KD has been selling Lilly letters our of boutique for a couple years now, so I'm surprised to not see them there!

I wonder why? I wonder if our/my organization just has stricter guidelines or what the deal is? There are many things that I see, that other organizations have and that are in good taste, but isn't offered for my organization. One example was those beautiful Christopher Radko sorority ornaments from a few years back. I'm sure the National Organization has their reasons, and I'm sure they are what's best - so I won't argue, but it would be interesting to know how they go about deciding what to lend their name to and such.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that perhaps this one will get through!

:]

I don't think our Nationals are the problem. Why make something that you can only market to 20,000* women, when you can make something you can market to 250,000* women? (*These numbers came out of my ass, I have no idea what "official" counts look like right now) Plus, certain NPCs are ALWAYS going to be seen by certain parts of the country (where Lilly, et al are marketed) as more prestigious than others, and those are the ones that are going to have their letters made.

ZTAMich 08-17-2009 12:12 PM

A Zeta sister posted this link on my FB. Le Sportsac & Lilly are going to be working together to make a handbag line for 2010!

This totally makes sense; I never realized that some NPC groups get the shaft in terms of product licensing. I've always been able to get the AXO products that I've originally seen made for other sororities. I guess this also explains why Mattel manufactured AKA and DST dolls to celebrate the groups' Centennial Anniversaries. The demand was more concentrated among those two groups than for the 26 NPC groups! :)

Don't fret if your org is not on the Lilly site right now! Lilly is just beginning to offer us all something greek.

Pretty soon Lilly will offer an option to create your own sorority T.

Sounds like fun to me.

The "Pearce" one is perfect (if a little $$$).

Yeah - it's Lilly - but I get notices when their stuff starts to go on clearance AND when Saks has 50% off clearance. I've scored a $300 Lilly dress for $30 and the Palm Beach fit highwaters/capris for $15.

Meanwhile, why does the model in the Carly dress have her leg up? That's kinda not-Lilly like.

tootiepie 02-23-2010 08:34 PM

I have gotten fantastic deals on Lilly at Dillards. I have hit it when it was 70% off then take an extra 40% off. Got my daighter a cute white dress she used for initiation. It was orginally about 300, I got it for around 40. Got several bathing suits for less then 20, think they had been around 150-175. DD loves Lilly but I just will not pay the full price. She has a bunch but I always buy it on sale. She may have to wait a while to wear it, but the good thing about Lilly is it doesn't go out of style.

purpleparrot 02-27-2010 05:38 PM

Dillards does have good really good deals for Lilly and sometime even Marshalls will have dresses but those get snatched up very quickly. And about the sorority shirts- if they don't have the shirt for your chapter you can always buy Lilly Fabric on Ebay and have a place make a shirt with it for you!

NinjaPoodle 07-09-2010 07:32 PM

I recently got this!

My NEW FAVE!
Got it on SALE @ Macys! Clearance price with additional holiday sale price. The original price was $98. I got it for $25!

NinjaPoodle 07-09-2010 07:32 PM

FYI ** In the Pink has a pretty good clearance sale.

GammaPhi88 07-12-2010 03:16 PM

So does preppyoutlet.com.

I love their dresses, they were all the rage at my high school. Sadly, I can't even fit into the zero, so I have to wear the children's 14. It's a little embarrassing when I go into our local Lilly store, but I can get them for under $100.

Online sales I found is the best way to go for finding anything under 100 bucks. Since there are no LP boutiques in San francisco, my only choices are the discount stores (which are fine but really limited selections) and the minimal sections at the Neiman Markup and Macys.

eta
and Bloomies too

i've said it before, and i'll say it again-you have the best taste in purses(and i am sure in everything fashion related),

rococobaby 08-03-2010 07:35 PM

Okay, so I have never even heard the name "Lilly Pulitzer" before I joined this forum, and now it's all that you ladies can talk about when it comes to rush fashion! Where I come from people are more into Juicy Couture, Chanel, and a a few other brands like that. What is the big deal about Lilly? I mean the dresses are pretty nice, but nothing super different.

Sorry if I've just committed the GC gaffe of the century by asking :)

Lily is old-money preppy. You know the Pulitzer Prize? It's the same family.

ETA: Depending on where you are rushing and how conservative it is, you might want to keep the Juicy in the back of the closet.

rococobaby 08-03-2010 08:20 PM

Oh I see! Thanks for the clarification. I felt a little embarrassed asking, to be honest, haha. I personally am not a fan of Juicy (too flashy!) so no worries. :)

annabella 08-03-2010 10:23 PM

I like some pieces, but I'm starting to see it almost everywhere.

....BUT If anyone's into sample sales, RueLaLa has Lilly on tomorrow.

Alas, only for KD, KKG, DZ and DDD.

PS I bought this dress at the Westchester in White Plains, NY

FSUZeta 08-08-2010 02:28 PM

very cute!

did you see those scarves up close? i can't really tell what the print is for any of them.

baci 08-09-2010 09:15 AM

I have seen the sorority prints and they are sweet.:)

I love the whole idea of Lilly, but I do have to say the quality of things are not the best for the price. It is best to wait for sales which are easy to be found.

Lilly quality has definitely declined through time and it is sad. I do like many things, but I have come to the conclusion I have to be a bit selective on what I purchase. I have learned what things stay nice for the price and what doesn't.

The downfall of my wardrobe is online shopping. There are times that I keep an item that isn't very well made because I don't want to pay the shipping costs to send it back and then wait 10-54343294839209 days for them to take the charge off of my credit card.

For $100+ dollars, I expect the garment to be well made and to last. Lilly isn't the only one that has been cutting corners on quality. It's frustrating.

baci 08-09-2010 12:25 PM

ita!!!^^

ilovetheviolets 08-09-2010 08:21 PM

I love lilly, but avoid buying at full price. I always go to the warehouse sales (thankfully I don't live too far) where almost all dresses are at most $99. I have some from almost 4 years ago that are in great shape and just went this past year and got virtually all the clothes I wore for my convention. If you don't know about the warehouse sale, you should. It's like christmas coming two times a year.

NinjaPoodle 09-26-2010 11:48 PM

http://gallery.lillypulitzer.com/Gal...__Selected.jpg

A bit much but cute for a themed party.

FSUZeta 09-29-2010 08:02 AM

darling!

and i agree that lilly is worth buying when it is on sale-the only way i buy it. luckily, down here in south florida i have several options on where to shop for lilly here in town.

i saw a lilly jeep last week. i believe the owner owns one of the stores that sells lilly. it was very cute. i would love to know how they painted it-it looked like a factory paint job, even with the intricate pink and green pattern.

CarolinaPhi 10-04-2010 11:26 PM

I've seen a Lilly jeep here in Columbia (SC) as well!

I just love the bright patterns of Lilly dresses. Perfect for Spring/Summer! :] We have a local boutique that always has amazing sales for Lilly Pulitzer items.

Also, we used Lilly prints for letters on our jerseys this past year & painted the wooden letters for bid day to match. We got a ton of compliments on them! I think I posted pictures of it under the Bid Day pictures..

Kappamd 10-09-2010 07:52 PM

We had a Lilly rep at our Founder's Day luncheon today (the daughter of one of our alumnae works for Lilly). She was showcasing the sorority lines and I have to say, all four of them are adorable in person. I would LOVE to have the Kappa scarf, but not for $118.

kappa_dancer 10-11-2010 03:29 AM

I just got my Lilly make up bag in the Kappa print. I wasn't sold on the print until I saw it in person. It's really cute! I may or may not ask for the bag for a Christmas gift. It's much bigger than I thought it was and I really have no idea why I would need a bag that big.

baci 10-11-2010 10:36 AM

ita^^

The bag is nice, but it is too large for a tote bag for daily use, but too small to really use to pack things for a getaway. I think it needed to be either smaller or much larger. I don't think it was thought out enough.

Definitely. It's a pretty decent size for a beach bag, but I'm not going to spend $88 for a sand trap. If I end up getting it, I think it's an appropriate size for an overnight bag. It looks like it could fit pajamas, a change of clothes and toiletries. Other than that, I probably wouldn't use it much.

Tulip86 08-23-2011 09:11 AM

Lilly Pulitzer SALE started today and there are tons of cute dresses on the website. Loads of white dresses too.

Low C Sharp 08-23-2011 10:59 AM

Oh my, thanks for the tip! I just bought this in Iris and I'm considering going for more...

Tulip86 08-23-2011 02:23 PM
