Watch out dere naw--For y'all Gamblers out dere
Sorors,
Be aware that y'all really need to bring a BUDGETTED amount of $$$ that you plan on losing, instantaneously... 'Cuz ALL places in Vegas take any kinna plastic, and y'all can come home with the shirts off your backs!!! Or worse... I only say that 'cuz I goto Vegas alot myself... They got the dayum slot/video poker machines in the Airport!!! And those things ain't never, neva, neve, evar loose--ABSOLUTELY NO PAYOUTS!!! And one can get addicted to that "Wheel Of Fortune" game... Or the "Deuces are Wild" video poker game... Places that have good food: GOTO the Boardwalk Hotel to their buffet. They are on the Strip... Very good food and inexpensive. If you wanna go off-Strip--goto "Texas Station" Hotel--very good buffet. Circus-cirus' buffet is huge but not cheap. And be ready to eat. Old Las Vegas is okay--Binion's is the place. Hush Puppies is a good Sea Food, but off-strip. And y'all better know sum body really really famous if y'all wanna be up in the Ghostbar in the Palms Hotel on a Friday or Saturday night... DO NOT GAMBLE at the Venetian, Bellagio, MGM Grand and any other brand new hotel--YOU WILL LOSE YOUR MONEY AND THEY WILL SAY THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR IT!!! Be careful in going to concerts, the seating is all one level--not on a risers or stadium and you can't see the stage. If you wanna pay the $50+ seats, then you might be wasting your money... Ever since Earl Turner left from the Rio, their ain't no good shows for "us"... They got some Earl Turner lookalikes, but they ain't that good... The Beach Club is too wild and they ain't that interesting unless you want the college hangout... OHHHHH!!!!! Gordon Biersch has an EXCELLENT Sunday Jazz Brunch!!!! And they charge a little of nuthin' to get in!!! Starts around 9ish-10ish... Gordon's is off Flamingo I think... But everyone who works in Vegas will point you in a direction... Whatelse, personally, I like the Halls of Caesar (sp.) for shopping. They got this indoor swapmeet off of Decatur and Flamingo and it has almost the same kinna stuff as in the ritzy places--so be sure they don't rip you off... Vegas is known for that... The Mirage has the nicest pool too... That's all I can think of right now... Have fun!! Good Luck!! Soror G- |
Thank You for the info.
I am registered for the sisterly relationship activity, effective presentation techiques, traditions, effective rules of public speaking. |
Enrolled workshops...
Soror AKA-Monet -- thanks for the tips. Are you going?
I'll be attending: ***getting out my confirmation...*** A Commitment to Our Pearls... Leadership: Spiritual Gifts... The Top 10 Secrets of First Impressions... Help!... (They all have such very looong titles!) See you all there! |
Maybe we could put a little pink or green dot on our name tags so other GCers will know we are from GC...
|
hmmm...
Soror Skeelicious1, that might not be such a bad idea!!!
Since some GC'ers might not be going to the "other" gathering, and as many of us are staying at different hotels, it would be nice to identify our cyber-sorors in a unique, yet discreet way. |

Anyone going to the SPA event? Count down to Vegas is on! |
Soror AKA4MJ
Get on it, dog gone it!!!
you don't want to be one of the folks she talks about in the next update :D . Plus you know you want to be in the place! No spa for me, I am too old for all this excitement anyway. I need to pace myself. The workshops, the banquet, and the gathering are enough for me. ;) ~pnc |
Re: Enrolled workshops...
Unfortunately, I will be unable to attend this conference. But the grad chapter up there is a very sweet chapter--small, but very sweet sorors.
One thing is, Vegas may be able to handle large conventions, but they are never able to handle us... The Alphas met out there and Vegas asked them to come again... So, as one can imaging, they get a whole lotta sorors up there--it might get bought out--but I dunno how it'll happen... I'm soooooo jealous!!! But the Far Western Region will be in charge of the Boule in 2012 so Vegas might be the place if we're still all here... Quote:

I"m going to Sisterly Relations and the Traditions workshop too.
I may need something than a DOT. I can't see far away, even with my contacts. :o I think we need to start discussing some of this by way of email or pm. You know perps do lurk. It's a conference so we don't want to let them know what we are doing to help their act of deceit. Feel me? Maybe a PRIVATE yahoogroup for those attending. |

I would like to participate in these meet/greet sessions. Please include me on the emails/PMs and update me on anything that is official/exclusive for GC. Thanks. My email is v_benson_76@msn.com |

Or maybe we can put a ribbon or something on our badges... I really can't wait to meet you Soror AKA2D'91. When I was a SF and new to GC I was so initimidated by your NAME! Probably because I couldn't figure it out  :D |
lol.
I have created the group. Invites will come shortly. Please PM Soror Steeltrap to let her know which email addy you would like to use. Thanks! :D |
Cool beans...
Soror AKA2D '91, as instructed I sent a PM to the appropriate party. Thanks for pulling it all together
As Soror AKA4MJ stated, I can't wait to meet my GC sorors!!! ~pnc |

NOT 20 years! Don't say it's been that long! I am getting so old, because you were a kid, a lil snotty nosed... just kidding!:p But I am gonna be looking for you for sure. By the way, I am driving, so if you need anything or need to get anywhere... |
1. It's been closer to 15 years. I was a teenager and NOT a snotty nosed kid. :D I told you alzheimer's isn't anything nice.
2. Thanks for the offer. I might need you. 3. Soror Steeltrap needs your email addy. |

Its almost here!!!
Next week we will be in Vegas. I hope I get to meet some people from the GC.
Has anyone started packing? |

Packing, etc.
I haven't actually started packing, but I did make an inventory of what I'm going to take and what I'm going to wear when. I know this seems a little anal retentive, but I was tempted to take waaaay too many clothes, so I decided to figure out what might go with what, etc. I found that I could wear one pair of slacks with differing shirts and jewelry to two events and my shoes could do for a couple of different outfits (instead of one pair for each outfit), too. I'm not really into fashion, so I don't really mind wearing the same thing twice the way it might devastate some other Sorors. :D
As an aside: I'm nervous about meeting Sorors I know from the Internet but have never seen. Has anyone ever done this before; met physically people you only knew in the cyberworld? How was it? Was it uncomfortable? Comfortable? Did you feel like you had known each other for years or did you have to get to know each other all over again? |
Packed? (I really don't want to think about it) I will have everything packed Tuesday night...lol. :D
Soror Choo-choo, Don't stress yourself! We're all going to have a great time in the desert. We'll all probably wonder what is happening on GC while we are away. I wouldn't worry too much about it. When I met Ideal and CT4, I didn't have any reservations. I picked them up from the airport and it was ON! There was never a dull moment. |
Re: Packing, etc.

As for meeting people, I have the normal anticipation. Because you picture someone looking a certain way and then you can be pleasantly surprised. :D |

You're not anal. I plan on doing the same thing today. Well, maybe we are both ANAL. LOL. I don't care. I need to go shopping to pick up a couple of things, but I'm pretty much ready. I have an idea of the outfits I want to take. Shoes, are a problem. As usual, I will have a bag containing a lot of shoes. I ALWAYS overpack, so I doubt this will be different. I'm sooooo excited. This is my first national event. |

NINE PAIRS OF SHOES:eek::o (Yes I'm yelling at you:)) How many suitecases? Nine pairs, when do you leave for I'm TRYING to bring one suitecase and like my Soror said, I don't have a problem with wearing pants twice. I"M ON A BUDGET. |
Re: Re: Re: Its almost here!!!
i'm with you soror. i too am on a budget, and even after going shopping i still don't have enough stuff to wear (as i have gained weight and can't fit a lot of stuff), so i will be doubling up as well.

Thank You PearlEssence08. My aunt is a 30 year member and she has asked and asked me if I have gone shopping yet. She ALWAYS gets new outfits for these events. I told her, Yes....what she does not know, I went shopping in my own closet. LOL

There will be plenty of room for these pictured and some others to go up to Vegas. That's the advantage of riding in a car. :D http://ebay1.ipixmedia.com/abc/M28/_...f8c0/i-1_T.JPG |

I got your back Soror. I am currently at 9 pairs of shoes as well. I forgot about my purses and hats (it's my new thing). But like you, I'm riding in a car, so it's cool. Had to edit...those shoes are cute! |
LOL LOL LOL
Those shoes are tight. I saw Charle's Angles and those girl has some killer shoes, mules, boots etc. I can picture you now coming into the hotel with that suitecase. LOL Now your gonna have me looking at everyones shoes so I will know which one is you . |
I heart those shoes
Thanks, Sorors, for the compliment.
The only thing that would make them more perfect is if they were a rose ;) pattern, but we can dream, heh, heh. |

Sawrahs - Have a wonderful time at Leadership. Until about 3 weeks ago, I had expected to go, but some recent events changed those plans.
I talked to Soror Steeltrap the other day and I wish I could see her dropping her extra bags of shoes and purses on the bellman at the hotel. I hope y'all are bringing some comfy keds - 'cause all that walking on the strip is gonna kill your feet. I know my sorors will look cute out there strutting in your pink and green best. I'm just trying to protect y'all from coming home with hammer toes!!! :D |

I haven't packed yet. I ought to be ashamed! :(

Don'g worry, I haven't packed yet either. I usually don't pack until the day OF, but since i have to be at the airport so early in the morning, I will be packing the day before. Although, I have been thinking of the outfits I'll wear. When you've been in college and have to pack at LEAST twice a year, packing becomes quite easy. PearlEssence |
Well, I have started to catalogue everything I plan on taking. After running the rather long list by Soror PearlEssence, I need to do some cutting. AAAAAAAAAH, this is so hard!
