Everyone has listed most of my favorites already, but hopefully these will be some films that you may have forgotten.
- Love Story - When Jennifer and Oliver get in a fight about the relationship between Oliver and his family and she storms out of the house. He searches everywhere for her, eventually finds her outside their house because she forgot her key and we learn that, "Love means never having to say your sorry." - Circle Of Friends - When Bennie is trying to explain to her parents that she doesn't want to marry "Bloody Shawn Walsh" and that she wants to live in Dublin during term time. I use this particular quote all the time, but it's a little long to post. - Pride and Prejudice - "You are the last man in the world whom I could every marry." The lines they throw back and forth at one another... cruel. - Dazed and Confused - I love this WHOLE movie. My friends and I quote it all the time. I'm sure there are more, but those are the ones that I can think of off the top of my head. Annie :) |
Best scene ever!!!
"Excuse me sir, but you'll need to check that bag." "No, I got it." "It's fine, sir.." "NO. I don't want to check it." "Sir, there's no reason to raise your voice--" "I'm not raising my voice to you. THIS WOULD BE RAISING MY VOICE TO YOU! I don't want to check my bag. And by the way, your airline, you suck at checking bags, because I did that once and you guys lost it. And I got things screwed up very badly for me." "Sir, I can assure you your bag will be placed safely below with the other luggage..." "Oh yeah? Are you going to take my bag out there and put it under the plane? Are you going to go out there, with the guys in the earmuffs and put my bag under the plane?" "No..." "No? Then shut your piehole and listen to me when I say that I am finished...with the checking of the bags...conversation!" "Sir, we have rules that with a bag this large--" "Get your scruffy little paws off my bag! It's not like I have a bomb in here; it's not like I'm going to blow up the plane! All I'm trying to do is store my bag according to your safetly regulations! If you'd just take a minute and take the little sticks out of your head and clean out your ears then you'd hear me when I say that I'm a person who has feelings and all I want to do is do what I want to do and all I want to do is hold onto my bag and not listen to you! If you can release it from my kung-fu grip then you can come and have it! Otherwise, step off, bitch!!!"~Meet the Parents, plane scene |
This was a good question!!
Cruel Intentions - Someone already said it, but when he is standing at the top of the escalator...I love the song "Colorblind" that they play in the scene too! Bandits - When Billy Bob Thornton wakes up and says "Beavers and Ducks"...for some reason it just cracks me up!! Pearl Harbor - Josh Hartnett and the girl in the parachute room...so romantic!! Varsity Blues - When they are at the strip club and see their teacher and Billy Bob is like, "a TEN, a TEN, I give it a F***ing TEN!! Oh there are so many more..I cant think of them now |
Hehe, someone mentioned The Rock and it reminded me of my favorite line from that, which was when the hairdresser says to Sean Connery, "Just please tell me that you like your haircut!" LOL
Austin Powers 3: the kickstand part cracked me up! Good Will Hunting: "I could be a basketball player. I'm very tall and I like to wear shorts. Hook! Hook!" The "how do you like them apples" part was classic, too. The Breakfast Club: All of it! One line that comes to mind right now is, "You won't accept a guy's tongue in your mouth, but you'll eat that?" The Wedding Singer: "Hey Linda, you're a bitch!" "You're going to be Julia Gulia." The ending part on the plane is the best...so sweet! :) It's also really funny and random that Billy Idol is there. Mallrats is my all-time favorite movie. :) Here are a few of my favorite lines, though: "I can't express myself monosyllabically enough for you to understand me!" "No Brodie, that was too little too late." "Too little?! I thought you said it was a good size!" "No, the effort was too little too late. But while we're on the subject, if a girl says it's a good size, that's a nice way of saying it's small." "HEY!" "I would've been a sexy chick!" "I would do it, but I threw my back out humping your mom last night." "Get him, Steve-Dave!" |
You will all laugh at me for this...
The scene in PeeWee's Big Adventure where he just made his breakfast and makes his breakfast talk, and he picks up the box of Mr. T cereal and says, "I pity the fool who don't eat my cereal!" I have NO idea why, but every time I see it I laugh uncontrollably. Yes, I love that movie...does anyone else but me agree it's the funniest movie ever made???!?! |
McLintock- (Old John Wayne, Maureen O'Hara movie)- When G.W. is chasing Katherine through the town and she keeps losing her dress.
Center Stage- Cooper's Dance - the whole darned thing- Makes me wish that I was still physically capable of dancing again American Pie- Where Finch seduces Stifler's mom! KABillyMac- Will you marry me? I absolutely love that movie, and have yet to find someone else who can quote it. "Every Which way but Loose- "Right turn Clyde........" -Lil Snakey K |
So I don't know what made me think of my favorite movie scene, but I just did, and sure enough there was a thread about favorite movie scenes...
Real Genius: (my all-time favorite) The popcorn scene at the end, just because I LOVE popcorn. Basically popcorn explodes all over this guy's house and all the neighbors are playing in it and eating it. And it's one of my favorite movies. Some Kind of Wonderful: The end when Lea Thompson (Amanda) says she wants to stand on her own and gives Eric Stoltz (Keith) the diamond earrings back so that he can run after Mary Stuart Masterson (Watts) and give them to her... and he holds her up and spins her around and they kiss... and he gives her the earrings and she puts them on and he's like, "You look good wearing my future." (sigh) Rudy: When Sean Astin (Rudy) is sitting on that bench and he's reading his acceptance letter to Notre Dame... I cry with him every time. Sixteen Candles: I know it's been said before, but I love the scene at the end when all the cars drive off and Sam sees Jake standing at his car in front of the church. |
The staircase scene from Labyrinth-ya know, when David Bowie is singing "Within You".
The Holy Hand Grenade scene in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. As mentioned earlier, the scene in Breakfast at Tiffany's where she finds Cat. The bar scene in Airplane! For my anime nut side, the scene in Grave of the Fireflies where Setsuko is hallucinating and Seita realizes that she's dying. I start bawling every time! |
Battle of Helm's Deep...
In the two towers. The Extended edition is going to add like 30 more minutes of battle as well.. I cannot wait.
|
The part in the Matrix when Trinity says "Dodge this..."
The love medley in the elephant in Moulin Rouge And the song in Billy Madison ("Do you have any more gum more gum more gum....") Oh and let's not forget the dancing gopher in Caddyshack...tee hee! |
I'm starting to be a dork and really like the "chick flicks" so far as those go I would have to say in the movie Ever After where Prince Henry comes to "rescue" Danielle and ask her to marry him and he kneels down and says:
I knee before you, not as a prince but as a man in love......" |
Mallrats- "It's not a schooner, it's a SAILBOAT!"
The Big Lebowski- the Jesus..."Walter, what's a pederast? Shut the f up Donny, you're out of your element." Amelie- the scene where Nino comes to her apartment and she kisses his face Crual Intentions- the scene with the song "Colorblind" |
Jurassic Park - when the team first catches a glimpse of the dinousars at the park and the theme song plays
Spirited Away - from the part where Chihiro goes to return something that belongs to the other witch til the end when she is reunited with her parents. I started crying when the dragon came knocking at the door...I forgot his name Shawshank Redemption - the escape scene Casablanca - the very last scene Sound of Music - when all the children sing "So Long Farewell" to the part where even the adults say good nite and also the small dancing scene between Maria and Captain Von Trapp out on the patio |
And also that scene from a movie I can't remember the name of. It's with Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo and Brosnan plays an art thief. I loved the scene where he's doing his last gig in a museum where he's being set up and he manages to somehow fool the cameras
|
Godfather, where Al Pacino has all of the other heads of families killed off as he is annoited Godfather to his sister's child.
Great, great scene. |
Though it's a cheesy film, in the Warriors the beach scene at the end "You warriors are good. Real good".
"The Best". ETA: :( A year doing Film Studies and right now I can't think of anything other than Hollywood fare. Ah well maybe I'm tired. I'll look at the thread again sometime. |
Another favorite--
the scene in Rudy when Sean Astin stands on the stool in the Notre Dame football locker room and acts out that famous speech. |
