Snakes in the Pulpit
Has anyone heard aboutSnakes in the Pulpit? It is a book coming out this month that my cousin told my mother and me about this weekend.
From the website: The number of megachurches featured on National TV and radio have spawned a new type of celebrity: megapastors. These men have risen in stature and gained the public's trust as irreproachable men of God as their churches have attracted hundreds of thousands of members and millions of viewers and listeners. http://www.snakesinthepulpit.com/tp.gifBut are these men, their methods and intentions really beyond reproach? One man says no, and he's set to be the voice of doubt crying out into the wilderness of what he believes to be blind faith. http://www.snakesinthepulpit.com/tp.gif"I want to expose the deception and the lies that are going on right now when it comes to these megachurches and their pastors," Armstrong said. "I'm a Christian, and I don't want people thinking I'm against God or anything like that. I believe in the church, but I don't believe in people saying one thing and doing another." What do you think? |
Quote:
Why are people so quick to try and find deception in the lives of ministers? Yes, a minister has to live life at a different level because of his position in the body of Christ. I agree with that. Ministers should strive to walk the straight and narrow. But the only one who hasn't ever succumb to temptation was Jesus himself, but He was tempted. The devil tried. As long as people put their trust and faith in the people who lead the church instead of who they are being led to, they will be disappointed at some point. The role of the minster is to lead us to have a closer relationship and understanding for ourselves. If a minister is not leading the church in a manner you can agree with, leave the church and pray for him. If his life is a lie, leave the church and pray for him. Humans have a sinful nature. None of us is perfect. I've always understood that. I guess I was under the impression that most others were as well. |

I agree Conskeeted. I have mixed views about this person writing a book about megachurches and megapastors. I think on one hand it's not our place to expose "the mess." Then on the other hand, I see how and why people are so upset with how this new movement has become a business versus a ministry and feel the need to speak out against it. My personal opinion: God will do the exposing in due time. We need to continue to go the church that we feel we're being ministered to and pray for the state of our nation. |
Did anyone else catch Fox5 last night in Atlanta? Juanita had an exclusive interview with them and discussed the attack, her feelings, and plans in the future. She admitted that there was "pushing and shoving" in the past in their relationship. She also said she's filed for divorce already.

Juanita Bynum Better Quit Playing With Me
From http://www.sandrarose.com/news.htm Televangelist Juanita Bynum has a special request for emergency seeds for a new 'threshing floor'. This is a place where she says she goes to pray for you - or at least those of you who sow your seeds of $1000 or more. In this video Juanita says she has been asked to leave her old threshing floor. Probably for the same reason her husband the Bishop was evicted from his threshing floor - not paying his mortgage on time. Now Juanita says God has given her the land to build a new threshing floor - the new spot boasts 30 acres with 12 lakes where she will go and "touch God for you". All she needs is $200,000 in "emergency seeds right now" to start building. Silly me, I thought you could pray anywhere at anytime for anyone. But I guess not. You see I learned something new from Juanita today. http://link. brightcove. com/services/ link/bcpid115515 9835/bclid111926 2077/bctid117588 6646 (video where she petitions for money) |

I pray folks discern that none of this is of God. You don't need to pay anybody to pray for you. As long as you have a mouth, you can pray. As long as you have thoughts, you can pray. I just wondered: Do deaf people pray using sign language? I am genuinely curious.:o |
She need to stop playing

If she really needs this money, why not pawn those wedding rings? Sell that wedding dress on Ebay. Today a Soror sent an e-mail where Weeks is selling all of her stuff -- books, tapes, etc. for $5 and other things are being sold for 99 cents. These folks are low DOWN!!! |
Are you serious? I think they're true colors are kinda being exposed right now. Just not cool.

Title of the E-mail is Everything Must Go! $5 Sale

That's just WRONG! I can't believe it.

^^^Big time pastors stooping to that level? It sounds so elementary. I know it's nothing new, but it's just wack.
|
ok, wow.. that's just tacky.
And why would I pay $1000 for someone else to pray for me??:mad: Bynum always struck me as a bit smarmy. |
Quote:
And people still wonder why her marriage is falling apart. I wish I would send her a cool grand to pray for me. If that thought should cross my mind I ask God to remove it right now. The devil IS a lie. |
May I Preach for a Second
Furthermore, no one needs ANYBODY to pray for them. We can pray for ourselves. God resides in us. We don't have to go to the high preist any more. Jesus paid it all for us so we can have that personal relationship with Him.
This is an example of a "form of godliness." II Tim 3:5 --Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. I'm done now. |
This is like a scene in a movie.....
Quote:
Reminds me of that scene in Waiting To Exhale when Angela Bassett was having a $1 yard sale of all of her cheating husband's expensive belongings. This is just too trifling and sad -- and not a good representation of Christianity. (...but why start now, I guess, after the parking lot madness?!?) ::::good grief:::: |
That man needs money to keep himself out of jail and debt! Juanita Bynum would still get half of that money anyway.

Good point -- and, truth be told, in a minute it is probable that they would never be able to get that inventory sold. |

I don't know everything but I do know that prayer is always and will always be free! If you can't go to God for yourself, don't expect anybody else to do it for you. Although I do believe in others joining in your petition to God and praying to God for you, don't be lazy and not pray for yourself. Right now, Juanita and Thomas need to BE QUIET and be praying for themselves. |
So True!!

Hallelujer .....Amen, sisterGreek! Preach :) |
There was an article about her on the fron page of the NYTimes today. Anyone see it?
Here's the link. Quote: Since the attack, Ms. Bynum, 48, has tried to reinvent herself once more, announcing that she is “the new face of domestic violence.” But Tom Joyner, the syndicated radio talk show host, did not let her off the hook so easily: “If you’re a prophet,” Mr. Joyner asked, “didn’t you see this coming?” |

bwhahahahahahaha...... *goes to read for her response to that* ETA: she had none. I dont even know what to say about the article. |
Quote:
The assault, Dr. Lee said, is a challenge to Ms. Bynum’s credibility: “Maybe she’s been living a lie all these years.” Uhh, yeah. But during the marriage, Ms. Bynum publicly focused on the duties of a Christian wife, counseling women to give their husbands plenty of sex and to ask them, “Do I please you?” Juanita sit DOWN! About this time, Ms. Bynum glamorized her own look, trading a bun for a hair weave, picture-perfect makeup and plastic surgery that she discussed on the BET network. Her wardrobe went from ankle-length skirts to casual chic and glittering jewelry. Say what? In the seminars, she sermonized, “I don’t care what kind of husband you got, that’s your covenant vow, and you have a responsibility to make him feel like he’s a wonder when you know he ain’t.” The hell I do. |
Dang!
I thoughtshe had gone under the knife. Playing choich and playing with the Lord. ^ |------ wants no part of that! My prayers don't cost a thing, but WORTH SO MUCH!!!!!! |
Quote:
Wow, just wow. She really need to just lay low and keep quiet. |
That last statement really got to me. If he aint wonder to me, why would I make him feel like that? Isn't that a lie?
I have a real problem with people who have blatant self esteem issues telling me how to "get and keep a man". Keep playing with Him and see what happens. |
