I could not resist starting this one up again :D I am proud to say that I'm an A K A! My lovely Sorors are SKEERIFIC! No other Sorority can imitate this! We help each other...... (lump in throat) We look pristine in our Pink and Green! I LOVE the Phirst Pham The men of A Phi A will be ice cold til their dying day. But, you ask any Alpha and he will say "I'll let my ice melt for an AKA" ! ;) A. K. A's. are pretty on their left! We're pretty on our right! We're so pretty we can't sleep at night :D:D:D I've been on a Pink and Green high since February 24, 2002. Skeeeeeeee Weeeeeeee My Sorors Skeeeeeeee Weeeeeee!!!!!!!! |

Why is it that our Ivy Leaf publication is always exceptional.
Why is it that our Undergradute Activites Committee did a wonderful job with the Ivy Vine newsletter in the Winter publication. Why is it that I'm about to send an email to our undergrads and remind them to read through those articles. They are a tremendous resource. |

After a LOOOOOONNNNNNGG hiatus, I have reactivated! So I ask you. . . Why is it that at Sorority meeting last month when singing the hymn, I nearly cried? Why is it that when I paid my dues, I got excited? Why is it that I'm gonna be sitting by the mail waiting for my card and Ivy Leaf to come? Why is it that I just ordered a chapter guard for my pin? Why is it that when I get to meet Former Supreme Basileus Soror Norma White at our chapter meeting next month, I'm going to be too giddy (but not to the point of being silly)? Why is it that I'm checking flights to Nashville for Boule? Why is it that when I see one of my favorite Sorors at the next meeting, who just happens to be a Golden Soror, I'm gonna give her a big, big hug? Why is it? Because I love Allllpha Kappa Allllpha Sorority, Innnncorporated - MY Sorority - and it truly is a SERIOUS MATTER!!! |

Why is it I have learned to also love those hateful looks I sometimes get when someone sees my license plate frame? You know a wise woman once told me, "You only hate what you love,..." Why is it that I will never get over the euphoric feeling when I became a woman of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated? Why is it no two colors are quite as intriguing as Pink and Green? HC I am just welling up by reading the posts in this thread.... Yes, we say things about being duplicated, and how every woman was not meant to be AKA and so on, but I don't think words can convey HOW serious our sisterhood is! From the looks of adoration and envy I get when you see my license plates, to the special treatment I receive when people see my lavalier...AKA is a very good place to be!:D :D I too am a AKAholic, can't get enough of my pretty pink and gorgeous green.... HC the people in all of the para shops of my hometown know me by name AND on the phone :D :D It's that deep sorors! I work hard and play hard for AKA, until the day I die! ...to capture a vision fair... I love you guys! All 180,000 of you! SSSSKKKKKEEEEE-WWWWWEEEEEEEE!!!!!! Put the world on notice! :D |

Today was the first day that I encountered the sisterly bond that is so prominent in Alpha Kappa Alpha. I go friend of mine works with a girl who is a soror. We had never met until today. Three weeks ago she bought me a sash for graduation on May 1. I couldnt wear it at commencement but I did put it on afterwards. Today she and I met. She is so sweet. She gave me a hug and said "Call me if you need anything. I dont care what is. I could be just to talk or you need toilet paper. You call me first." Then she said she had a gift for me. She is giving me a piece of Ivy that has been in her family for over 70 years. I almost started crying because that was so sweet. This goes to show that the bond of Alpha Kappa Alpha women is eternal and unbreakable. Just wanted to share my thought. If anyone else has encountered such, please share your story..... |
