I love this cover. It's so moving and relevant to Cash's life and the like. Sure doesn't sound like the original though, but why cover something if you are just going to do it the same

The more time I spend in the Classical/Broadway world, the less covers bother me. Of course, in that type setting, songs belong to the show/opera/symphonic work and not to the singer/musicians.


HOWEVER, Gwen's Stefani's cover of "If I Were a Rich Man" from Fiddler on the Roof was a big NO.

How about a crappy cover of an already crappy song? Let's go with Footloose by Blake Shelton. Sucks and Kenny Loggins original is bad as it is but not this bad.

A cover that works in both versions: "Ring of Fire" by Johnny Cash and Social Distortion. Completely different feels for the same song. Also, any of Roseann Cash's versions of her father's music.

Covers that are so strange that they ALMOST work: Anything by William Shatner or Leonard Nimoy.

No one should attempt to cover any songs by Nina Simone.....

Abercrombie & Fitch's covers of songs... I heard their cover of Coldplay's Viva la Vida in the background of a video and my ears bled.

I don't really shop there, but I have a friend who's obsessed and has all of their soundtracks.
