I won't remarry, I don't want more kids and the other medications I'm on are seriously dangerous to embryos so it's out of the question. She still refuses though.
I'm not sure how old you are (and a lady never tells) but if you are over 35, I'd say that tubal ligation is the way to go. No one should have a baby after 40 anyways. Too much risk of having birth defects, not to mention the risk it poses to you (your body doesn't recover the same way at 40 as it did in your late 20s). I'm sure your doctor means well, but if you honestly feel that you want your tubes tied, then maybe you should seek out another doctor.

My cousin just had a beautiful healthy baby girl in February. She's 43.

Anything is possible.

Absolutely, 100%, not true! Research has shown that women who are on the pill and go off of it have no less of a chance of conceiving than women who were never on the pill. In fact, research has shown that women who just went off of the pill have a greater chance of conceiving than women who were never on it.

Yay ZTAngel... you made me feel a ton better. No kiddies for me yet, but just want to know the pill will not effect my fertility when I do start thinking about it.

I thought I had read that research somewhere too...

Ooooh, it pisses me off when doctors refuse to do a tubal on a woman who wants one because they think they know better than she does. As soon as I have health insurance again I want to get one and I'm sure it won't be easy since I've never had kids and I'm sure doctors will love to say things like, "Oh, you'll change your mind" -- ummmm, no I won't!

Maybe i was misled or misunderstood but i heard when i was on the pill that coming off of them and trying to get pregnant was hard because your body becomes so use to them for so many yrs of taking them.

You may have actually been confusing that with Depo. It generally takes up to a year after being on Depo (depending on how long you've been taking it) to become fertile again. The longer you're on it, the longer it takes for your body to readjust.

The pill is much more hit and miss... as others said, that's why you hear of girls missing one pill and getting pg.
