1 ~ College/University: Mercer University

2 ~ Chapter: Beta Sigma

3 ~ Collegian/Alumnae: Collegian

4 ~ ADPi/Panhellenic positions: NMC (newly elected...can't wait until the Fall for new Alphas!), and I've served on Panhellenic Executive Board

5 ~ Why I joined ADPi: I went through Recruitment as a Sophomore, so I knew where I wanted to go;) ...it was as simple as seeing the women in the chapter around campus and in what activities they were involved. I also had a close friend from high school join ADPi here two years before me, so she was a big influence as well.

6 ~ Favorite ADPi memory: Wow...so many! I cried during Pref Ceremony during Recruitment, but I think initiation was absolutely amazing, as well...especially experiencing it from the other side of it! :)

adpi*violet 01-31-2004 10:45 AM

1 ~ College/University: Valparaiso University

2 ~ Chapter: Eta Psi

3 ~ Collegian/Alumnae: Alumna

4 ~ ADPi/Panhellenic positions: NMC, Guard, Social were the big ones. Then of course Corresponding secretary, Pride Leader, maybe something else small? Can't remember... and it wasn't all THAT long ago.

5 ~ Why I joined ADPi: The women. I knew and respected some of the sisters from other activities I particpated in on campus. It was a pleasant suprise to also discover they were in a sorority. The group was very diverse. And then pref night hit me hard- with all the songs, poems, hugs, tears (of happiness of course!) and sisterly displays of affection. I knew right away that I belonged.
That was actually why i joined our local sorority. Why I joined ADPi was 'cause we, as a chapter, discussed and voted on the national organizations interested in expanding to our campus. Making our "bid list" and choosing ADPi was one of the few things every single woman in our chapter could agree on! Our local sorority values and the values of ADPi were essentially the same. It was definitely a mutual selection process.

6 ~ Favorite ADPi memory: Hmmm.... Writing a "diamond sister revealing" ceremony as NMC, which my sisters absolutely loved. It was exciting to start new traditions in a new chapter. To my knowledge, the chapter still uses that same ceremony 5 years later. How cool is that!

TN-TX ADPi 02-04-2004 03:48 PM

1. University of Tennessee at Martin
2. Delta Upsilon
3. Alumna
4. Corresponding Secretary, Alumnae Relations chair
5. I felt comfortable around all the ADPi's, I knew I could be myself around them, and they were, in my opinion, the most well respected sorority on my campus.
6. My favorite memory was probably this past bid day when I got to welcome my younger sister into the sorority! I guess we are "double" sisters! :) Also, my bid day and initiation, among other things.

canadianADPi 02-05-2004 09:06 PM

1. College or University: University of Manitoba, CANADA
2. ADPi Chapter: Beta Theta www.alphadeltapi.ca

3. Collegian or Alumnae: Collegian

4. ADPi and Panhelleic positions held: Current President and Panhel rep. Last year I was RVP/FRC and also Greek Council rep

5. Why you joined ADPi: I heard so many great things about sorority life from my best friend who is a Pi Beta Phi in Edmonton so I decided to check it out and loved ADPi!!!!

6. Favorite ADPi memory: Everyday I see my smiling sisters, and ever event I spend with them!

ADPi Scrapper 02-06-2004 07:18 PM

1. College or University: Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona

2. ADPi Chapter: Gamma Rho

3. Collegian or Alumnae: Alumnae

4. ADPi and Panhelleic positions held: Recruitment Information Manager and Historian

5. Why you joined ADPi: I didn't want my college experience to be just going to classes, since I didn't live in a dorm. I am always open to new experiences, and I knew that joining a sorority would expose me to people and things I would have missed otherwise. I did an informal rush, so I never rushed another house or even considered it! I am and always will be an ADPi!

6. Favorite ADPi memory: My candle passing at our Spring Formal.

raiderchic482 02-07-2004 05:11 PM

1. College or University: Texas Tech University
2. ADPi Chapter: epsilon epsilon
3. Collegian or Alumnae: Collegian (Alpha)
4. ADPi and Panhelleic positions held: n/a
5. Why you joined ADPi: I joined adpi because I realized that I want to be part of an organization of ladies that will stick by each other through everything, and that I felt the one thing from my college experience I was missing was sisterhood. I also felt comfortable being me, and not shy with the sisters of adpi.
6. Favorite ADPi memory: Seeing last night was bid night that's tops so far! As well as finding out I was accepted !

lonestaradpi 02-10-2004 10:54 PM

1. College or University: Southwest Texas (SWT) aka Texas State University. The name changed this past year, Boo!

2. ADPi Chapter: Epsilon Zeta

3. Collegian or Alumnae: Alumnae

4. ADPi and Panhelleic positions held: EVP, Scholarship, Chaplain, RhoChi

5. Why you joined ADPi: They were the best girls on campus and I wanted to be part of that. They were beautiful, smart, outgoing, very well rounded! I was an informal rush girl but still had the opportunity to go to other houses on campus and even got bids from the other groups. I felt so comfortable with all the ADPi's - plus, I loved their house - I know that is shallow, but it's the honest truth! ADPi had their rush parties later than the other groups and I already had turned down the other sororities because I really wanted to be an ADPi.

6. Favorite ADPi memory: Wow, there are so many. Only 10 girls lived in our house and I was able to live there two different years. We ate, slept, drank, etc ADPi! With such a small group living we became very close. We did so many fun and crazy things together! Wow, this really makes me think about all the outrageous things we did!:) What fun times!

delta_guppie 02-12-2004 01:08 AM

Hi ladies! My name is Brandy~ but all my sisters call me "Guppie"<----- long story!!!!

1. McNeese State University in Louisiana

2. Delta Eta (chapter 103)

3. I'm a Collegian

4. I was the 2002 spirit chair, the 2003-04 RVP and Formal recruitment chair, and the 2004-05 RVP and Guard

5. I joined adpi b/c i was a long way from home and the girls were absolutely wonderful~my family (home) away from home.

6. My favorite memory at delta eta would have to be 2003 bid day, when my chapter recruited 11 beautiful young ladies. ( Our chapter hadn't recruited over 3 girls during formal recruitment in the last 5 yrs.

Thanks for letting me post!

Pi-love,
Brandy<-------- aka: "Guppie"

I LOVE the poem "The Guppy"!!! Welcome, welcome!!

The Guppy (by Ogden Nash)

Whales have calves,
Cats have kittens,
Bears have cubs,
Bats have bittens,
Swans have cygnets,
Seals have puppies,
But guppies just have
little guppies.

Okay, now y'all know that I have a definite strange streak to me!!

Adelphean1851 02-22-2004 07:46 AM

Hi

1. University of Nevada Las Vegas
2. Episilon Rho
3. Alumnae
4. in college, I was music chair for a couple of semesters which is tough because no one ever wants to learn new songs.
Now, i'm slated to take over VP of Programming for the Greater Orlando assocation in June.

5. I knew I wanted to join Adpi my first orientation day at UNLV, all the greeks had booths set up in the student union and this girl from ADPi came up to me and asked "do you want to know about my sorority?" We proceeded to talk and that was it, Danielle introduced me to other Adpi's and when I came back in the fall I started hanging out with them, they all remembered me! I knew half of the girls in the rush room and soon after I knew the other half. I could just tell that they were a real sisterhood. As for Danielle? she became my diamond sis and the rest is history.

6. unfortunately my memories with my sisters are few because my second year at UNLV I was not happy with my department and opted to transfer back home. But my year with my chapter was a happy year and some of my fondest memories are from my pride, one of our favorite activites was to go to the hotels on the Las Vegas strip and take random pictures in our letters, also serenades when I was an Alpha. Bonding with the sisters was great and the Delta Chi's put on a spectacular show in wich their pledges danced and two of the brothers sang more than words in harmony. It was like having our own personal backstreet boys on campus.
I also have memories of visiting other chapters after I had to leave mine. Like attending a sleepover at Alpha Pi chapter GWU and playing truth or dare till the wee hours of the AM. and staying at Iota chapters house while auditioning at FSU. Being in ADPi limbo for a few years taught me the true meaning of sisterhood and now that I am offically alumne I am excited about being able to have a "home" once again.
L&L,
Deb

USFAlum 02-24-2004 01:23 AM

University of South Florida
Zeta Omega UCF
Alumnae
4. ADPi positions held: RVP, MEVP, Pride Leader, Alumni Relations Chair and I am currently Fundraising Chair of the Alum Association and on the ADPI House Corp Board
5. Why I joined ADPi: All of the SAE's that I met over the summer told me that they were the nicest coolest girls. I also had a lot of friends that were older than me go ADPi at UF, USF, and FSU. I tried to keep an open mind, but ADPi just blew me away with their accomplishments. They were sorority of the year, had the highest GPA for 16 semesters, and were beautiful both inside and out. It was truly the best decision of my college career.
6. Favorite ADPi memory: I have so many it's hard to pick just one! I was famous in my chapter for hosting the ADPi Holliday Party at my mom's house every year. One year they brought my mom out and sang little ADPi to her. She and I cried and hugged in front of the whole chapter. She is not an ADPi and that was something that I will always be able to share with her. I am actually trying to get her initated with the chapter before I leave for grad school.

1. Mc Neese State University

2. Delta Eta

3. Alumnae

4. Chaplain, Corresponding Sec, Scholarship chair, NMC, MEVP, and alumnae relations

5. I always swore that I would never join a sorority, but I only knew one person knew I got to McNeese. She met a girl in one of her clases that invited her to a COR event. She draged me with her. Once I got there, the girls were so nice. So, after about 2 weeks, I decided to join!!! And it was the best decision that I have ever made!!

6. How could I ever pick one favorite memory??? I guess it would be when a bunch of us took a rode trip to my parents house in New Orleans. I have never laughed so hard in my life. But there are sooooooooo many othere wonderful and dear moments!!

adpi1030787 03-15-2004 04:52 AM

OOOO My Guppie,

I love and miss you bunches!!!!!! Ya'll have no idea how much I miss all of ya'll. Not a days goes by that I don't wish I was back there with all of my wonderful sisters. My "Mini Me" dog poster is right in eye's view when I lay in bed at night. So, I think of you on a daily basis!! (And now I am crying. Go figure) I just wanted to say,"Hi!," Tell you how much you mean to mean. Let me know when Spirit Week is. Maybe I can find a way to come visit then. O, and I was sooooo proud when ya'll had 11 girls walk through that door on bid day. Especially proud of you!!!! Keep up the good work!!

TT love,
Brandi

P.S. Guppie calls me Mini Me ( and so do all of all my sisters)

Yay for all the MEVP's out here! :D

honeychile 03-16-2004 10:26 PM

Well, since Alpha Delta Pi is *only* 153 years old, I suppose I could say it was more like 120 years ago...

Never did get a chance to meet Eugenia, y'all.

1. University of North Texas / Texas State
2. Gamma Upsilon / Epsilon Zeta
3. I'm a Delta!
4. I've held... 6 or 7?
5. Because during recruitment I never had awkward moments, and it seemed like everyone I talked to was really fun and interesting, and like I actually had made friends, which I didn't get from the other chapters.
6. Tagging cars after the last meeting of the semester with my little sis, for no reason and in secret. of course everyone knew who did it within a few days, but it was fun listening to girls guessing.

Grace_E 03-27-2004 02:18 AM

1. Univ. of Southern Mississippi
2. Eta Zeta
3. Pi
4. Philanthropy chair, Public Relations

5. During rush everything seemed so uptight and fast paced. When I was with my sisters it felt like home away from home. All the girls were incredibily sweet.

6. Once we had a faux fashion show and invited some guys from various frats to be the judges. I think we surprised everyone with how goofy we were and we all dressed up as mock beauty queens. After that the guys that were there definitely didnt think we were as laid back as everyone preceived us to be.

adpicar 04-06-2004 12:49 PM

Western Kentucky University

Fall 1999

During recruitment, they totally captured my heart and attention. All the girls were open and willingly to answer any questions. Then when I received my bid for ADPI - I was elated!! ADPI is one of the larger sororities on campus and now I was apart of it.
Now that I am alum, I am so happy that I joined ADPI - it has been everything a little girl could dream of.

I miss my pledge sisters though!!

4. ADPi and Panhelleic positions held

5. Why you joined ADPi
My boyfriend introduced me to the Greek world and I've always been a loner. Now I have people who love and accept me!

6. Favorite ADPi memory
When I recieved my bid. It was informal (the first in chapter history) and I had just come back from and interest party. They suprised me as I was getting out of the shower! Thank God I was able to hold onto my towel because they had the digital camera ready!

Hugs, Katie

1. University of Northern Coloardo
2. Delta Chi
3. Alumna
4. ADPi held: Standards, Philanthropy, Reporter, Recording Secretary, Pride Leader
5. Why you joined ADPi: During summer semester, I met some very cool gals in class. They happened to be ADPi's. I was starting my junior year and had not really thought of joining a sorority. When Fall semester started, these same sisters were in my classes, along with a few others. After Formal Rush ended, they invited me over for pizza and to watch Friends. I felt so at home with these sisters and was offered a bid the next day.
6. Favorite ADPi memory: When my chapter brought me up on Standars and I was the Standards chair - that seriously happened but it is not my favorite memory!
One crazy night, we decided to raid the fraternity houses, since most of them were out of town for a sports tournament. We managed to move all of their identifying items around so when Sigma Pi came home, they had the SAE's trophies and composities in their house. We did this at 4 other houses too!

I am on the House Corporation and am in the office House Manager so I am in charge of our ADPi house. I am also VP of the Virtual Violets online alum assoc

Who joined: I joined ADPi because of how everyone treated each other. I loved how they were so down to earth and so real. I didnt want to join anything fake. Those girls were the best things for me. Not to mention I am a legacy. ( lots of family who are ADPis, but I didnt know my grandma was a ADPi till after I joined. We werent close until after I told her I was an ADPi then she and I became close until she passed away.)

Fave memory: Too many to name. The first three years I was in ADPi were the best times in the world I wouldnt take back anything except my last semester since I was so busy I didnt get to come around much and I regret missing my last semester there.

Hello

1- Southeast Missouri State
2- Delta Nu
3- Collegian
4- Gift Mart Chair
5- I joined ADPi for many reasons at first... We are very well known in my community, we are a very strong chapter... we are competitive and so on... however, now I realize that my chapter is strong not because we win, but because of the strong sisterhood that we all share.
6- I have to sat that my favorite ADPi memory so far is initiating my diamond sister. I love her dearly, and I was so proud to call her my sister.

5. Why you joined ADPi
A very strong legacy in the family helped. But I met someone who really wanted to make sure I made the choice for myself. Her genuine concern made my choice easy.

6. Favorite ADPi memory
So many in college, but anymore the things that stick with me are women that have really grown through college and that I have advised along the way. One of the women last year told me how much she just tried to impress me in her role. She was amazing and impressed me as a sister and as an adult and she will be a friend for a long time.

Hi my name is Karen!!

1. Troy State University
2. Epsilon Kappa
3. Alumnae
4. Positions held: Special Events chair; Panhellenic Secretary/Treasurer; MEVP; Recording Secretary; Guard; Rho Chi; currently Social Advisor
5. I went through rush to meet new people and ended up absolutely loving it....at the beginning I would have been happy in ALMOST any of the orgs but now I couldn't see myself anywhere else
6. Wow, there are so many but probably the random things like midnight wal-mart trips, just hanging out in the T.V. room, etc..

Christy408 06-19-2004 10:29 PM

1. Illinois State University

2. Zeta Theta

3. Alumna

4. Currently I am the Alumnae Communications Director for District IV. I have been an Alumnae Association VP - Membership, Panhellenic Delegate (and then sec'y of that group) and when I was a collegian, I served as Giftmart Chair, (yes, I have the dangle too!), pride leader, assistant property manager, Membership Education Vice President & President. I was also a Recruitment Counselor

5. When I went through recruitment ADPi was the first chapter I visited on the first day. The sister I spoke with also ended up with me on the next round and then she said hi to me on the quad and used my name - I thought if they're all like that - then that is where I want to be!

6. There are many...I'll go with 2001 - District IV Leadership Conference - we were in Northbrook, IL and I was 7 months pregnant. (This is hard to tell w/o divulging ritual...) We re-installed Gamma Beta at Northwestern in conjunction with it and I assisted - I was given a job during initiation to do that allowed me to sit. I was all belly...picture that in initiation attire.
I am also honored to have had my photo taken with Miss Blake at the last convention she attended.

On the side - I have a strange ADPi hobby - when I go on vacations & I'm in (or going through) a town w/ an ADPi chapter that has a house, I find the house and take it's picture. I've got 8 so far...my dream is to someday take all of them...a girl's got to have retirement plans right?? I now also take a picture of the college campus if there isn't a chapter house. (And I've missed about 6 of those in my travels in the last 6 years.)

ADPiAkron 06-22-2004 11:09 AM

Welcome to the board Christy!! It is so nice to see another District IV sister here!! I believe we have communicated over email before...I was President of the Akron Area Alumnae Association in 2002 and have been on the board in other positions since 2000 (currently the newsletter/web editor)!! Good to have you here!

4. I joined ADPi because after I saw how much fun my other friends were having in various sororities, I wanted something like that too. It was also a way for me to meet alot of friends when I was away from home.

5. Hmm..so many. Probably the "pass the alphie" we had one year during our first formal recruitment in forever. Parties and formals too.

honeychile 07-16-2004 11:02 PM

Welcome, Karen, Sue, Katie & Christy (and anyone I missed)!!

Christy, I was curious if you know exactly where the Alpha Delta Pi plaque is located on UIC or UC campus? Everytime I'm in Chicago, I want to take a picture of it, but since Beloved is a GDI, I best know exactly where it is first!! ;)

5. I still remember the person who convinced me to join ADPi- her name was Lisa. I didn't really want to go ADPi when I went through recruitment, but talking to her and seeing it through her eyes made me want to find out more. Now I know that I found where I belong. I LOVE ADPi, and I partly have her to thank for it.
6. Playing "I never" with my Alpha Class right after initiation. It was the first time I realized that I had so much more in common with the other girls that I thought I did! hehehe
6a. (sorry, I have lots of these) Meeting a random girl on the bus to chapter retreat. She is now my best friend in the whole world! I don't know what I would do without her!

5. Why you joined ADPi-- I knew after waiting to join a sorority that the girls in ADPi that I had classes with were the girls for me. ADPi was truly one of the best things that happened to me, and couldn't have come at a better time. Even with opposition from family members and friends, I wouldn't trade it for the world!!! My ADPi sisters are the greatest sisters in the world!!!

6. Favorite ADPi memory-- Too many to count......but I'll try to narrow it down....
Bid Day, 2003 when I ran back to my sisters after 2 1/2 months of disaffiliation from my chapter because I was a Gamma Chi (even though that experience was awesome too!) Saying goodbye to some of my best friends was hard, but running back was fabulous! Running into the arms of a roommate I hadn't seen or spoken to in too long was unforgettable.

Singing All That Jazz for StepSing in our tribute to Broadway was fun, too. It's always nice to hear people compliment your solo singing with whoops and hollers!!!
