I'll catch the 9:00 replay tonight but FYI.

OrangeMoon 03-13-2005 09:57 PM

I finally watched "Meet the Browns" OMG it was too funny. Mr. Brown is off the rocker for real. LMAO

Diovanka8 03-19-2005 12:12 AM

Waiting on the DVD's for Madea Goes to Jail and Madea's DayCare.

Tyler Perry is doing it, I just hope that they won't try to jerk him. His house is amazing. Bless that man, he deserves it all.

I hope HE won't be his own enemy. He disses where he is from and everything about the NO. If it wasn't for your trials and battles at home, he wouldn't be where he is today. He needs to remember some of the "morals to his stories".

BlueReign 03-22-2005 12:49 PM

Has anyone seen Madea's Christmas? I bought it a month ago and have yet to sit down and watch it.

Im_just_me 03-22-2005 01:07 PM

If your takling about what I think you are talking about, then I have. I saw in on TBN a week or so before Christmas. It was pretty good, considering the fact that it was on the "Church Channel" and Madea had to tone it down a bit...ok, tone it down a lot!!

AKA2D '91 06-24-2005 06:40 PM

1. Diary...comes to DVD on 6/28
2. The Tyler Perry Oprah repeat: 6/29
3. All the plays will be available for wide release on 6/28

btb87 06-28-2005 09:07 AM

A friend just sent this to me from Tyler Perry's e-mail club:

Wow, wow wow! This has been one of the most amazing years of my career and I thank God for all of you. You didn't have to sell out all the shows on this tour, but you did. You didn't have to make Diary number one at the box
office, but you did. Thank you. I know you are with me and I know what side my bread is buttered on, (smile).

I see you all are hitting the message board about me coming to your area. We have one more year on this tour and we're adding a lot of new cities. So get ready to bail Madea out of jail in your town!

As you know Diary of a Mad Black Woman is out on video tomorrow. I hope you are excited to get it. You can buy your copy just about everywhere; Wal-Mart, Target, Blockbuster, Best Buy.you name it. So go out and get it
and see all of the added footage and the behind the scenes antics. I know you will enjoy it.

Let's make this DVD the #1 movie sold this week. Let's show them that we want more movies like this and as you all know the only color that Hollywood respects is green. So go out and get the DVD for yourself or for someone
that is going through. What an effective tool to give to someone that you don't quite know how to tell they need to get out of a bad situation.

Oh by the way, one of the producers of the Oprah show told me that the ratings were so high the day we were on that they will rerun the show. So if you missed it the first time, it airs again June 29th.

Hey, did you see 20/20? What did you guys think? You know I used to be able to go to the message board and see what you thought of the shows but "some of yall aint talking to me no mo? What's up? I'm lonely.talk to me
(laughing out loud)". That was Madea talking. On the other hand, I did get all the e-mails about me and Tyra Banks.

I'm leaving the country for a week on vacation so pray for me as I try to get a little rest before I start shooting Madea's Family Reunion on July 11th. Oh and don't think I'm being selfish because not only am I going on vacation, I am sending my cast and crew and their families on an all expense paid vacation to a destination of their choice because they all worked so hard the past six months. So whisper a prayer for them if you don't mind. It's time to rest and restore, but we will be back soon.

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to be able to do this. May God bless you.

Tyler

^^

I did see that segment on 20/20. I was impressed. I will also buy "Diary" at Wally World when I get paid again. I think the other plays are also available there too.

LibraStar 06-28-2005 09:45 PM

FYI Everyone,

I just came back from my friendly neighborhood Wal-Mart..and all the plays (Meet the Browns, I Can Do Bad All By Myself, Madea's Family and Class Reunions) were on sale for a whopping $12.84 and Diary of a Mad Black Woman was $19.44 for the double DVD ($17 something for the movie alone). Although I went in just for the movie, I ended up with all of them....probably the best $70 I've spent all week.... now... can someone PLEASE lend me that $70 so I can pay the car note???

Just kidding....

AKA2D '91 06-28-2005 10:38 PM

I did the same thing.

Did Wal-Mart have the DVDs in the electronics section or at the checkouts (entrance)?

When Dave Chappelle's DVDs came out last month, his were located at the checkouts. Madeas were located in the back w/ electronics. :o

I was disappointed that the Diary play was not released. I guess that will be released after the movie's hype dies down.

LibraStar 06-28-2005 10:55 PM

They had Diary of a Mad Black Woman at the checkout stand, but the full display (large cardboard holder with all the movies and plays together) was in the back in electronics. On a side note, I tried to go to Target on my lunch hour and they said they only got 2 of each play at that particular store and the other stores in the area weren't going to carry them at all (probably has a lot to do with the neighborhood I work in) .

Great Movie! I definitely recommend it.

CrimsonTide4 02-25-2006 05:23 PM

It was very enjoyable even though I had to sit near some Chatty Cathys.

Lynn Whitfield knows she is a pro at playing evil.

You are right at Lynn Whitfield----Perry picked the right person for that role.

MeezDiscreet 02-26-2006 01:03 AM

i enjoyed it. but that wedding scene...let's just say it wouldn't be at MY wedding!

RedefinedDiva 02-26-2006 03:05 AM

HC....

HC I had to leave early because y'all cousins were cuttin' the fool in the theater!!

Babies crying, cell phones ringing, folks talking and cussing...

I should have followed my first mind and waited. I will N-E-V-E-R go to see another one of "our" movies on the opening weekend (and maybe not even within three weeks of it opening). If I do, I need to be at the 10am showing, when all of y'all cousins should be in school or at work.

However, what I saw was great. I will definitely be getting this when it comes to DVD.

There was just way too much gaudy in that wedding, lol.

Gaudy ain't the word for what that was. I will be going to see it again as well because some of crew I went with talked too damn much. And Lynn Whitfield and her vacation in hell comment.

Not just the angels, but the PIANO suspended from the ceiling...:o

::speechless::

I would like to order a Boris Kodjoe (sans fake afro) and Henry Simmons sandwich to go please. :D

This movie tried to cram in a whole bunch of "messages". Every time a character would take it there, I felt like yelling out MESSAGE!

Overall, it was a cute movie.

How about folks quoting some parts of the movie I "know" were not in the previews...guess some saw the bootleg copy b4 coming to view it on the big screen.

I want to support our movies, but I'ma need the theater to have a 9 or 10 am showing on the opening weekend .... cause I know "we" are not gonna get up that early for a movie.

Lynn Whitfield was made for that part!

Boris Kodjoe was fine...even with the Afro. Not really feeling Henry Simmons or Blair Underwood.

It was a good movie though, I will be getting it on DVD.

9dstpm 02-26-2006 12:41 PM

I LOVED it!!!! I got off work at noon on Friday and went to the 2:30 showing. Talk about NO crowds, no cell phones, no talking!!! There was this one chick with her squalling baby, but she got told about herself!!! My high (and low) lights:

The wedding was pretty but the live angels and the suspended pianos were too much.

Blair Underwood is getting on my nerves with all these evil roles. Take a cue from Lynn Whitfield; learn how to play evil!!

Of course, Madea was off the hook!!

Stay until the VERY end!!! It's funny!!
