In a weird way, I think it's kind of endearing how the Duchess continues to be pregnant past her due date (although that my change by the time I finish typing this). Every mom, whether rich, poor, royal or commoner, who saw her due date come and go with the baby staying put knows how the poor thing must feel!

I read once that Princesses Beatrice, Eugenie, and Louise were all denied the use of the name Elizabeth, as that would be reserved for a daughter in direct line to the throne. So, maybe Princess Elizabeth Diana Victoria?
And I, too, like the use of Andrew, especially since that's where they met! I'm so excited! As an aside, when I know a woman is pregnant, I pray for her & the baby until the baby's born. I've been praying for this baby a LOT! That doesn't mean that I wouldn't pray for any of y'all who are (or become) pregnant - it's my honor to do so! |
DH & I were just discussing a royal daughter, and we think that the best would be Princess Diana Olivia Victoria Elizabeth. England could use a DOVE!
Who am I kidding, as long as the baby's healthy, they can name it Prince Felix! |
If it's a boy, my money is on George, Charles, Edward and/or Philip being in there. Maybe Albert. For girls, I'd bet on Elizabeth, Alexandra, Mary or perhaps Victoria. According to the bookies, Charlotte is also good bet.
I go back and forth over whether they'd use Diana, but they well may. It's worth remembering, though, that the name the child goes by isn't necessarily the name the child would use as king or queen. Any of the given names can be used as the regnal name. |

I'm interested to see the royal baby's name because there's a very good chance she'll have the exact same name as my daughter (or son)

I really should have followed it up with a "Bless their hearts!"

Unless, of course, it's reminiscent of the Dick Van Dyke show with ROSEBUD. (Farrah Elizabeth Lola Isabella Xaviera???) |

I will say that it did bring up a supportive discussion of Sweden's law that requires newborns' names be submitted and approved. And this brings us back to the original thread, because this law was enacted primarily to prevent non-noble families from using noble family names.... So, when's that royal baby getting here?! |

Every time y'all bump this thread, I think the baby has arrived.
|
Well, the baby hasn't arrived yet but for those who can't get enough...The Telegraph is providing live video of the door to the hospital.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/ukne...-watch.html?fb I've been checking in from time to time and it's still just a door. |
They should go really old school English and name her Philippa after great-grandpa. :p

I feel bad for Kate and William. The press need to leave them alone and let them welcome their child into the world at peace.
I kind of hope that they have snuck off and will have the baby somewhere else and the press will just be sitting on their butts. |
At least they don't have the press in the delivery room any more. James II's wife, Mary of Moderna, gave birth with almost 200 people watching - and even then everyone claimed the baby was an imposter.

Excited for Baby Cambridge!!! |
Well, The Duchess of Cambridge is now in labor!
May she have a safe delivery and may the child she's carrying be healthy and well. :-) |

It is the great equalizer, right? I'm kind of surprised they (really, any woman) does it naturally as opposed to C-section. I know there's all kinds of pros and cons, but the convenience of the Duchess would seem to be a significant pro.
|
Well, she's at least lucky enough to be a modern-era royal baby-bearer... I read an article about Renaissance era royals being confined to a dark room with no light except a roaring fire in the braizer (even if it was July) and about 70 witnesses to make sure that there was no baby-swapping. Of course, several hundred years before that, the royal consummation also required witnesses...
|
We stood in the little room in Edinburgh Castle where Mary, Queen of Scots gave birth to James VI, after a really, really prolonged labor...something like 2 weeks! How is that even possible? At least there was a window.

It's a boy! Congratulations to the Duchess of Cambridge on a healthy pregnancy and delivery!
|
It's a Prince!!
I'm so happy that everyone's healthy!!
|
I guess the rush to change the policy on inheritance was for naught, but congrats to them! That's going to be one beautiful baby. Good thing the hair comes from the mother. :)
|
Yay!! Although, I was hoping for a girl....

So now we wait who-knows-how-much-longer to fill in the blank: "His Royal Highness Prince _____ of Cambridge."
|
I know that HRH is probably getting ready for bed, but I'm sure her face looks something like this:

She already has some via Anne's son.
|
I was hoping for a boy so I was very pleased to hear that a prince was born...... but I would have been just as happy hearing that the baby was a girl. Either way, the new prince is healthy, The Duke and Duchess are happy and everyone else is pretty happy too.
|
How Exciting, my adopted home has a new Prince. A future king for England!
Front runner for boys names is currently George, so happy that everyone is happy & healthy!! |
I wonder if Spencer will be a part of the name, in honor of Diana.

Sciencewoman- I too was hoping that the baby would be a little princess. |
I was kind of hoping for a girl if only to force all the Commonwealth countries to work speedily to pass non-primogeniture laws. Now they can take their time and piss fart about.
|
Hey MC, would HRH also bear the title of Earl of Strathearn or does his royal title supersede that?
