My sorority purse that my best friend made me!
|
I love my tote bag, my bid card, my membership certificate, my flip-flops...I'm also working on a scrapbook. But I lost my lavaliere. :( Did you do your cross-stitches from a kit? I'd love to find one!

My favorite thing is our windbreaker, I wear that thing ALLL the time, any season. And then it would have to be my paddle and pin box.
|
Fave AOII items:
My badge, it is from 1924, my great-grandmother and grandmother both wore it as AOIIs at UTK and Newcomb College of Tulane and then me at Ole Miss. My AOII charm bracelet I put togeter with my lavalier, AOII charms, etc on it My Bid Day card that the Rho Chi gave me that says: Congratulations Katherine Bid: Alpha Omicron Pi My AOII Certificate that says I'm a member that I had framed. And probably this ceramic heart box that my big sis gave me for initiation that she made for me at some paint your own potter place in Jackson, MS. It is so special to me because it holds my badges and she made it for me. (I think homemade gifts are sometimes the best) Oh and my tee shirt collection! I was tee shirt chair for a year and I have so many AOII shirts! I want to have them made into a quilt one day! |

a few of my favorite things
I thought I would do a little medley from the Sound of Music but then thought against it.
My favorite Pi Phi things are: My first set of letters. My Pin(duh!) My lavaliere, I wear it everyday. A set of wooden letters my bigs mom bought for her that I have loved and my big gave them to me on senior farewell to pass down(although I really don't want to):D And of course I love my pillow thats a tradition in our chapter. Most of our alums still have theirs, they're so special to us. |
My favorite item of all would have to be my pearl inset badge - I ordered and received it on deployment with the Navy - it kept me somehow connected back to college, where I returned after my active duty time.
I also have a needlepoint created by a 90 some year old alumni from another chapter that was a gift to our chapter on our 10 year anniversary. However, it isn't "mine," and will be returned to the colony when they finally complete their chartering requirements. I still have my AM badge inset in my I-Week candle, that is kept in a high place of honor. However, my newest item, thanks to Tom Earp and others postings, is the new LXA Alumnus pyramid. Although small, it is very cool, and proudly displayed at home! |
when we were going through our national new member program, (we were founders.. we don't have bigs) we had "secret sisters" where we would make cute little things for our chosen ones.. Well my secret sister made me this little paddle.. nothing big, just our letters and my name, well, this sister and I had at the time not really gotten to know one another, but now, she's one of my very best friends, and that paddle, i swear to you, will go into my coffin with me when i (god forbid) pass.. it's a symbol of how 30 girls on our campus came from perfect strangers, to the powerhouse that we call sigma delta tau.
My lavalier, i got upon my initiation, but i handed it down to my little sis on the day that she got initiated, that's of great value even though it's not in my possession. I guess i have to give some love to my jacket too, (everyone else in my chapter better love those things too) seeing as that i sat for two and a half hours in completely stopped traffic, mid-span on the Delaware Memorial Bridge to pick those things up....and i HATE bridges...(my poor girls got an earful that day, let me tell you) yeah... i love my jacket:mad: |
My favorite
My favorite things would be my first letters that i got from my big brother and also a beer bottle that I got at senior speeches from one of the seniors.
|
Probably my initiation certificate, my fraternity paddle signed by the chapter and my certificates for ritual proficiency.
|
My DPhiE watch...
I am the second person in the whole entire world to own it ;) I never got to thank the first person at convention for convincing me to get it...so thanks! |
My badge and my bid card!!!!!
|
My bid card, definitely - signed by all my new sisters!
|
* My badges (my original and the one I rescued)
* My initiation journal * My antique crest ring. I bought this off eBay and it's so neat. The design has been worn down you can hardly make out some of our crest. That, to me, shows it was worn lovingly and worn often and I hope to do the same. |
my favorite thing is definitely my pin, because it belonged to my Mom and she came for my KD initiation and pinned me with it and everything. definitely very special! other than that, i have a big green Shamrock bear one of my sisters gave me for passing my senior comprehensive exams that i love, and the paddles that my big and little made for me.
|
My badge with officer dangle and chapter guard my parents got me for graduation.
The box from my big given at Initiation filled with congraulation notes from other sisters. The box from one of my littles filled with notes from sisters given at the senior farewell. A scrapbook of memories and personal pages made by each sister given as the graduating former president. Full chapter pictures...those just remind me of how I have a memory with every sister and will always think of them and Zeta as my home :) Some of you legacies spoke of being pinned by your mom...how awesome! I would love to pin one of my younger sisters...::fingers crossed:: |
My favorite things would have to be:
-My bid card, my roses (all three white ones), my candles (blue, green and white), my pledge pin and necklace. - my activation shirt, tiger and lavalier. - my jacket. Man have I worn that thing to death. - my little beautiful legacy ( she is definetly GAO all the way ) and my mostest favorite thing in the world......... ALL MY BEAUTIFUL SISTERS AROUND THE COUNTRY. |
I have a hat with our letters on it- really old school design- forrest green hat with rich cardinal red letters and gold trim with a tan bill. I cherish this hat.
The other thing: we recently came into ownership of a 1951 Phi Kappa Psi-New York Alpha paddle- made from a thin wooden canoe paddle. |
My favorite thing is definately my badge. I was so proud to receive it, and it turned out the be the first of many different turns my life has taken.
Zeta Tau Alpha gave me my first badge, but now I wear another (as a police officer), and the experiences of pledging and earning that badge, as well as the life lessons I learned as a sister, helped to carry me through the work needed this last time to earn my "other badge". I continue to wear both with extreme pride. :D (I value my badges bought on e-bay, but none are quite as meaningful as "my" badge) |
My APO paddle, the one I got during my last active meeting. It still hangs above my bed. :)
|
My sheet music letters that I got from wills.
It's a long sleeve t-shirt so it's good on a cool summer day, or a warmer winter day... or anytime in the spring or fall... and it's sheet music so it goes great with wearing when hanging out with my bf's brothers. |
My favorite Beta items:
My achievement band with my "Welcome" heart and "Pledge" star My lavaliere My copy of "Invitiation to Life" and "The Book of Beta Sigma Phi" Cool thread!:) |
-my badge/official pin
-my tatoo [her nickname is Rosie] -my jacket. -a gray sweatshirt w/ big letters on the front. -my keychain gets used all the time, and it has a mirror on it. I wouldn't say it's my favorite thing, but it's part of the background of SGRho in my life. My mom has actually seen other girls on Bart [commute train] with a similar keychain and stopped them and said "my daughter's in that Sorority, what chapter are you in?" :) -edited b/c I can't spell! |

So far the only piece of Beta paraphernalia I have is my achievement band. My pledge ritual is Tuesday night, so I'll get other stuff, too. :)
I'd love to get a lavaliere when I can afford one. |
I have a Fall 2003 Bid Day shirt that has Hawaiian print stitched letters and a big flower on the back. Around the flower it says, " It's not what you've become, it's what you've always been."
As far as Kappa Phi stuff- I have the paddle my only little gave me. It's my favorite thing. |
I got a gold chapter guard when I graduated from my chapter and a silver gavel for being the master. They were somewhat pricey but it's more about the fact that I gave 4 years to getting a chapter running, stable, and successful and a reminder that I can do more even though I'm not an undergraduate. My paddles from my little bros were cool too and help keep memories in my mind.
-Rudey --Cool items to own. |
My favorite Theta things:
- my badge -my sterling silver Kappa Alpha Theta ring that I still wear, (however theres some cute ones in the new Theta mag) -my Initiation certificate and bid card -t-shirt from the year we won Homecoming, ya have to understand how much I love Homecoming (I was chair two years in a row) |
In no particular order:
1. My Alpha Gam ring I bought at Convention (off the display, suprisingly.) 2. Skiouros (also bought at Convention) 3. MY BADGE, OF COURSE!!! :) |
1. my badge!!!!!
2. my convention charm bracelet (also purchased from the display!!) 3. a hand carved tiger's eye squirrel that my husband bought me on our honeymoon. ::insert "awwwwwwwwww" here:: marissa |
My absolute favorite sorority item is the paddle that my little sis Rayna made for me. It is absolutely beautiful and I very proudly hang it on my wall! :D
I also love this pretty flower pot that my big sis Laura made for me and gave to me on my Big/Lil night and of course, my lavalier...I rarely take it off! |
My line shirt and my crossing jacket.
|
My history books - recently purchased 2 of the 3 volumes of Loyally (ADPi). The newest book that came out in 2001 I got at our 150th convention. The best one is the one published in 1928 I got for a Christmas gift. One more to go for a complete set!
Another favorite is all of the pictures I have personally taken of chapter houses and campuses where we have chapters during my travels on vacations. |
