I would absolutely LOVE to see chapters of Phi Mu in more of the Big 12 schools and throughout the Midwest, also it would be cool to have some chapters on the West coast. The biggest amount of our chapters are in the South (like many sororities are) but I just think it'd be awesome if we spread out and had chapters all over the place! :D
|
What?? What?? Nobody wants to colonize at the good ole University of Rio Grande??? LOL!!:p :D ;)
Personally, I'd like to see Theta Chi and Delta Tau Delta come here for the fraternities. For the sororites... DZ, Phi Mu, KKG, AGD, AZD, or SSS. Plus it'd be nice if AST and PSS would be able to recolonize here. |
Well, I'd love to see Delta Zeta colonize or re-colonize at the following:
Vanderbilt University University of the South Ole Miss Any Ivy League school Syracuse Stanford University of Texas - Austin University of Michigan University of Hawaii Georgia Tech University of New Hampshire NYU University of Oregon Duke I'd love to have at least 1 chapter in every state ;) |

I also would like to see Alpha Gamma Delta at Brown University and the University of Rhode Island. |
hey-
anyone know what sororities are already at UNLV (where is that btw??) or pittsburgh state university in kansas?? i would love to have gamma phi colonize at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada and at either Ottawa U or Carleton U (both in Ottawa, Ontario). I would also like us to try to recolonize all of our inactive chapters. We could definitely use some more chapters (at least 1 in some states!!) in the following states: MT, WY, NM,LA, AR, SD, ND, ME, NH, DC,MO,CT,MS,HI,UT, TN and KY. i would love to see how each sorority decides where to expand and when. i mean, i know for most schools that already have NPC's that you have to be invited. but what about schools that have no greek life? |

Alpha Delta Pi Alpha Gamma Delta Alpha Xi Delta Delta Zeta Sigma Kappa |
I would love to see AGD recolonize at Georgia Southern, Armstrong (Savannah). Miss. State, Wisconsin and of course our Alpha Chapter at Syracuse..okay anywhere AGD had a chapter, lol!
New - Duke!!! I'd love to say Notre Dame but I can't stand..okay intensely dislike Regis P! And why is it that ND is ALWAYS Saturday TV football?? |

It'd be nice if they even had Greek Life. Good thing I didn't go! |
Alpha Phi needs to invade the south- That is why chapters in North Carolina are closing (mine at NCSU and UNC Asheville a few years ago) I think the philosophy is to "close chapters and re charter later when you can get a major group of girls to join.
We lack chaptesr in South Carolina, GA, Alabama, ete-- |
Alpha Chapter reopening at VMI would be cool.
I won't hold my breath though. |
Id love to see DG represented at more Cal State schools in SoCal!!! And of course at all Ivy League schools and of course more overseas....point being: so DG can be EVERYWHERE!!! whooohooo!!! HAHAHHAHAHA

we have Sigma Kappa ADpi Azd AGD DZ and about 13 fraternities |

Anyway, Pittsburg State has ASA, Tri-Sig and AGD. |
Would like to see us back at:
Florida State Emory Would love to come to: TCU Alabama Ole Miss Tennessee UNC Georgia Tech |
Sigma Alpha Mu is looking to expand to these schools, personally I wouldn't mind them adding University of Rhode Island or Brown University to that list. It would be great to have another Rhode Island chapter.
Penn Central Florida USC Florida State UCLA Kansas Florida Purdue Drexel Connecticut Northwestern SUNY Buffalo MIT U of Washington Cal State Northridge Carnegie Mellon Duke Oregon Harvard Cal State Long Beach North Texas Columbia Yale Princeton Emory Stanford McGill Toronto York Ryerson British Columbia |
I'd like to see KAT recolonize at the U. of Guelph so my chapter won't be the only sorority any more. Unfortunately, there's not enough support/interest for 2 groups at the moment.
I'd also like to see another fraternity at Guelph. DU's all we have. I say, bring back the Betas! But I'll take any GLO :D The more, the merrier! |
Chapter Expansion
I'd like to see DU return to UT-Austin. DU also needs to expand in the South. Particularly the deep south. IE Alabama, Duke, U. of the South.
Lost our Stanford Chapter in 1987 and Wash & Lee in 1972 these chapters need to be revived! Many New England chapters have also closed ,Williams, Amherst, Dartmouth, Colby and Brown. Interestingly Harvard was revived in 1999 after a 57 years of inactivity and had an 18 man pledge class this spring. Overall DU needs to focus on the South, California/ Mountain West and New England. Plenty of chapters in Canada and the Mid-West. |
Gamma Phi
I would like to see Gamma Phi Beta colonize at Florida and recolonize at Southwest Texas State (to be officially known as Texas State University on Sept 1). It's my alma mater although I was initiated at Georgia.
|
I'd love to see Sigma Alpha Mu come back to Emory! Along with the NPC groups we lost....DG, AXO, and Chi O come to mind.

I'd love to see an Alpha Chi Omega chapter at Wake Forest! Hopefully someday!
|
I want to go back to Duke
|
BUMP
Bring back AGD to Syracuse!!!!!!!! Also, I'd like to see AGD back at McGill and McMaster, if the people at MAC ever change their minds about GLOs. Doubt that will ever happen. I'd also like to see Canadian universities in general be more accepting of GLOs. |
I'd love to see ZTA at Vanderbilt, back at U of Kentucky, also Murray State in KY, and UofTenn-Chattanooga.

I woulds really love to see Alpha Phi populate the southern schools as well as UNLV, Cal Poly Pomona and Hawaii as well as UC riverside |
If alpha Phi Chartered at hawaii i would hands unselfishly volunteer my time to be their life long chapter advisor and reside there 24/7 :D
|
I would love to see some recolonizations of our single- and Beta-letter chapters... we had some at really amazing schools, but the ones I think we could best support are:
--UCLA (our Zeta chapter... we were the first national sorority on UCLA's campus, which i think is really cool!) --University of Michigan --University of Pittsburgh --University of Cincinnati --UC Berkley --Cornell --Tufts --University of Florida --University of Miami And the dream recolonizations would be: --Tulane --University of Texas --University of Missouri --University of Washington |
What happened at Emory?!?!? When I saw the number of chapters that have closed there, I have to admit that I did a search, because I couldn't believe it!!
ACW CW DG SSS SAM Shocking!! |

I'd really like to see us have at least one chapter in every state, but two or more would be super! |
Of course it would be cool to have Alpha Phi Omega's Alpha chapter recharter at Lafayette College...it only closed in the mid-90s.
Personally, I'd like to see a chapter at Lewis University or Benedictine University, close to me. |

What? Well, I guess that you learn something new everyday! But, according to even our Panhellenic webpage and the Alumni magazine, Chi Omega was the first. Just because they chartered, does it mean that they actually were successful as a colony? Maybe Phi Sig wasn't recognized by UCLA?
I'm very confused because UCLA has Chi Omega recorded as its first NPC sorority. Pondering how I am going to get this answered at 11:00 at night by a UCLA Panhellenic officer... :D |
the non-greek's opinion
i'd like to see bglo's officially recognized on campus. selfishly speaking, if i were going to join (and i wholeheartedly intend to) i would want to know there was a chapter of XYZ sorority on campus to rush, instead of going up to columbia or the city-wide chapter. same goes for the black frats.
overall, i wanna see NYU's greek scene to get hype! ive seen more nyu heads wearing letters, but theyre usually the same ones dphie aephi<---correct if wrong TKE and ive seen the latin frat, phi iota alpha<-- correct me again and latin sorority sigma iota alpha. but once again, greek is only big when ur in. peaches-n-cream: i know you cant speak for all nyu greeks, but why can't we get down? do you guys prefer low profiles, or is it nyu admin? |
Maybe because Chi O is still there? Or maybe because even though Phi Sig was a "national" organization at the time, we did not join the NPC until 1951? That might be a technicality though, because even if we weren't NPC at the time, we're still the first NPC group, right? Not sure. It's 2:30AM, so I'm not thinking straight...
I do know we chartered there in April of 1921 and I believe the chapter was there until 1972. Our past Grand Archon Judith Distler was from Zeta chapter and graduated in 1968. Thanks for the verification, Russ! I was worried our chapter roll and our little happy fact was all wrong! ETA: I noticed on the UCLA history timeline that only chapters who are still active at the UCLA campus are represented (at least, that's how it was for NPC groups - 11 currently active and 11 represented on the timeline). I am SURE there have been more than those 11 NPC groups recognized on UCLA's campus at one time or another, and they're not on the timeline. For another example (aside from Phi Sig), one of my sisters was an legacy to Alpha Chi Omega, which her mother was a member of at UCLA. But there's no mention of Alpha Chi Omega ever being there, at least not on the greek timeline i saw. Also, Sigma Delta Tau lists UCLA as their Lambda chapter, but they're also not mentioned on the timeline... There is also a little sidenote about how they're working to compile histories, and there may be inaccuracies. Whoever is working on the project may just be going off the information available, i.e. if Chi O prides itself on being the oldest chapter on campus, then assume that's accurate. Just a guess though... that would be very sad if we had been there all that time and had never been recognized!! I am going to email CO about it, but TriDeltaGal, if you hear back before I do, please let me know! |

Probably they started calling themselves "the first NPC sorority at UCLA" before 1951, when it was still true, and nobody thought to change it even after Phi Sigma Sigma was admitted to the NPC. |
UCLA: Phi Sigma Sigma, etc.
The 1977 edition of Baird's says that Phi Sigma Sigma was at UCLA from 1921 until 1973. It does seem that the web page on Greek history at UCLA is incomplete.
One additional factor affecting UCLA's list of firsts and such might be that in 1921, of course, Phi Sigma Sigma was not in the NPC -- although it was national. All this is a good reminder that just because it's on a web site somewhere doesn't make a statement absolutely true. |
I knew that they had nearly every NPC sorority on UCLA's campus at one time so it wasn't that I didn't think that Phi Sigma Sigma wasn't there but whether Chi Omega was the first sorority, NPC or not, at UCLA. But Sugar and Spice's info, cleared it up for me...I guess when UCLA claims the Chi-O is the first sorority on campus, they mean NPC sorority.
So go Phi Sig! First sorority at UCLA! |
polarpie, I was at The Pitt when ADP was there!
They had a large Chapter and a house, but werent "The Beautiful" Soroity! They were the first to have a run out with us as a Local and as a Member of LXA! One of Our Presidents Married an ADP and are still happily married in Minn! I would love to see them come back on campus! KD was on campus for about 2 years and looked like a great bunch of women and a large chapter! Dont know what happened to them!:( At Present; AGD, ASA, and SSS! |
