I feel grown when I make travel plans with my own money and my own authorization on everything!

Miss. Mocha 06-28-2006 03:45 PM

Dropping my child off at places, doing my thing, then coming back to get her.

A few years ago, that was out of the realm of what I could conceive.

DC_Zeta1920 06-30-2006 10:03 AM

When my mother's friend who has known me since I was born has asked me for relationship advice.

SKEEphistAKAte 06-30-2006 09:53 PM

When I pick up little SKEE and the kids call me "Little SKEE's mommy".

fun4real 07-04-2006 07:04 PM

I just feel really grown when I go to the spa.

When I was little I use to watch all of the movies of the week and they would always have fancy folks in robes and stuff going to the spa. Thing is, the staff is not all that fine and you can find them a dime a dozen.

BUT, it's all good and I AM GROWN :D

beauty_6049 07-04-2006 07:50 PM

1. Staying out as late as I want

2. Coming home whenever I want

3. Turning on all the lights in my apartment without my dad saying I burn too much electricity...

4. Dying my hair whenever/whatever color I want

5. Relaxing on the living room furniture in my PJ's

6. Having company when I feel like it

studying for the PE

MsDJ80 07-05-2006 10:40 AM

1. Paying my own doctor bills

2. Making financial decisions with hubby

3. When my daughter calls me mama

4. When me and all my friends get together...and all of our kids are there as well

5. Throwing a 4th of July cookout

LMAO!!!

Buying my own medicine and really reading what it is supposed to do and analyzing all of my symptoms makes me feel grown.

dzdst796 07-05-2006 10:54 AM

Being a Mommy.:) :) :)

PerfectVerse06 07-05-2006 12:41 PM

Moving into a house with my boyfriend and TELLING my parents about my decision, not ASKING for their permission to do it.

BlessedOne04 07-07-2006 10:40 PM

When I was younger and I got my first bill I thought I was grown...now I beg to differ!

When I bought my car knowing full well my Uncle did not approve!

spr06diva 07-10-2006 12:27 PM

Being able to help my mom with her bills

Being a part of Delta Sigma Theta (I've always held Delta on a pedestal and admired from afar so now that I'm part of it I feel more mature and grown up)
:)

PerroLoco 07-10-2006 08:29 PM

Looking at woman's booty and it having that majic affect on my loins for the first time.

Drinking a beer with my Dad for the first time.

Having my friends over and drinking with them in our house.

Having a girl in the basement with my Dad as the lookout for Big Momma (so she would not stop the proceedings)

Deciding to pledge (joining a "gang" according to them) over my parents objections and without their knowledge (but I wasn't too grown to ask for some pledging cash)

The coup de gras, "I missed my period, what are you gonna do about it"?

Mama used to say, "take your time young man...........don't you rush to get old"

Im_just_me 07-11-2006 11:35 AM

When my best friend and I get our daughters-who are 9 days apart-to play.

christiangirl 03-17-2007 10:42 PM

I searched for this thread just so I could put this in here:

MOVING INTO MY OWN APARTMENT, BEING A GRAD SCHOOL STUDENT, AND DOING SOMETHING THAT'S RIGHT FOR ME EVEN IF MY PARENTS DON'T AGREE.

Whew. I held that in for too long!

TotallyWicked 03-18-2007 12:28 AM

my 5th graders not knowing what "The perculator" is
Paying Bills
Looking for a REAL JOB
Looking for an actual apartment

Conskeeted7 03-18-2007 01:35 AM

Writing checks makes me feel grown. When I was a child, I thought it was a really grown up thing to do. It seems more grown to me than using a credit card. I knew folks in high school with those, but only our parents had checkbooks.

It also feels grown to have a house, be married, and be living in a state where none of my family lives. It feels grown to be expected to bring food to family events. Kids just get to show up.

12dn94dst 03-18-2007 02:24 AM

planning a career move (not to be confused with looking for a job)

going on vacation with the girls

One of my 5th graders at summer camp asked me "What's a Spice Girl?"

I WIN.

MeezDiscreet 03-18-2007 11:59 AM

One of my 7th graders asked me "[Meez Discreet], you listen to that old school music like Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, huh?"

ladeia 03-18-2007 03:33 PM

Mirror, mirror

When I looked in the mirror and realized the changes of myself from a girl to the woman I have become. (And thankful in growing everyday):D

when I feel like smacking every person below the age of 21
when I no longer want to drink to get drunk
when I come up with excuses why I don't want to go clubbing... geez I'm old at the ripe age of 23... smh

I never really liked to drink.

But I agree with your 3rd reason hands down.....and I am 22 (my birthday is in August). If I can't get my kicks for free at the house or my friends house it is too much effort.

RoyalEmpress33 03-19-2007 04:38 PM

I feel grown being that I don't have to ASK my mother can I go somewhere. I just TELL her when I'm coming back. ;) Shoot, I don't even do that lol.

If I wanted to, I could say "What?" to my mother when she called me. I don't out of habit though...:D

My entire college experience period makes me feel grown because I can't rely on my mother to take care of me. She can advise me or make suggestions, but ultimately I'm responsible and will be accountable for all my decisions and actions.

tld221 03-28-2007 02:08 PM

i felt grown (more like old) when i asked this little boy his birthday and he said "october 4, 1999"

and also thinking about the university class of 2011 was born in 1989... yeah. that's weird too.

risingstar 03-28-2007 02:20 PM

Going into the refrigerator (my OWN refrigerator!) without asking for permission. To this day I still have to remind myself that I'M GROWN :D .

When my brothers look at my childhood pictures and say, "Ya'll used to wear your hair like that????!!!" or "Ya'll used to wear that? And it was acceptable????!!!!!" LOL

I'll be 26 in August and I felt this 5 years ago. My sister (24) thinks I'm lame b/c I don't like to go out. Sorry I don't like to be at clubs where ppl fight. I LIKE remembering what I did last night too, so no, I don't like to drink or smoke. I HAVE A JOB THAT I WOULD LIKE TO KEEP!! LOL:)

StarFish106 03-29-2007 09:05 AM

I's grown because

1. Writing out the check for the mortgage
2. Deciding on what colors to paint the house (and none of them are Antique white  )
3. Having grown folks discussions with Mr. Starfish and understanding what my mother meant about men @ times.
4. Truly learning who is a friend and who is not.
5. Hearing folks call me Mrs. ____ _____

LOL I started partying (again) when some of you stopped. I went out a lot when I was like 19 when I was a social Greek. Then I dropped out, and had anti-social friends who didn't like to do isht but have movie nights and eat at Denny's. I got out on occasion, but like once every other month. Made different friends at 23 (still kept the old) and started going out again. Added more friends at 24, and have been exposed to isht I thought I would never see, lol.

I feel you all on clubs though, what's fun about being packed in a dark place with music so loud you feel it in your chest? Then there's the fights, and random guys trying to grind you. I like to stick to bars, lounges, and having drinks at people's houses. I like to drink enough to get buzzed, but not enough to pass out or vomit. I was never into binge drinking.

(still mad that jim jones can make the youngings think excesive skullhead designs and logos are all the rave)

risingstar 03-29-2007 11:30 AM

LOL! Yep. I have two brothers and the middle one is 11 years younger than me. The other one is 12 years younger than me. I guess my momma was like, "Oooh. I need to catch up!"
