I don't normally do this, but you guys. I'll be in Johanesburg in August. I know Dave was born there, if any of you got the hospital where he was born, I'll take a pic and send to it through the e-mail. Damn, sound like those obsessive tiny booppers. (sp?)

this is bad - i'm dreaming bout buying the cd

EagleChick19 07-17-2002 10:17 AM

That is when you know you love DMB!

SigmaChiCard 07-17-2002 10:37 AM

I really am thrilled that you guys are so ecstatic that there is a new dave cd, I haven't yet got it, but I'm sure I probably will, but geez...I may not just because I'm sick of hearing about it. I don't mean any direct offense, but is the release of this album which is really just sort of the rerelease of the album that monumental in some peoples lives? Forgive my ignorance, but I have difficulty seeing the difference here between enthusiasm and obsessiveness

EagleChick19 07-17-2002 01:43 PM

Was that really necessary??!?

amycat412 07-17-2002 01:52 PM

yeah. Jeez Cory, rain on our fun! ;)

I think its a GOOD thing that we can all get so excited about something as simple as the release of a CD by our favorite band.

And nothing wrong with being obsessively into them either. :) Its healthy and fun.

:)

EagleChick19 07-17-2002 01:56 PM

We're all just having fun with this thread!!!

SigmaChiCard 07-17-2002 02:27 PM

i apologize.

amycat412 07-17-2002 02:32 PM

:D No worries Cory!!!!!

Star Turtle 07-17-2002 02:45 PM

subsitute~

Okay, so i may be too po' to get the cd, but i did pick up my tickets to the concert today!

yummie - dave live!

gphi2k2 07-17-2002 02:51 PM

Is it just me or is Grace is Gone a little quick and jazzy given what the song is about? I love it, of course, but if you listen to the words, and then jam to the music, you realize something is a little off.

Granted, I have a feeling it might have something to do with the fact that part of the reason the LWS were scrapped in the first place was because of the persistent morbidity throughout the songs. I guess this was a way of maintaining the lyrics while making it a little bit less despressing....I dunno.

And I listened to Grey Street again...still one of my faves. I remember it being so much more full of angst on the LWS. Dave did so much more of his characteristic moaning and groaning (you know what I'm talking about!) in the LWS version. Can't decide which version I prefer...

As for Cory's comment... common dude...do you notice a wee trend? We women love dave. It's not an issue of obsession, it's an issue of us all loving him. If you were as into him as we are, I'd be a bit concerned. But don't deny us our right to drool! Sheesh!

EagleChick19 07-17-2002 02:53 PM

All is forgiven! :)

EagleChick19 07-17-2002 10:44 PM

We still love ya, SigmaChiCard!

thetakates 07-17-2002 10:47 PM

Got the new CD. LOVE IT! But I keep thinking about how I am not a big as fan of him sober as he was when he was on all his drugs. I know i know that sounds so bad. But I noticed a huge difference in his performance last summer when I saw him at Farm-Aid. He just didnt seem like he really wanted to be there. Not so much that, I dont know maybe becuase the band wasnt with him that he didnt have his energy. Has anyone else seen him by himslef? Just wondering. But the wierd thing I keep thinking is that I can remember hearing these songs in July of 1999 at a concert and they were talking about the release of what was then Grey Street and is now known as TLWS. It seems wierd that they would let someone change their music that much and then end up releasing it because of the fact that it was not well recieved that they released other songs. I dont know what I am tlaking about! HAHA. Ok, someone tell me if they are following. I still love Dave though that is for sure and this CD has so much more respect already from me than Everyday. Even though I did like that CD it was more pop than Dave. Ok, well I am off my Dave spout.

Later yo!
Kate

EagleChick19 07-17-2002 10:48 PM

I'm following...

i thought i would say hello to all the dave fans from california. Eaglechick... any possible way to send that LWS CD to sacramento? i noticed you lived across the country. PM me.

Fav song on new CD: You never know.

It's funny... i DLed a lot of the songs from this album before it came out. and i actually liked the old version of captain that i DLed two years ago. But i ain't complaining. same with bartender, g is g, and a few others. Anyone know what album a song called JTR is located? I found it on a summer 2000 concert taping online and love it... just wondering if it was ever released on an album.

EagleChick19 08-07-2002 11:02 AM

Chideltjen, I sent you a PM!

( i suppose seeing him/dmb 3 times in a couple months makes up for not seeing him last year since he didn't come to the burgh)

oh and hey i have a couple pretty good live shows if anyone wants to trade... :D pm me!

Star Turtle 08-10-2002 10:37 PM

sweetie adpi:

i went to the saturday show (the 3rd) and it was my first dave concert ever - i was just in awe for most of the night - i still can't believe that i've seen dave live!

though the dude who dumped his cup of pee on my foot wasn't all that cool - and during two step of course! - ah well - at least i could still hear in while i washed my foot and my flip flops!

anyway - it was amazing and my lil sis (who i've already mentioned on the board) says it was TONS better than the first one she saw - we're thinking of going next year too!

gotta love dave
(star lake lawn seating too!)
