Okay.. that is the third time I have read Boy Pi Phi... What in the world does it mean... We have a chapter of Pi Kappa Phi at my school and I have never heard them called that!!!!

I was a little lost the first time, because someone said Pi Kappa Phi - Pi Phi for Boys (they pull NO girls here) in Los Angeles, but I know are chapters at USC and UCLA are strong... then you typed it and I know that our OU chapter is strong... so I figured I misunderstood Sentience!!!!

This thread is really only bad if people are immature about it.

Actually, I have heard some of the older people at my school (as in 50-60 year old) refer to them in this way sometimes...but I have never heard it from any younger greeks.

I've never heard that one but its pretty funny...if you're taking the Tri-Delt chapter at Iu into consderation because they're pretty hot girls (I will really miss that Weenie Roast :( )

Little E 12-16-2003 11:32 PM

Epsilon Chi

some of these are mean, but i like the ones with local character. ie. Sigma Chi here for some reason did not know how to make a S in micro Word. So their party posters all read

EX party
at
Sig Chi house
Friday...etc...

so when we are talking sometimes we slip up and call them Epsilon Chi. But that isn't mean, only the greeks get it and no one sounds like a ho. :)

(yes there are names for all the groups here, but why give them away...???)

Ditto! :)

Personally, I prefer Diamonds, Pearls, and Emeralds for DPhiE. :)

kddani 12-17-2003 12:27 AM

I hate this thread, too, b/c it always ends badly.

But an interesting thing that i've noticed about my campus is that we don't call Pi Kappa Alpha "Pikes", we call them "Pika"- they refer to themselves that way too.

I think this is becaus we also have Pi Kappa Phi and Phi Kappa Theta and Phi Sigma Kappa and they'd all get confused.

RhoSigma2003 12-17-2003 12:37 AM

Kappa Sigma has AEKDB on their crest and they say it stands for "Almost Every Kappa Delta Blows"

Kappa Delta has AOT- Always on Top

Kappa Sigma- Kappa Twigs or Kappa Swigs

Everything else on campus that are nicknames other people have said.. No need to repeat..

:D

More of a play on words reflecting the similarity of Greek letters, even though Pi Phi (the women's fraternity) is Pi BETA Phi and the similarly named but exclusively men's fraternity is Pi KAPPA Phi. (Emphasis mine.) Mostly used affectionately, especially when Pi Phi and Pi Kapp are on the same campus.

Back in my days as an undergrad my fraternity chapter was small, remotely located and universally derided as the 'apartment dwellers' (because our house was designed to be easily rented out as an apartment house should our chapter fold) by the rest of the OU Greek community. But then I spent my pledge semester drinking kegs of beer and choking through clouds of pot smoke, no wonder some thought our letters stood for 'Always Smoking Pot.'

xoheatherxo 12-17-2003 02:05 AM

i personally think that this thread is funny!! i personally know that our nickname is the same on almost every campus that has our chapter, and that most people who go to those schools can sing at least one song made up about us. i heard 2 songs last spring from an sae at my school and i thought they were the funniest things!! i guess i dont take things like that seriously, especially since its not like every group doesnt have some sort of nickname that isnt so nice. people need to lighten up about this thread! and if anyone knows any other nicknames for chi omega let me know!!! im just curious!

fingerbang 12-17-2003 04:24 AM

Sigma Alpha Epsilon

Same a$$holes everywhere

Sigma Alpha Everyone

fingerbang 12-17-2003 04:25 AM

oh yea but.....

D*ck Garage for DG is pretty funny

tunatartare 12-17-2003 05:04 AM

At my school we have:
AST: you can't spell wasted without AST; you can't spell nasty without AST
KKG: Daddy Daddy Buy Me, Visa Visa Mastercard
KLY: Kappa Lambda Psychos
SSS: Tri Pigma, Tri Sigma everyone else has

for the fraternities the only one I know is
ZY: Zeta High (really quite true lol)

I agree with all the people who say that the jokes aren't anything serious. We all know them and we think it's funny. We refer to ourselves as Kappa Lambda Psychos.

KDbutterfly 12-17-2003 08:15 AM

I was definitely a part of the Keg Drainer house. Though, we never minded the nickname. We could party with the best of them, which I think is nothing to be ashamed of. Other nicknames for other sororities and fraternities at our school were also ones that have already been mentioned on the board. It's funny to see how the nicknames are the same all around the U.S.

EM1843 12-17-2003 10:34 AM

How about good ole Krispy Kreme Girls for KKG or is that a southern thing cause we have Krispy Kremes

squirrely girl 12-17-2003 12:04 PM

some of these are CRUEL!!!!!! but, in defense of the posters, i've only learned a couple of new ones from this thread. most of them, i've already heard (more than once for that matter)

- thought i'd share this one though

i've heard of sororities being called chi chi lambda as in XXL before...

marissa

BaylorBean 12-17-2003 12:10 PM

Most of these aren't new to me either. The only one I hadn't heard before was the one for Pi Kappa Phi, Pi Phi for boys. I'll have to tell my boyfriend about that one, he'll get a good laugh (he's a Pi Kapp).
The Sigma Kappa ones are kind of funny. I like Snakey K's. Also I have to admit that there were times when me and few of my sisters wrote our Dues checks out to Sigma Krappa for the fun of it. ;)

ISUKappa 12-17-2003 12:43 PM

I won't mention any of the less-than-tasteful ones I've heard (mostly because they're already on here) but my Dad's favorite one for Kappas was Kiss Kick and Giggle Because we kiss the boys, we kick them away and then we giggle about it. I'm pretty sure he made that one up himself. My dad, the comedic genius! :)

breathesgelatin 12-17-2003 12:49 PM

We do the girl-Pi Phi/guy Pi-Phi thing. It gets confusing.

I think it might be a regional thing for the Pikes. One of the brothers told me that some chapters above the Mason Dixon line call themselves Pikas instead of Pikes.

At my undergraduate school, we had Pi Kappa Phi and Pi Kappa Alpha. The Pi Kappa Phi's were known as the Pi Kapps, and the Pi Kappa Alpha's were known as the Pikes.

We have guy-Pi Phi and most people here still call it Pika, and we're Southern. Go figure! :)
