Agreed Irishpipes. OCU trained singers are typically great.
Like Kristin Chenoweth and Kelli O'Hara both Tony winners.
Miss Texas also cannot sing well. I hate when people sing as their talent when they cannot sing.
Miss Louisiana was good. Miss Oklahoma definitely could have used time to warm up.
I can't decide what I think of Miss Texas. I liked the beginning of the song, but then it got bad. |

I think Susan Powell Miss America 1981 who sang opera for talent was also OCU grad.
I want a baton twirler. Preferably with fire batons!
I agree Clemsongirl, and they only know 1 song that they practice day and night.

Fire batons would be so awesome. Especially with all that hairspray.
Miss Oklahoma would not have improved with a warmup. Pitch that bad cannot be corrected. (I am a professional and teach voice.) The very loud backing vocals were an obvious attempt to aid her search for pitch and to distract from her voice. Lovely girl, just not a singer. |

Not fond of SC's singing either... And I really do love batons!
Clemsongirl!!, thank you!!!
I am worried about Miss Mississippi's right boob. Wardrobe malfunction in 3,2,1...
Not a fan of Miss Mississippi's violin piece. Lots of high notes on the violin don't translate well to microphones and being on air. Also sounded like she was off with the accompaniment at times.
Thank goodness Miss GA can sing.
Miss Georgia. Wow.
The violin wasn't tuned properly, a function of having to jump right up and play. All of the notes were just under the note.
Yea. hello Miss Georgia! She won the prelim talent a couple of days ago.
Miss Georgia is a MusEd major at Mercer.
Miss Georgia was very good.
Seemed to me that those whose voices aren't all that compensated with expressive faces.
Miss GA has some voice!!! I'm wondering if she plans on singing opera professionally. |
I was about to cry if Miss Georgia didn't get to sing. She really slayed, even with the change that she needed to make to the aria to make it fit the time limit.

My winner is Miss Colorado...
Loved CO's answer. It was genuine and fun.
I think that GA threw it away with her answer. SC was okay. Everyone else did a fine job. |
Loved Colorado's answer, Daja's was eh, loved Tennessee, felt terrible for whoever got the Tom Brady question because that was terrible and she clearly didn't have an answer, Alabama had a great answer and a teaser for the news cut in to the feed on the last question so I don't even know what she said!
The Tom Brady question was stupid. LOLOL at Ellen Degeneres!
Miss Georgia is from my hometown, Warner Robins. Her mom was my phyical therapist several years ago. Warner Robins would love to have another national winner. Miss America's Outstanding Teen (outgoing) is from here.
I have to say I love Danica McKellar.
Here we go!
Wait, so now there are going to be three left after first runner-up is named? Again, that seems cruel to the other two.
It's like giving bids out in a public space. I don't like how their emotions are on full display on national TV. That has to be hard.
GEORGIA!!!!
She was so amazing and absolutely deserved it!
So Georgia gets extra time by saying she didn't hear the question, gets the easiest/dumbest question, and wins?

Yippee!!! My hometown girl won!
I agree with you Irishpipes...don't get it!
I think they are looking for poise and confidence in answering the questions rather than the answer itself.
Pretty controversial questions this year! |
