This is not "Bryant Denney's" first rodeo at Alabama. It's their third iteration, according to IrishPipes: 1932-43, 1988-95, and the current recolonization. Not that the persnickety PNM would think anything of it!
We're all very happy to see them return! WAIT A MINUTE......"National Champions" is no longer in the mix. They dropped a double legacy?!? I'm so sorry, TriDDDeltgirl! |
Quote:
1) There’s no mention of grandmothers qualifying a PNM as a legacy for this group. So, if TriDDDeltgirl had been in a different sorority, Grandma’s membership would not in itself make DD4 a legacy. Daughters/Stepdaughters and Sisters/Stepsisters. That’s it. 2) The decision to give preference to a legacy is left up to the chapter, which must clearly state their position in their chapter policies. It is encouraged that they include legacies for at least one invitational round, but that is not required. From the looks of things, National Champions had no desire to keep those particular legacy ties. |

I work with a DDD and her mother is one also. When my friend's daughter went thru at Ole Miss (neither mother nor grandmother went to Ole Miss),she said her daughter was a double legacy. Now whether or not she knew what she was talking about is another question! |

Here's another though: as far as I can tell, we don't actually know if DD4 was released by Tri-Delt. It may be not that common, but I have known a few girls who chose to not go back to their legacy house. And I'm NOT asking TriDDDeltgirl to share whether DD4 was released since I think that's personal and private info, I'm just pointing out something else to think about. It does happen so perhaps it did here.
TriDDDeltgirl wrote about her daughter's experience at her legacy house this way: "Apparently they didn't treat her like a legacy, so she admitted she sulked the entire round". So since DD4 didn't think they treated her well enough, she might have ranked them low. Or they thought she wasn't interested (would seem obvious to me if a PNM was sulking) and released her. Anyhow, we don't need to know, but I did want to point out a different viewpoint. |

Skip the book and just make this a movie lol
|
TriDDDeltgirl, I knew this was more likely, but I always like to point out another possibility since it seemed like DD4 had such a miserable time there. I've known many a legacy who wanted to chart their "own path" and not pledge their legacy house so they did rank it at the bottom.
At any rate, I look forward to the next installment and I agree with the post about forget the book, make a movie! I could see someone like Emma Stone in the DD4 role since she "does" feisty and rebel really well (like in "The Help"). Grandma would be Julia Sugarbaker with all that sass and wisdom. |

Unfortunately, someone else will need to play Grandma since Dixie Carter (aka Julia Sugarbaker) passed away awhile ago.

TriDDD... forgive me for being a dummy but I am soooo confused! I’ve been reading your fantastical stories and can’t figure out when your other twins became TriDelts? Are they DD1 and DD2 from your original post in West Coast Recruitment or did they just pledge as well? Aren’t they all freshmen this year??? Please help this confused girl keep track!!

Right... I remember TriDDDeltgirl sharing that with us... I’m just trying to keep straight all four girls and who rushed where when.... did the Tri Delt daughters pledge BEFORE DD3 and 4? If so, I would love to hear their thoughts on these crazy rush stories from their sisters/cousins! Wow!
I only had one son going through recruitment at another SEC school year and it was nerve wracking in itself... can’t imagine how TriDDDeltgirl has t completely gone bonkers by now. Speaking of son, please promise that you will share you son’s recruitment story next... he should be done now also, right? |
2013 and 2014 at UDub and Oregon.
My son is at UW and he’s a wreck. He’s never been good at decisions and so he had more than one bid on his plate and went through heck trying to figure out where to join. He has an anxiety disorder and so I was on call 24/7. |

The boys are Sigma Chi, Sigma Nu, and FIJI for my stepsons, 2 of each. My boys are Phi Delt, FIJI, AEPi, Sigma Chi, and another Phi Delt. My youngest is a ??? My husband was a FIJI His father was a FIJI His grandfather was a FIJI His brothers were Sigma Chi, Sigma Nu, AEPi, and Phi Delt. His mother was a Tri Delta Her family is all Greek. When I get home, I’ll dig up our Christmas photo because we’re all wearing our Greek letter shirts (except for my 3 that didn’t rush who have on legacy shirts) |
My family didn’t believe in education or care about it and so I’m the only one who attended a four year university and then continued my education. I did have an aunt who was a Pi Phi and since their philanthropy is literacy, she encouraged me to be in school and put me in school again every time my mother pulled me out. She also taught me how to read!

Crimsonettes: Let me count the ways that the Crimsonettes are perfect. The Crimsonettes have inspired sonnets, long stanzas of praise, and many serenades from lovestruck men. I’d heard the praises of Crimsonettes obsessed DD4 for days and all of a sudden, she didn’t like them. She thought they were unfair and mean. Big Al: “I made a big mistake.” DD4 admitted to us later “they’re really really nice and I feel bad because I treated them badly.”, it was like a lightbulb had gone off over DD4’s head, she wasn’t set on Big Al, but she’d promised to treat them better and that’s what counted. Crimson and White: DD4 finally took Grandma’s heed about nationals and really looked and C&W was still top in her heart but she didn’t want Nationals to slam down on the sorority’s chapter while she was still in it. She wanted to be able to work on herself without the fear of being expelled for small things and she was worried about grades during freshman year and realized that she should probably not join C&W. Homecoming: She decided to ignore everything else about homecoming and focus on their philanthropy. Helping kids? She loves kids. Helping sick kids? Even better, DD4 loves feeling needed and like she’s making a difference. |
Love it! What a change of heart from your daughter! Any indication as to what prompted her coming to her senses?

The Nick Saban comments confuse me. The 1st day they were too Southern, the 2nd day they weren’t Southern enough. Pretty sure I know what chapter it is, and the coincidence of the name has to be accidental. As for Homecoming, I like to think “they” have the awesome colors of the Waffle House and how can it not be Southern enough if the Founding Chapter and HQ are in Southern States? For the last round descriptions, did we lose Houndstooth and Crimson Tide or did DD4 not describe in detail? |

I guessed Southern Charm might be AOII because colors are the same as Bama? We really only have cardinal red, but we use white too.

Glad to hear DD4 had a change of heart about Big Al and Homecoming. Homecoming’s philanthropy is a worthy cause, indeed! (And, not that they don’t all have worthy philanthropies, but this is assuming that I’m right about who Homecoming is. Those McDonald’s colors are pretty distinctive.) |

Could be wrong, of course, but given Nick's daughter being a member, I immediately thought of Phi Mu. Whatever the case, I LOVE the names she gave each house! |
I am taking advantage of the boss being off and FINALLY reading this thread and loving it :D
