information about rush. Then we split up into our Pi Chi groups. My group is all juniors with 3 Pi Chis and a J-board member.

We basically talked about basics: do not talk to sorority members, do not take anything for granted, etc. The basic theme is that recruitment is great, these are no-nos, this is who you report bad things to, don't listen to opinions, go with your gut. The biggest thing they kept stressing is that the only way to guarntee a bid is to go to all of your parties and get invited to pref. If you go to a party at pref, you are guarnteed a bid. Also, we went over the dress code. For open houses, you are allowed to wear jeans, a nice shirt, and flip flops since Friday is 10 parties and Saturday is 15 parties. For first rounds, you can wear khaki pants, khaki skirt. Seconds, its business casual and Pref, its a dress. So I'm much overdressed for 1st rounds since its khaki type wear so I'm going to wear jeans and a skirt for open houses then my khaki skirts for second rounds.

How are bids delivered at Penn State now?

They used to tell PNMs to stay in their rooms during certain hours on bid day (7:00 - 8:00, for example). Then the sororities sent groups of 5-6 girls around to each Residence Area, where they (loudly, singing) delivered the bids in person and collected each girl.

It was hard on the nerves, because you didn't know who was coming for you. And if XYZ came to get your roommate or someone on your floor and then left, you didn't know if that meant someone else would be coming for you or that XYZ would be back.

I really liked today, i had alot of fun. I just got done ranking sororities since today was the end of open houses.
I have 5 major favorities and 11 houses i like alot. I really didnt like 4 of them. Tomorrow is 1st rounds and u can only go back to 14 so I'm hoping that I'll get to go back to the 5 I love and the 9 i like. :)

they give us a journal to take notes with, thank God. Its not that big though, I've already filled it with notes. :( :o

Bad news...

I got invites for 1st round... however u can go back to 14 and I got 4 back. :(
I got invited back to my #1, #2 and my #6 but I'm not going back to my #'s 3,4,5 which I really liked. I also got invited back to a sorority that there is no way in hell I'm going to join. I'm happy that I got invites back to sororities I love but it hurts because I'm not going to any parties today (they are all tomorrow).

It's not bad news if you got invited back to your top choice (and several others)! I know how terrible it feels to be cut, but take it from someone who knows - keep your chin up and go in there and WOW them. Have a great time at the rest of your houses!
