I agree with my sister. Boots over jeans have always been the norm in some way in areas where it's cold 5-7 months out of the year. We've had accumulated snows over a foot as early as October and as late as May, so, yeah, boots - of all different styles - are part of most women's wardrobes - from toddlers to senior citizens.

Styles of boots may change, but the act of wearing them? Never. And given that most boots are brown or black, usually made of leather/suede/animal skin of some sort. Lastly, anything more than a few inches of snow can ruin your hems with salt and sand, and making them soggy.

So I can't see any combination of color/fabric/length ever going completely away. Honestly, being safe on my feet, having breathable but warm fabric, and keeping my clothes from being ruined is much more important than if something is trended out half a season ago.

Hi guys!!

30 or so minutes until I meet with my Rho Gamma!! I didn't get a call last night so, PHEW.

I'm so nervous but I did my hair, brushed my teeth, and I'm trying to swallow down some breakfast. Today's going to be a long day! 9am to 9:50pm (if you have all 8 houses). But even if you don't, it'll be equally exhausting.

Okay, as you can tell I'm super nervous. Thanks for all the good wishes...they've been working so far!

Hoosiermama 01-05-2013 10:10 AM

Best wishes BEG! This is bringing back memories of my daughter's recruitment. High highs, lows lows but eyes on the prize and an open mind and it can all work out in the end! Really enjoying your story and the memories! Open mind is the key-keep it coming!

AOII Angel 01-05-2013 10:11 AM

Have fun, brighteyedgirl!

AZTheta 01-05-2013 12:37 PM

Typically I stay out of these threads until the end. Not this time. I send you all the positive energy I can muster, brighteyedgirl, and I'm holding my breath until you're finished. It only takes ONE bid. Best of luck!

That's the point. Many of the boots we are talking about keep you anything but warm or "safe on your feet."

^^^Oh my!! those make my feet hurt just looking at them.

southbymidwest 01-05-2013 12:52 PM

They are talking more like riding boots-flat boots like this, probably:

Sorry, not clever enough to be able to post the picture.

33girl 01-05-2013 12:57 PM

I've seen all heel heights here - from the scary stilettos I posted to the flat ones. Boots aren't a fashion trend. Skinny jeans tucked into brown boots is.

ElvisLover 01-05-2013 01:38 PM

Good Luck to you and hoping your dreams come true with recruitment!

BadSquirrelBeta 01-05-2013 03:53 PM

I checked in...glad to see you are moving ahead. Would love if you have time to share some more impressions, etc. But, then again, I am sure you are beyond tired after keeping up with that kind of schedule!!

brighteyedgirl 01-05-2013 06:31 PM

Thanks for all the well wishes!!

Rush ends Monday night (officially) so ill be posting soon. Ill do it all at once because i type up everything at the end of the day - good way to keep me from stressing. Thanks for all the patience, support, and kind words. Y'all are keeping me sane more than you know!

I think I speak for everyone here that we are so excited to hear it, but I hope you are having a blast, and enjoy pref night tomorrow. It is something special that I hope you remember the rest of your life.

TriDeltaSallie 01-05-2013 06:55 PM

Hoping for a very happy ending to your story. Enjoy your pref night! :)

Good luck! I can't wait to hear how everything goes :)

IndianaSigKap 01-05-2013 09:06 PM

I noticed that you changed the theme to the Hills! One of my favorite shows, been watching the DVDs over winter break. I cannot advocate joining Heidi or Spencer, however! :-)

brighteyedgirl 01-06-2013 12:10 AM

OBSESSSSSED with the hills. If i could live LCs life, I would.

brighteyedgirl 01-06-2013 12:11 AM

GUYS I JUST RANKED FOR THREE PARTY!! And we don't meet till later tomorrow so more time to stress. -__-

brighteyedgirl 01-06-2013 12:13 AM

Indiana Sig Kap, you're tip from earlier WAS GREAT. it helped me so much so thanks so much for that!!

IndianaSigKap 01-06-2013 12:38 AM

Am I missing something? ETA: theme? Didn't see that the OP had one going anywhere in this thread.

Check out the very first post. She changed the theme to the Hills.

AZTheta 01-06-2013 01:12 AM

Duh. (is there a dumb look smiley? insert here). Thanks, ISK!

brighteyedgirl 01-06-2013 01:13 AM

AzTheta,

I changed my theme from Gilmore Girls to the hills but because my recruitment is currently going on, I'm going to wait until after its over to just post one big post. I don't want to risk giving any opinions away online that could negatively come back to me.

I'll be posting soon though!!

Hoosiermama 01-06-2013 10:48 AM

Excited to hear the story! Wishing you a great day!

brighteyedgirl 01-06-2013 10:55 AM

I am so incredibly nervous. We find out our lists at around 10:30 to 11:30 and everyone's been saying that this round is when the cuts get bad. I had a GREAT day yesterday, but then again, I'm sure many other girls did too.

This whole process has got my panties (and my stomach) in a huge bunch.

brighteyedgirl 01-06-2013 10:56 AM

And the worst is, I have classes to prepare for tomorrow and (if) I get parties today, tomorrow's wait will be even longer because I have to wait until 5 or 6 pm!

ZTAme 01-06-2013 11:20 AM

You have had such a great attitude open mind! I am praying for you to have peace, that everything will turn out like it is supposed to, and in the end you will be where you were meant to be!! Try to relax and have a good day!

Thanks, I should have been more thorough and not skimmed, and you're sweet to take time to respond.

Although it's hard to do, please try not to be nervous or scared. Please think positively and enjoy every minute of the day. Whatever happens, we're all here cheering you on - your attitude's been incredible. Wishing you all the best!

FSUZeta 01-06-2013 11:48 AM

Good luck BEG!!!

brighteyedgirl 01-06-2013 12:42 PM

Hey guys!
Got my list and I got 3 houses back. Two from the bottom and one from my top 3. I'm a little heartbroken that I didn't get this one house I really clicked with but it's whatever.

I'm happy I got 3 but tonight/ all day tomorrow will be terrifying.

Sorry you lost a favorite, but woo hoo for a full schedule!!! Keep an open mind, pref can really be a game changer!

Three parties is great! Relax and enjoy the afternoon!

greekdee 01-06-2013 02:57 PM

Yay for a full schedule! As lovespink88 said, pref can be a game changer. Many hearts and minds are changed at pref, and a chapter you weren't quite sure about can become the one you know is meant for you. Hang on -- you are in the home stretch now! Enjoy your parties!

kateee 01-06-2013 04:23 PM

Congratulations on a full schedule!! I agree, sometimes Pref can change your mind about a chapter if you go in with an open mind and heart. You have the right attitude! I cannot wait to hear where you end up!! :D

It's the normal break for most schools around here. But it's not that short -- the schools starting tomorrow have been out since the second week of December.

Good luck, BEG!

AGDee 01-06-2013 09:24 PM

Most of the schools around here are starting back tomorrow. They finished up the week before Christmas. Hypo has a longer break than most of her friends, but they also finish at the end of April and she goes a couple weeks into May.

kateee 01-06-2013 09:42 PM

I go back Tuesday and classes resume Wednesday. But everyone tells me my break was short (I came home December 16th.)
