OH My goodness, my friend just called me and said Frenchie has been disqualified from the competition for working on a porn website! I checked on USAToday and there is a link to the story, but I don't think it's up yet. That girl could've won the whole competition. Has anyone heard anything aobut this?:confused:

It's cool though. I have a feeling with haven't seen the last of her or heard the last of her beautiful strong voice.

Even though I don't watch AI, I heard on the radio this AM that Kelly, the winner from last season was in a movie that had a "gay" theme. :eek: I guess that was found out after the fact. :confused:

Also, it was mentioned that it the real deal is that her look isn't that of an American Idol. If this is the case and she is meant to make it into the 'biz', it will happen. Usually, instances like this will usually help one's career.

Frenchelle "Frenchie" Davis, the 23-year-old singer canned by Fox, was a fan favorite and had been tabbed last week by Entertainment Weekly as one of the program's leading six contenders. According to a TSG source, Davis posed topless (and appeared to be masturbating) on "Daddy's Little Girls," a web site that purported to feature naked underage girls (which, of course, would be illegal). However, at the time she posed for these photos, Davis was over 18. The Washington, D.C. native has claimed that she took the topless gig to earn money so that she could re-enroll in Howard University, where she is a theater major. In a recent interview, when asked about the proudest moment of her life, Davis said, "Other than getting back in school after not having the money and not being there for a year," American Idol "has been the proudest moment 'cause I worked so hard."

All traces of Davis's involvement in "American Idol" have been stripped from Fox's web site, a banishment nearly as abrupt as the ones delivered by judge Simon Cowell. The network's decision to can Davis has been blasted by followers of the show who have been flooding fan sites with complaints. A typical beef--posted in an online petition calling for Davis's reinstatement--stated, "American Idol will no longer hold my interest if Frenchie Davis is gone. She was the voice and talent. Every other contestant is extremely(!) bland, boring and not the least bit intriguing. Give America what they want and bring Frenchie Davis back!"

With her brassy voice and large frame, Davis has drawn comparisons to Aretha Franklin. In describing Davis and fellow contestant Kimberley Locke, Entertainment Weekly wrote, "From the second these two bodacious beauties strutted their stuff on stage, all those navel-baring lightweights should have headed home." A Fox spokesperson told USA Today, which first reported Davis's departure, that the singer will be replaced on the February 25 "American Idol" telecast.

I don't know why Frenchie was canned if there was a girl from last year who used to be a stripper. While I don't agreee with what Frenchie did, I think they should let her sing. If the AMERICAN public does not like her for any reason then WE should be able to vote for that. Next week I don't even see anyone who looks like they can have my vote.:rolleyes:

Frenchie was on Entertainment Tonight tonight and talked about getting booted. She says that she told the producers up front that she had appeared on that website 4 years ago. She said that the website is now under new ownership and did not deal with child porn when she worked for them. She was interviewed by Paula Abdul, who is ET's special correspondent. Frenchie also said that she is upset that they decided to take her off the show so late in the process. She also sang the song she was going to sing during her perfomance. The song was "I Have Nothing" by Whitney Houston. You might remember this song from The Bodyguard soundtrack.

Hey ya'll, Frenchie is doing just fine!! She is the new correspondent on Entertainment Tonight. She was on ET last night talking about the Grammys and other music related news. Tonight, she is going to sing, among other things, the ET theme (I didn't know it had words!) I will watch.

I just read in USA Today that she will sing Natural Woman.

Whatever as long as she is not blackballed totally.

Why is there so much support for a woman who would bare her flesh for money on a child porn site? Can I be enlightened please?. Are there not to be consequences for aberrant behavior? Comparing her to the mistakes of others is not good enough.

I do not of the child porn site. However, these facts have come forward:

1. The site was not a child porn site when she appeared on it. The website currently has different owners and this is what they have on the site now. It was an adult site.

2. Frenchie was not underage when she was on the the site. She was 19. She says she chose to do this so she could continue her education at Howard.

3. She was up front with the producers about appearing on the site. If they had any qualms about it, they should have disqualified her before she made it past the initial stage.

While I do believe that taking it all off was not the best choice, I am backing her since she was up frront about the situation. Also, last season on AI one of the finalists was a known stripper and was not disqualified.

I am not trying to start an argument, but this is why I don't understand why Frenchie was pulled from the show.

In between working with the chilluns (my new job as a direct care worker for a teen runaway shelter) doing some writing on second shift tonight I was able to catch AI. I'm listening to Whitney's "Didn't We Almost Have It All" right now and yes, they were right, Juanita was screaming that song. Then to have the absolute complete nerve to sit up and catch attitude. She lost my vote right then and there. And I usually don't agree with the kids I work with but we were on one accord tonight.
