DG had interviews scheduled for all last week (upper classmen and women not participating in formal recruitment) and this week, prefs for DG is the 27th in the Scholarship Room, and Bid Day the 28th.

sweetie, read the post - Bid Day isn't till the 28th. Interviews all week long. Many slots to sign up for.

I posted this on another thread but i'll post here too. I'm an upperclassmen who is going through the dg colonization process. I've already had my interview, and i was really impressed with the wonderful dg women i have met so far!! Tomorrow and Wednesday there are info sessions in the ferg at 6:30 (we get to pick which one we go to) Then on Saturday morning we go to the greek affairs office to find out if we got invited to pref!! I'm so excited about this opportunity and would love to share anything that's happened thus far or in the future. I'm on pins and needles waiting for Saturday!!

Good luck! Delta Gamma is doing this the right way and I am certain that this recolonization will be a huge success.

And also cudos to Greek Life and all of the sororities at Bama for being so supportive. There is a huge positive buzz on campus for DG.

Let us know how things go!

Amen to this! It seems that everyone involved in Bama Panhellenic knows that a new chapter can only improve the awesome Greek Life options already available on campus.

Jill1228 08-22-2011 09:48 PM

So how many PNMs are signed up for interviews?

I hope other big campuses take note and offer the same warm welcome to new colonies. (OK State with AOPi for example)

I hope DG has a great year at Bama. My gorgeous cousins were DGs at Wichita and I have always loved Delta Gamma because of them. I can still remember when I was 8 or 9, looking into a sophisticated 20 year old cousin's jewelry box and seeing her beautiful anchor pin.... I knew I wanted something like that some day!

Are you listening, Arkansas?

mikewozowski 08-27-2011 11:45 AM

any updates on this? : )

AnchorAlumna 08-27-2011 12:19 PM

Pref parties this afternoon.
Bids tomorrow morning.

mikewozowski 08-27-2011 12:23 PM

do you know how many interviewed? how many invites to pref?

are you involved in this (re)colonization) process?

AZTheta 08-27-2011 12:24 PM

I'm so excited about this, and waiting along with the rest of the readers of this thread for any news about the colony...I'm actually excited/happy about all the colonizations going on, however DG has always been one of my personal "favorites" because of the influence of the DG member I idolized when I was a child, growing up. That isn't a secret; I've written about it before and have told many people. I'm a member of a GLO because of her influence. Not playing favorites, just saying "Delta Gamma - yeah!"

And Alabama - holy COW - this is a Big Deal in many ways. OK, I'll go back and sit on the sofa now. After I go upload a photo to Badge Trends, that is.

Son received the following email yesterday at Bama,

Dear ABC,

On behalf of the Alabama Panhellenic Association, I want to invite you to come celebrate the colonization of Alabama's newest sorority, Delta Gamma. For the last two years, Delta Gamma has been planning their return to the Capstone. For the last two weeks, they have met with hundreds of interested students about Delta Gamma membership. They will host their preference parties on Saturday evening and on Sunday morning, DG will officially become part of our Panhellenic Community as the celebrate their Bid Day.

Delta Gamma Bid Day will happen at 10:00 am this Sunday morning, August 28th at the Walk of Champions in front of Bryant-Denny Stadium. I want to encourage our entire Greek community to become part of this historic event. Our support of this new chapter will be an important part of their success, and I hope you can join us in welcoming them to the University of Alabama.

Roll Tide,
Ashley Getwan, President
Alabama Panhellenic Association

With that punctuation and capitalization?

mikewozowski 08-27-2011 03:15 PM

let's hope not.

SWTXBelle 08-27-2011 03:31 PM

I'm so excited for all the young women who will become a part of Bama greeks tomorrow!

ADPi Diamond 08-27-2011 03:45 PM

I'm sure the errors are mine. My computer has a virus and I am typing on my iPad...I thought I had noted this when I went in and edited some errors. I had to type out the email due to me not knowing how to copy and paste on iPad. I would type five or six words and then go back to the email, read more and back to GC to type some more...I have tried to go back and correct my mistakes...I'm sorry I shared as my errors should be no reflection on UA and Ashley Getwan.

mikewozowski 08-27-2011 04:06 PM

that makes sense. i get all kinds of weird capital letters when i am texting. the phone "fixes" things for me that don't need fixing! : )

scrapinfificat 08-27-2011 04:12 PM

I hope someone posts photo's or a video of Delta Gamma bid day. I love how we of different GLO's are so excited about all the colonizations going on across the country.
Panhellenic sisterhood!!!!

Let's just say in the neighborhood of 500 signed up for interviews. Beyond that, anything else would be privateMS information. We're very excited for tomorrow. Beta Psi chapter alums have been waiting a long time for this day!

mikewozowski 08-27-2011 04:33 PM

do you happen to know if all girls invited to pref will be offered bids? isn't that the way it works during formal (a GLO has to be willing to bid a girl who is invited to its pref party)? or is it different for a colonization. i have no idea. : )

Titchou 08-27-2011 04:35 PM

Yes, I know the answer. Yes. Yes.

mikewozowski 08-27-2011 04:45 PM

so is the answer "yes" they will all get bids?

or is it "yes" you know the answer and "yes" it is different for colonization...

are you there and part of the process? if so, how exciting!

Low C Sharp 08-27-2011 04:47 PM

It was very charming when Alpha Phi turned their colonization pref into the bid party. The pictures were adorable. If DG is inviting other community members to bid day, then I guess they've come up with a different sort of surprise.

mikewozowski 08-27-2011 04:52 PM

that would be a fun surprise!

OK, from looking at your other posts, I'm not sure which you are: 1) a helicopter daddy or 2) a UA student who seems to think new sorority = he'll finally be able to get laid.

Either way, stop asking nosey parker questions.

ADPiBamaAlum 08-27-2011 06:42 PM

Welcome to the University of Alabama, Delta Gamma! Best wishes!

Titchou 08-27-2011 07:50 PM

Thank you! We're excited! (I had lunch today with an ADPi friend and her Deke husband - we all were at Alabama at the same time)

First I've seen of that. I thought it would just be us DGs. Thanks for posting, ADPi Diamond.:)

Mike's a daddy. I know him from another board. Hi Mike! (waving from across the quad).

My hometown rec girl attended pref today for DG. I am so excited for her. She is a great girl and I would be happy to have her as a sister, even though seperated by over 30 years. I texted my own daughter at UA to tell her about bid day tomorrow, just incase she doesn't check email over the weekend. Thanks for the heads up on that ADPi diamond.

I'm dying to know how it's going to go this morning! I'm in the UK, so it's almost 3 PM here...and I know we won't know for several more hours after the celebration dies down. It's killing me!

dgdramadawg 08-28-2011 11:58 AM
