I am a member of Kappa Delta Phi National Affiliated Sorority's board of Directors not the Fraternity's Board of Directors so I am not sure of the actual date of membership. However, I do know that the Fraternity has been attending NIC meetings since at least the early 90's.

I believe my sorority meets the description of up-and-coming National.

Sigma Alpha Epsilon Pi was founded on Oct 1st, 1998 at UC Davis. We are a Jewish Interest sorority, though we welcome sisters of all faiths (www.sigmaaepi.com).

Charter Chapter - UC Davis
Alpha Chapter - Arizona State (closed)
Beta Chapter - University of Minnesota
Gamma Chatper - UC Riverside (closed)
Delta Chapter - UC Santa Cruz
Epsilon Chapter - University of Oregon (closed)
Zeta Chapter - Virginia Tech
Eta Chapter - UC Los Angeles
Theta Colony - Eastern Michigan
Iota Colony - University of Maryland, BC

As you can see, it's been a bumby road, but we're finally on our way! By the end of the 08-09 school year, we'll hopefully have 2 more colonies to add to that list!

Do you guys ever use your MTV Sorority Life experience to market yourselves?

SigmaSarah328 07-28-2008 06:05 PM

No we don't. I think it's more of a hinderance than a help. That show left a bad taste in many peoples' mouths; both outside and inside the sorority. And it's actually been long enough now that most freshman were in the 6th grade when it aired, so no one's really seen it. Yeah, that makes me feel old...:)

FWIW, there was a very active discussion here on GC about SL when it first aired. Many people, including myself, didn't think that it was the trainwreck we thought it was going to be. I really enjoyed it (compared to the SL2 & 3 and Fraternity Life), but I can see how SAEPi members and non-members may not have.

And  to your 'old' comment. Let's not even go there. ;)

SigmaSarah328 07-28-2008 06:16 PM

I've heard from older UCD member that after the show was over, half the house quit becuase they were so upset over it. But I'm glad they pulled it off. And however it may have been for the girls at the time, I'm grateful that the experience happend because without it, Sigma would not have gained the exposure that pushed it from a local to a national. In fact, just TODAY I got a letter requesting expansion from a group of girls at the University of Missouri. So, we are definatly moving forward!
