@AZTheta She got a bid from SDT last night and couldn't be happier!! I give her a lot of credit for going through the process a second time and am thrilled that she ended up where she wanted to be. Thanks for asking. :)
|
@scrabblemomb - that is WONDERFUL NEWS and I couldn't be happier for her (and you!). I predict she will have a lifetime of enjoyable membership. I hope she'll become involved with alumnae panhellenic(s) after she graduates. I've benefitted so much from my own membership and love interacting with women of all GLOs. We are everywhere!
Going to venture this about Indiana: the changes are happening. Very very slowly, but they are happening. |

Thank you for all of the kind words for my daughter. She called me today and is still over the moon. I appreciate all of your postings that helped me as a mom get through IU's tough recruitment not once, but twice!! I am greek, but from a small school in Pennsylvania where things were very different. Again, thank you for your support!

Congratulations scrabblemom and hooray for your daughter!
|
It appears that Dphie only took 11 new members

And you felt the need to post just their numbers why? |
Hi!!! My daughter is in SDT at IU (I am an SDT too but not at IU) and I welcome your daughter to their amazing sisterhood... Private Message me so I can properly introduce myself.
A little background: My daughter got in as a sophomore as the first year through recruitment was horrible with the snowstorm and she is a dance major and so she had to miss several houses in every round both years due to her rehearsals and the show was actually the entire 9 party and 3 party weekend both years - and the department heads don't allow for a single absence! Year one of recruitment was not good - she was a legacy to two houses and didn't even make it through the first year where she had 3 houses in pref round and went bidless (a true shame) even as a legacy to two houses! I think she either fell through the cracks or there was a mismatched name (there is actually another girl with her same exact name on campus except for one letter in her last name!). And last year - she missed so many houses in each round including her other legacy house (even though she went to that legacy pre-rush event but couldn't make it to the first two rounds due to her rehearsals) due to her schedule but had her top choices and full cards all the way till the end. She adores SDT and the girls are amazing! Welcome to the family!!!! |
How did Alpha Xi Delta do?

"Only" tips it over into kinda rude. Just saying.

Those reporting numbers were reporting groups that made quota. It has been much discussed in this thread that all chapters were being told to take 50, and it wasn't like this group missed by only a few. If the reply had been that "it looks like one chapter fell below quota" or even "one chapter took x number of girls" that would not have been as bad. But given that she named the sorority and the number, in the context where we all knew what quota was, it just seemed unnecessary to draw that type of attention on the chapter at this time. There is a difference between something being a true statement and something being a true statement that needs to be broadcast. I've heard they plan to do COB, which even despite the upcoming colonization is being allowed. I wish them all the best. |
Do we have numbers for the other chapters? And we'll hope for the best for any chapters who didn't meet their desired numbers. Some girls undoubtedly mis-matched so hopefully they will consider an alternative.
|
I don't know for sure, I just counted heads on instagram, but it looks like Alpha Xi took ~57
|
AOII reported 55 new members (twitter).

The rumors are that Sigma Kappa (recolonizing this spring) will have a house in the very near future. I have no idea if that is true or not, and "near future" is still likely to be 2-3 years away, possibly after this year's freshmen are gone.
But, because the rumor is out there, many women see the SK colonization process as a better opportunity than joining one of the other unhoused chapters. Unfortunately, I think it will be very difficult for the group that had a poor recruitment result to COB until after SK's process is complete. (Source: chit-chat among collegians at that other big Indiana university, which is to say, third-hand info that should be taken with a giant grain of salt) |
Photos coming soon, since I'm snowed in for the weekend in DC!

I haven't been able to find full PC pictures of AEPhi, KKG, or Phi Mu

Even if you hate deferred rush... I think you have to admit that one good thing about it is the long sleeve t-shirts are cuter than the baggy tank tops. ;)
|
^I really don't understand the comfort colors/giant baggy shirts obsession. Comfort Colors stuff is all dull colors, like the stuff has been washed too much, and I just don't like when the size small fits like an extra large.
|
I have a great Comfort Colors in a bright aqua. It is soooo comfy! Love it! And I like them baggy....BTW, I'll be 70 on Monday
|
I love a giant sweatshirt and a good pair of leggings. I have to say that the new members were treated right, there were some great looking bid day (sweat)shirts! Our bid day swag in the old days was nothing like that! Looks like a couple of chapters got tee shirts and zip up hoodies. A couple of chapters got cool sew ons. And I saw some cute hats/accessories.

Tichou,
In case I don't get on tomorrow--HAPPY BIRTHDAY a bit early! Remember--70 is the new 60--or is it 50? ENJOY your day.... |
Thanks!
