Just thought I'd let you all know, you have another convert....I just ordered the Mignon Faget Tulip pendant and a 20" snake chain to wear it on!!!!!!!!!!!! And if I can talk him into it, my hubby is going to buy me the MF Opus gold/smoky topaz ring!!!!!
|
James Avery
Any James Avery fans out there? For xmas my best friend bought me the angel ring. It is so pretty! It's a new part of my "jewlery I am never without."
|
Re: Any James Avery
Yes Lauradav! Almost every piece of jewelry I own is James Avery. My husband got me the most beautiful wedding ring and strand of pearls from JA. I love it!

I am currently banned from my Mignon Faget catalogs since I went a tad overboard this summer but I promise you, Erika, you will be so happy with what you ordered. I haven't taken off my tulip in months! It just feels good on! Now I am hearing all about James Avery. Dare I type his name in the search engine and see what happens? I may be wrecking havoc on the family budget but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do so here we go...... :) |
i have a JA ring..its silver w/daisys and hearts on it that i got from a former friend of mine..i love it and i never take it off except when i put on lotion or something..
and Tracy..you are somewhat salvaged b/c i don't think that JA has a website :) |
I am very interested in getting the "return to tiffany" bracelet and necklace set OR the heart tag bracelet with the toggle heart necklace.
Is there much of a difference in the two besides one has a round charm and the other a heart?? |
Bucutie....I have the "Return To Tiffany" set with the round tag. I wear the bracelet all the time and I love it, but unfortunately the choker is only 15 inches!!!!! It is literally a CHOKER, at least on me. It doesn't look good with anything but I want to wear it, so I am going to take it to my jeweler and have him make some extra links to put in it and lengthen it by about an inch. I personally don't care for the heart stuff, first because I am just not big on hearts and second because everyone and their brother is wearing it now......but I do know that the heart toggle choker is longer than the "Return" choker.
I am soooooo pissed at myself. I ordered my MF tulip online Wednesday night, and though I ordered next day air the confirmation said 5-7 days. Well this morning at about 10:15 I was being a big lazy ass and lying in bed without a stitch on. I hear a knock at the door and naturally I hide out, pretending I'm not there......it was UPS!!!!! With my necklace!!!!! And they didn't leave it because it requires a signature!!!!! And since UPS totally sucks and does not deliver on weekends, now I have to wait until Monday. I am such a loser. |
thanks for clarifying that Erika! I actually did know the toggle heart necklace is longer than the "return" one, but i didnt know that it is an actual choker. I dont really like any chokers so maybe ill go and get the heart set. I love everything and anything that has to do with hearts so it sounds like a better set for me. thanks again

I'm thinking of getting the Round Tag bracelet for my birthday - the heart one is SO overdone that I want something a little different. No one has the knockoff of the round tags (yet).
I alternate between my MF tulip and my Elsa Peretti open heart. I got the Red Bean and Rice bracelet for Christmas but its way too big so I need to send it off to be taken in. Is the Tiffany bracelet sizable? Is it possible to clasp it on different links to size it? I have really tiny wrists, and 7inches is about 2 inches too big to fit comfortably. |
OK, WHERE can I find James Avery stuff????
|
If wearing silver, I'm never without my Delta Sigma Theta silver bracelet w/ elephants on it and my silver elephant ring
If wearing gold, I'm never without one Delta Sigma Theta gold ring and/or lavalier and a gold herringbone bracelet my Mom gave me. |
I never take off my lavalier except when I have swim class or when I'm wearing gold jewelry. I'm getting a gold lavalier for Easter so that when I get my gold badge in they'll match (my Big Sister's badge is the one I wear now, and it's silver). I'm also getting a gold chapter guard. Before I had gone Greek, I always wore a necklace w/the water symbol on it for Aquarius. One of my fave necklaces that I rarely wear because it doesn't match a whole lot is one my mom handed down to me. It's a really unique piece; a large, irridescent blue-green butterfly on a silver chain. Everyone comments me on it when they see it. I think my mom got it in 70s.
I have to reitirate what KilarneyRose said about GC getting me hooked on wanting trendy jewelry that I can't quite afford at the moment. I'm already a shopaholic, but the internet has made my spending habit even worse! :D |
I already posted about my jewelry earlier...Anyway, I mentioned James Avery in my post and I am glad to see that other people are as hooked as I am. It is extremely popular down here!
Anyway, they do not have a website. The phone number is 1-800-283-1770. You can call that number to request a catalog...they have the standard catalog and they also have one exclusively for charms, religious jewelry, etc. You have to call M-F 8am-5pm CST or Sat. 9-5. |
James Avery-you were nothing in HS if you didn't have James Avery jewlery, I LOVE his stuff and was actually just in the store the other day buying some jewlery for a birthday gift. I saw a ring that I want for my 30th birthday that is 2 weeks away-beautiful amythest (and I hate the color purple) set in silver with gold flowers on each side-I know it doesn't sound nice but it was.
I also have a J.A. charm bracelet, sadly they will not make specific sorority jewelry but there are many different owls/keys/turtles/ladybugs etc... to choose from. Has anyone heard of Jeep Collins? I think he actually started out working for James Avery then branched off-they have very nice jewelry also. Both James Avery and Jeep Collins are rt. down the street-ohh temptation Quote:

I have this ring too, but only fits the ring finger (got it fromn an ex-boyfriend) so I don't wear it much

Juniorgrrrl.....the links on the "Return" bracelet are pretty big so you probably could clasp it wherever you wanted. I have small wrists too but I have a hard time getting the damn thing on myself, even on the last link. It must be the design. It kind of hangs, but it looks like it's supposed to.
If you like to actually go to a store, I have found that the Galleries of Neiman Marcus has the most gorgeous jewelry I have ever seen......AmyCat, they have Technomarines that I didn't even know existed!!!! They had rocks there that were big even by MY standards!!!!! Nordstrom sells really cute sterling and plated jewelry if you just want some fun, inexpensive pieces. I bought a big chunky silver ring the other day with this huge-ass lemon topaz (looks just like a canary diamond) cushion-cut bezel set in it.....just gorgeous. They have a new line and I can't remember the designer's name but it is really cool silver stuff with various gems....it is chunky stuff on the order of Tiffany's and they also have the Tiffany knockoffs (including the round tag set.) I am going to get the necklace and bracelet with smoky topaz stones on them. LASTLY......I will see if she has a website....I may be able to turn some of you on to yet another designer.....up in Northern Michigan where we summer, there is a designer named Becky Thatcher who has these little galleries....SUCH unique stuff. Really gorgeous. Expensive but worth it. Let me see if I can find a link. |

KillarneyRose and ErikaXO's checkbooks (and hubby's) are probably glad that James Avery doesnt have a website!;) (im just kidding!) |
Have those of you that are mommies seen any Aaron Basha stuff? They make these fabulous jeweled baby shoes. All colors and styles to represent your children.
I believe the site is www.aaronbasha.com Look at your own risk! :D |
my mom has those baby shoes in each of our (mine, and my two sisters) birthstones on a charm bracelet - very cute :)
|
Ok all you shopaholics (Tracy that means you!!!!) Heeeeeer's Becky!!!!!! http://www.beckythatcherdesigns.com/
By the way, I got my MF necklace today and I LOVE it......thanks for turning me on.....I'd like to see some Becky converts out there but as a lot of the pieces are too expensive even for me I don't know how well this is going to float with the collegiate set..... |
OK OK I'll join it-
www.ice.com -- PAYMENT PLANS www.jewelrynetwork.com -- DECENT prices, some cute stuff! |
I always have in little silver studs in my ears and always put on my TKE and Tri Sigma lavalier.
|
Jewelry...my favorite topic.....
I always wear my grandmother's platinum engagement ring on the third finger of my left hand. When I graduated from high school, my grandmother had the diamond removed and a ruby (my birthstone) set in the ring. I also always wear a diamond tennis bracelet on my right wrist. I have about a million pieces of jewelry, from bracelets to necklaces to rings. As far as bracelets go, I usually either wear a ruby-and-diamond tennis bracelet or my Return to Tiffany. Neckleaces vary from day to day as well, but favorites include my silver Tiffany lavaliere from the 1837 collection and my gold "Allison" necklace. The watch (a two-tone Citizen) is very important too! I just adore jewelry and am tempted to start ordering from the Mignon Faget catalog too...... |
I'm never without my high school class ring lol. Yes eventhough I'm in college now, my HS ring still reminds me of all my past memories, and its not one of those big ones where you can put a sport on it or whatever, mine is small, petite and has flowers on the side with my graduating year next to them and then diamonds around the stone near the high school. its perdy!
Also I'm never without my ADPi necklace. My diamond sis gave it to me and I'm never without it! Then there would have to be the ring my grandma gave me before she passed on. Its perdy too. |
I never never take off my promise ring (an oval tanzanite set in white gold with three round diamonds on each side)-even when I wear my badge. (All Sigmas have identical gold badges). Since I got it in January, I have only taken my crested ring off to shower/lotion. (I'm very proud of it-International presents them to collegians who have earned two consecutive 4.0s :D )
I usually wear my sterling lavalier (again, unless I have my badge on). On most days, I wear white gold hoops, but pearl studs if it's a badge day. The sterling ID bracelet Brent got me for my 21st is a standard, as well as my steel watch. (sorry this is so disorganized...I'm stressed and sleepy) |
Silver & Gold...
I know have letters (lavaliers) in both...I got tired of wearing just gold all the time!
oooh, and between y'all and my new roomate, I have become sold on Mignon Faget. I think I *love* the tulip necklace! |
Since it's new...my Engagement Ring~
But, I always wear these tiny silver ball earrings, cheap, but don't hurt my ears. |
besides a pair of earrings, the only other jewelry i wear is a thin gold rope w/a cross on it.
|
i always wear...
silver ball earrings, my watch, both my tiffanys bracelets, & my tiffanys heart necklace... i am hoping for a new watch and the return to tiffanys necklace for my birthday on the 11th!!! :) |
I always wear my ZTA drop and watch.
|
So Excited!
Going to pick up my MF Red Bean and Rice bracelet today - got it for Christmas but it was WAY too big (it'd fall off my wrist) so I couldn't wear it. Dropped it off in Feb to be resized and its finally ready!
Now, I'll have to move it into regular rotation with my Tiffany's round tag bracelet. I'm so used to wearing that one every day, it'l be weird to have something small on my wrist. Now I just need the red bean and rice necklace to match ;) Then that can go in rotation with my MF tulip, fleur de lis, and my Elsa Peretti open heart. |
Ever since I got my lavalier I always wear it. Plus I must have two rings on, one on the right and one on the left. I feel weird without them on. And I always wear the bracelet my big gave me. -UDZETA ;)
|
Something else I never take off
I got a David Yurman gold and silver bracelet with diamonds last Christmas in Grand Cayman. I never take it off.
|
I always wear my DZ lavalier, silver hoop earrings, my belly ring, and my silver Tiffany's heart bracelet that I got for Christmas. That is my absolute fav thing!:) I'm thinking about getting the necklace this summer.
DZ love and mine! Jessica Delta Zeta OSU |
Ok, my husband laughed at me, the people at work laughed at me, my friends laughed at me and my own sister thinks I should be committed to the looney bin.
Now, I will post my most recent purchase on GreekChat so that you all can laugh at me, too: http://www.neimanmarcus.com/products/mh/NMY8136_mh.jpg I think it's cute. So there. :) |
<nelson>Haaa haaa!</nelson>
Just kidding. It's cute. :) |

I always wear my pearl studs, my Coach watch, and my Meningitis Foundation of America wristband. |
Pearls and my Rolex. I switch out my pearl strands depending on what the neckline of my shirt looks like, but the Rolex (which was a present from my parents for surviving the first year of med school) is always on my wrist!
|
my 18k white gold class ring from undergrad with 4 1k diamonds, and two pieces of jewelry from my mom: 18k white gold chain with a heart pendant and 18k yellow gold ring with 3 1k diamonds set in white gold down the middle
I like white gold :) |
My wedding band & engagement ring. I always wear these...well...almost always. I take them off when cleaning the house or doing yard work b/c I don't want to damage the platinum or knock off my solitaire by accident since I'm such a klutz.
