I also think that these two KD twins, The McDonald twins won some titles in Missouri I believe. I remember that from when they went through rush at Ole Miss. They are so beautiful.

That's what Parade of Beauties is all about. A Phi Mu won this year. And last year we had 5 girls in the top 10...and AOPi won last year.
Another Phi Mu Ashley hatfeild was Miss Southern Illinois and she was in the top 10 in the Miss Illinois pageant. I thought that was cool.

Miss Mississippi last year was also a Phi Mu.

We were watching the Tournament of Roses parade on TV today and I was wondering how the Rose Bowl Queen and her royal court are picked, and if any of them are Greek. (I am sure some of them are.) Anyone know? :)

Miss America 2005, Deidre Downs, is an Alpha Chi Omega from the University of Virgina.

I think she was a Greek, but I don't know which group.

I thought Sandra Bullock went to ECU? I also thought she never went Greek.

ETA: I was right! According to E! Online, she graduated from ECU in 1986 w/ a major in theatre. :)

Answering my own question. Doing a bit of googling I found out that it's an interview process and based on GPA and activities etc. And all the girls are in high school so none of them are Greek just yet. :)

I wondered about this too. From what I found out, apparently the queen is usually a high school senior! I assume the princesses are as well. Perhaps someone from the Pasadena area can tell us more?

Well I'm not from Pasadena , but I have spend the last 26 years of my 28 watching the Rose parade on new years day and I live not too far from Pasadena. Basically over 1000 women apply to be on the court or be Rose Queen. You must be a resident of the Pasadena area(surrounding cities are ok as La Canada(where the current queen is from) is just near by Pasadena, and according to the Tournament of Roses website :
"Each year’s queen is selected based on a combination of qualities such as poise, public speaking ability, academic achievement and involvement in the community. Moreno was chosen thanks to her active membership in her church, in theater, and in her school’s varsity soccer and track-and-field teams."

This thread reminded me: when I was a collegian, the reigning Rose Queen joined our chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta.

Neva Jane was from Lakeland, Fla. She was an ADPi from Florida Southern College. Neva transferred from FSC to Wesleyan College (Macon, Ga). Wesleyan is where the first 2 sororities began (ADPi 1851 and Phi Mu 1852) but in 1914 the trustees removed sororities from the college. Neva was a 1955 graduate of Wesleyan and truly a lovely lady. She was a childhood friend and a Wesleyan classmate of my mom's. Sadly she died in 2012.

Judy Adams, Miss Oklahoma of 1970, was a Nu chapter (Oklahoma State) Kappa Delta and her crowned portrait was still in the house when I rushed a couple of years later. She was a top 10 finalist and talent winner who was an incredible cellist.

Ali Rogers was Miss USA runner-up last year and is currently a senior in my chapter, Zeta Nu:) She spoke about her sisters at preference night and was really moving.
