Hmmmmmmm.....

crunch crunch crunch ( no that is not a clue, I am just having popcorn for lunch!!)

Actually "Gryffindor" IS a clue, but I'm not telling how!!!:p

JohnsDGsweethrt 05-21-2003 02:03 PM

Could it be because Gryffindor's symbol is a lion? Lets see. What sorority has a symbol as a lion? Texas*princess????.... LOL Sorry Tiny I will be quite now! LOL Just having some fun :D

SmartBlondeGPhB 05-21-2003 02:43 PM

I only have one thing to say.....

Tiny.........

You are SO mean to us!!!!! LOL

Torturing us like this.

(done being the spoiled only child)

FuzzieAlum 05-21-2003 02:58 PM

... hmmm ...

I think AXD is the only sorority with griffins on its crest.

LoL.. Let's see.. that could be Alpha Delta Pi or Phi Mu!

Hehehe.. on a more serious note, whichever sorority it is tinydancer, they would be very lucky to have a dedicated person like yourself! :) I just can't wait to hear how it goes and who the lucky sorority is!

I would also say that Pi Phi's "wine" and Alpha Phi's "bordeaux" are quite similar too.

AOIIalum 05-21-2003 06:30 PM

I think this is a good hint for the colors--they're either red, white, blue, green, teal, gold, silver, yellow, buff, azure, crimson, cardinal, pink, peach, brown, mode, grey, sky, surf, sea, lavender, maroon, purple, orange, black or some combination of colors, shades and intensities!

How's that, did I get it right?

(I just want this story to have a happy ending, and find out where tiny gets to call home for her!)

LeslieAGD 05-21-2003 07:25 PM

Update, please...? :)

cutiepatootie 05-21-2003 07:27 PM

enough!

my fair sweet panhellenic sister no one has reallymentioned Alpha Phi yet.... bourdeoux and silver is unique! :D and you could say the bourdoeux is a USC color and it is only shared with Pi Phi.......

the plot thickens

SmartBlondeGPhB 05-21-2003 09:37 PM

Ok, I know I recently had surgery and have been on pain meds so my brain's a bit foggy, but did I miss something about USC? I saw the yellow and red comment but that's it............

And to think, we still have another week to suffer............

I am sure glad I didn't go AI, I would not have the patience.

AAgammagirl 05-21-2003 10:55 PM

c'mon tinydancer, give it up already. can't you at least tell us who the choices are out of 5 or 6?

tinydancer 05-31-2003 04:11 PM

Just got back...

so I thought I had better check in! I had a wonderful time at the luncheon. It was in a cute little cafe and the food was really good. But the best part was the precious women that I met (see Southern Belle Primer about precious.) The Alum chapter has about 130 members, but there were only 13 there besides me. They were also disappointed at the low turnout. I sat across from 2 neat older (older than me even-ha) ladies; one was a 50-year member. There were also several that I had met at the Senior Celebration. When they sang the grace before lunch, one of the sweet ladies said "OH - I forgot that Lizz doesn't know the words! I'm already thinking of her as a sister!"
When I was introduced, the membership chair said "Lizz is a prospective AI and she will be attending a couple of our events in the fall, and then we will start the process." They, evidently, had decided not to have any summer events.
Soooo, it looks as if I will not know anything "for sure" until fall. I was a little disappointed, because I am not the most patient person in the world. BUT, I did get a good feeling about the group, on the whole. They all were very friendly and easy to talk to. I did not feel left out or awkward, even though I was basically on my own (without my sponsor, whose grandson graduates from high school today.)
From past conversations, I think the chapter was burned a time or two by AI's who were initiated and were never heard from again. I guess I can understand why they want to make absolutely sure. I have stressed that I do plan to be active and participate in their chapter.
I wish I had something more definite to report, because everyone has been so supportive and interested in my progress. I truly thank you for that - it means a lot to me.
I think I am creeping up on my home!!

Lizz (PNAM tinydancer)

midwesterngirl 05-31-2003 04:18 PM

That is fabulous,Lizz!I am so glad that you had a good time.Hopefully summer will pass by quickly for you.:)

breathesgelatin 05-31-2003 04:19 PM

texas*princess 05-31-2003 04:54 PM

tinydancer 05-31-2003 08:00 PM

bsp-mich24 06-01-2003 03:31 AM

Hi Lizz,

Good luck!! Things do sound promising for you; I hope you receive good news before fall.:D

SmartBlondeGPhB 06-01-2003 05:09 PM

We have to wait??!! I was in PA this weekend, and a rule in the house is there is no internet, so I was gonna miss the announcement!!!

OK, so I just jumped in this board here, but I've been reading for a few weeks now...I was part of a local sorority, and we affiliated with a national, but my big sister graduated before we affiliated, so i'm looking into helping her with AI...

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE AND KEEP US POSTED!!!!! I think I'm getting more and more impatient the more I read things!!

AngelPhiSig 06-06-2003 01:58 PM

ahhh! I hate suspense!

GPhiBLtColonel 06-10-2003 03:06 AM

Woo Hoo!

Tinydancer is gettin' close to membership in Gryffindor!!!
(I think I might know why you chose that code name....hmmmm?)
Lizz, you know how much it pains me to hear that you still have some waitin' to do but I would say from the sounds of things, Alum Initiation seems pretty certain. I agree that the alum chapter was probably burned by AIs in the past and having you to a few more events is just their way to reassure themselves you are going to be active and involved. Don't lose hope and keep us posted....by the way, at what point will you feel comfortable enough to tell us what GLO Gryffindor really is???

tinydancer 06-10-2003 04:37 PM

Well, I just got a sweet email from the Gryffindor membership chair saying how glad she was that I attended their closing luncheon. She said she wanted me to get to meet more of the members so I could get a real "feel" for the group; and she wanted more of them to meet me so they could be sure that I would be a good match with them. I have liked every member that I have met so far!

I am going to be receiving their newsletter and calendar of events for next year, as she said, "so I could plan to attend." I say that sounds VERY GOOD!!;)

SmartBlondeGPhB 06-10-2003 04:56 PM

Yeah! That sounds VERY promising. As someone who's chapter had an AI who ended up not being involved, I'm sure it's a pretty big concern for them.

I've had this exact discussion with members of a few of our alumnae chapters.

I would also say this. Compared to other stories PNAMs have told, it's a GREAT sign that she's contacting you!

GeekyPenguin 06-10-2003 05:13 PM

I think Gryffindor likes you! :D

I thought of something to compare the long wait for AIs to - it's kind of like your "New Member Period." You're going to activities and getting to know the chapter better, just like collegians do!

tinydancer 06-10-2003 05:30 PM

Thanks, Penguin! I LIKE that comparison!!

texas*princess 06-10-2003 05:37 PM

tinydancer - it seems like you are almost home!!!

I hope things continue to go well for you and I hope you find the home of your dreams with Gryffindor!

P.S.
I finally saw the Harry Potter movie and now understand the 'sorting hat' thing, so I'm really excited:p
