I think AJ should have been booted instead of Ejay but, hey, Ejay was an alternate. He made it two rounds further than he would have otherwise. AJ will probably go next week, maybe along with Nikki. It's difficult from next week on because almost all of the eight remaining have great voices. My final four prediction is Justin, Tamyra, Christina, and Kelly. I like Ryan a lot too, but I think she would be better doing Broadway or something.

BTW, the Simon cut-out voiced by Paula was HILARIOUS!

Ok it's 4 am and there are no posts from tonight's American Idol?!?! I'm shocked!

Here's my rundown:
My girl, Tamyra, sang my absolute favorite Tina Turner song "Fool in Love" , and she did it AWESOME! She's taking the competition, in my opinion.

AJ?!?! Sux much? GOD! GO HOME! You're driving me crazy and this is the 2nd week in a row you've sang a song that annoys me!

Kelly really stepped up tonight, in my opinion. She has a great voice and she has stage presence.

Nikki, sang JANIS JOPLIN?!?! That's holy ground for me, and while I halfway liked it (cause I could tell that was more her style than last week) she seemed off beat at the beginning. I couldn't tell if it was on purpose or accident.

Ryan has a cool voice, but she's got bad stage presence, which can also be said for AJ (yuch!!!) and kindof Nikki and RJ (because he just straddles and rocks back and forth while raising his eyebrows over and over again)

May I just say that for once I agreed with Simon on every comment?!? Maybe he does know what he's talking about!;)

Ryan really sucked last night, but I didn't want to see her go b/c i know she can do better. And she was definately better than AJ. Glad to see that they've gotten rid of all those who shouldn't have been there to begin with!
I'm not sure who I want to win or go. I really don't like Justin. I don't like his look at all, he looks like he walked off the Partridge Family or something. I don't know, it just might be that lately I don't like skinny guys. But i just think he's a huge dork. I pretty much like everyone else though....... it's going to be tough from now on for me to decide.

Good heavens, what was up with Paula tonight? I do actually *like* her, seriously! But either Simon/the writers came up with their little bit of sparring at the end or Paula just went off the deep end. Paula, honey, get over it--no matter how much you try you aren't going to be able to outsnark Simon. It's that British accent :D

I'm not complaining about AJ being voted off, although I expected it to be Ryan. I think Ryan expected it, she was there in body but certainly not spirit! She looked **HORRIBLE** tonight, very spaced out and her face looked puffy/bloated. Then again, she probably figured she was about to be kicked off Idol-island and probably almost was.

Snaps for Nikki not being in the bottom 3 this week. I hope she finds another "Total Eclipse" performance for next week and blow everyone away. I think with the right songs and right support, she could have a nice career.

And while I'm on a roll: Please, please, please, find some new hosts for AI2. Hey, producer/director/writer-types: come up with some decent filler instead of "dramatic commercial breaks." I thought the crowd was going to rip the host-bots to shreds after the second "and we'll find out after these messages" break.

What about Simon's body language when Christina was in the bottom 3? Oh boy, could he have done anything other than said "I don't care what the American public says, I'm gonna sign the girl and make her a STAR!" Come on Simon, think with your brain and not the rest of your anatomy, honey.

I am SO glad someone else said they don't like Justin. He is SO cocky it makes me crazy. I really really don't like him. And he has no vocal range. Yah, sure, he has presence. But whatever. Let's trim his hair a bit and then see how many 13 year old girls still swoon :rolleyes: .

I almost ALWAYS agree with Simon. Last night was no exception. And i'm really really getting sick of the judges bickering. It was funny at first, but now it's just boring and lame and really embarrising to watch.

And I can't BELIEVE christina was one of the lowest 3! She's been amazing every time, except for this last week, and nikki really wasn't good this week or last week.

As for Ryan, I totally commend her for coming out and doing something different. It's not like we haven't seen her shine and sing amazingly before. My guess is she thought 'well, they know i can sing, now let's show them I can rock!'. guess it didn't work out for her but I really can't believe she was second only to AJ!!!!!!!

Kelly is still my favorite. And Tamyra. In my dream world, they'd be the top two. I have a feeling swooning little girls will determine the outcome differently :(

The women really are a lot better than the men. I agree that Kelly and Tamyra were the best. They seem like they could be stars. Justin is cute, but that hair looks like Side Show Bob's from the Simpsons. :p Just kidding! ;) I really like Justin, too. :D

Next week is songs from the 1970's and the week after that is the 1980's.

I watched this last night with my girlfriend. I'd have to say that based on performances and his whiney voice AJ deserved to be gone. I found him to be annoying as hell... If it's a singing contest he deserved to lose a long time ago.

Who knows though, he may be a perfect replacement for that NSnyc fella that's in rehab.

Do you realize that of the six that are left, Tamayra, Kelly, and RJ have NEVER been in the final three? Tamayra and Kelly I can understand, but RJ??? He just manages to slip in there every week, doesn't he? He needs to change those jeans he wears every Tuesday though-that look is getting really tired :rolleyes:

Remember that there are only two guys left in the competition and all the young girls out there that adore BSB and Nsync are probably rooting for one of them...RJ is a cutie and, IMO, Justin is loosing a lot of votes due to his little suck-up performance. Like the hosts said, he just managed to squeak by this week.

But Simon was right, song selection is *key* to doing well on this show. Ryan is just not the 70s disco type of girl. She should have followed Nikki's lead and done some 70s rock...much more her strength. Ryan could have brought down the house if she had done something like "Because The Night (Belongs to Lovers)" (which most of you probably remember as a Natalie Merchant song, but is really a song written by Springsteen for Patti Smith! ;p)

And again, Justin picked the *wrong* song! He would have done much better with a different kind of ballad. I could totally see him doing something like "Your Song." He'd better shape up quickly!

As for RJ, fingernails on a blackboard. He just rubs me the wrong way.

Would it be silly to tell you that I was secretly hoping someone would dedicate a song to Simon and then belt out "You're So Vain"? :D

Simon was right though, she lacks a musical identity. When asked what kind of singer she is she named every genre of music in this modern era. In the end, they've got to pick one or two.

Justin: I think he learned a valuable lesson this week. Mouth off to Simon and we'll all think you've gotten a little big for your britches but at least we'll respect you. Turn tail the next week and be an aplogetic little kiss ass and you won't even have that going for you.

Tamyra: Yeah she's beautiful, yeah she's talented. You know what, I just don't CARE about her. She hasn't captured my heart and imagination the way some of the others have. IMHO she just doesn't have that elusive "IT" quality that makes a real star.

Kelly: I used to think she didn't have that special star quality either just because I didn't know who she was up til the final rounds. However, she's really growing on me and I like her more and more every episode. I think she's grown a lot over this whole experience and could very well walk away with it.

Christina: She's gorgeous, she's a great singer and Simon has a crush on her. I vote her "girl most likely to lose the competion and still get a recording contract anyway."

R.J.: The boy bands are dying out and they're taking your career with them. Sorry.

Nikki: Next to go. Not that she's not talented as all heck. She's got great identity and stage presence. She still doesn't have a snowball chance in hell at winning.

Oh my gosh, I haven't seen but one person say this, and it wasn't even fully positive:

With her singing once again one of my favorite songs (Ain't no Sunshine) I was floored. She looked SO good, better than ever, she was smoking in all aspects of performance. I now have a crush! LOL But what is it about her singing songs that were originally guy songs? the last 2 or 3 she's had to change she to he. Not that I mind, but I think it's interesting.

Justin is a TOOL, in my opinion. I haven't liked his last two songs, and he seems to have lost that fun quality that I originally liked in him (it's still there, from the picture shoot clip) Where is he picking these songs? I'm worried next week will be 80's week and he'll sing Whip it or something (most likely he'll sing something I've never heard of) AND I lost all respect with the kiss ass. I did not think it was sincere at all, and I wish Simon had called him on it.


And WHAT PLANET does Nikki come from? She's a rocker chick and she's never heard Heartbreaker by Pat Benetar?!!? WHATEVER! That must be why she tried to sing some parts EXACTLY with the same harsh voice as Pats (I should know--this is my Karaoke song)

And once again, I really liked Tamyra. I think she's going to win, just cause she HAS been so consistent.

Kelly is pulling in a strong performance. I like her alot too, but I don't think she's going to win, as of yet.

Hey did anyone recognize a performance order pattern? I haven't until this show, but I think they are performing in order, from lowest votes to highest. I'm not sure about highest, since they aren't revealing it, but the bottom ones are, or were this week at least.

And has anyone checked out the website? They have a play-by-play article that is HILARIOUS! I think the page is called show recaps?

Well, I think Kelly is the next best thing to Ryan in terms of contestants on the show.

I didn't watch last night (and waon't watch again), but I think Justin DOES have the look and the voice, I just know he's going to win simply for the look whcih isn't fair.

Spending a long time in music (albeit instrumental and choral in a classical setting but still SOME experience), I think Christina is completely tonedeaf and her vibrato is atrocious. I don't see how the judges think she can sing, but I can see where she has the appeal.

Tamyra was just wow. Damn what a voice, but I think we've seen too many pop stars like her.

Nikki is cool but I'm afraid she'll eventually go.

Why the hell is RJ stIll on the Show? Aaah! For A Guy who got lucky to be on the top 10 he pretty much did nothing to improve himself to contend with the big guys/girls on the show.

I thought EJ had the best voice out of the BOYS but of course America didn't see that and only saw the look.

Christina, who is hospitalized, was voted off. She found out the way that the rest of us did, by watching it on television. My heart goes out to her. I hope that she gets well soon.
