I have my theory too. I'll PM you. I've read up to the 3rd book so I have an idea but Mike just started the 1st book today so he has no clue. ;) |
No spoilers until tomorrow when people have had a chance to watch it but what did everyone think about the season finale?
I'll post a review & my own theories/opinions tomorrow but all I gotta say is AWESOME! |
I really really want to see a 13 years old kid gets killed. It's so wrong though, ha ha ha.

Agreed. 100% Agreed! Joffrey needs to die NOW! What a wretched human being. I loathe him so much! He's no better in the books either. Probably worse. |

<<SPOILERS BELOW>>
That whole situation with Drogo made me way, way more sad than it should have. Not sure why. I just wanted to go snuggle my man for a while, but he was trying to sleep and was not in the snuggling mood... :p The last scene was awesome. It makes me want to read the books so I don't have to wait to find out what happens! I honestly don't understand what's going on with Arya. Who is that guy? Why is he taking her to the wall? I want to put the hurt on Joffrey. |
Quote:
That man was Yoren, he left the wall with Tyrion to come to King's Landing and plead for more men, he was instead given his pick of the dungeons. Ned wouldn't have recognized Yoren specifically necessarily but would have known him for a Black Brother and the Starks are one of the few families that still join the Brothers as a choice - see Benjen (unless there's something there I don't know about there) that's a matter of honor to them. So yeah, he's heading back to the wall and would probably drop Arya back off on the way if it is safe. Won't tell you what happens next ;) |
My thoughts on the finale & though I've read the books, I won't post any spoiler without warning & they'll be in white so only highlight if you've read the books and/or are curious.
1. Cersei - Sick Bitch! Ewwww! She fathered kids by her brother & now she's screwing her young cousin. Nasty! Just watching the show alone, I'm curious how her storyline in the show is going to go in Season 2. 2. Tyrion - LOVE HIM! I foresee much strategy/comedy with him as the Hand of the King. I still love him for slapping Joffrey earlier in the season so if anyone can keep that brat in check, it will be Tyrion. 3. Sansa - Not one of my favorite females in the series b/c of her attitude (sorry but prissy girls irritate me) however I was pleased to see her starting to stand up to & talk back to Joffrey. 4. Arya - LOVE HER! She's going North & hopefully home. SPOILER ALERT: In the books, one of the boys she's going to the wall with is one of Robert Baratheon's bastards (for those who don't recall, Robert is the dead king presumed to be Joffrey's father). He's the really tall boy that kinda helped Arya after the fat kid was attempting to bully her. Why is this important? Season 2. 5. Jon - The war going on at the Wall is just as important as the war between the kings. His storyline beyond the wall is one that really interests me. Mike is anticipating this one b/c he's been dying to see more White Walkers since we haven't seen them since Episode 1 (the creepy blue-eyed guys in the snow). 6. Dany - It was sad watching her with Khal Drogo, the loss of her baby & husband & her realization that most everyone had abandaned her except some slaves, those faithful to her & Ser Jorah Mormont. Her being found in the ashes with the 3 dragons was just like I pictured it when I read that scene in the book...well, except in the book she was bald. Lol! Not a big deal. After seeing that scene, Mike said she needs more naked time. Her upcoming storyline is by far one of my favorites along with Jon's & Arya's. I'm really looking forward to it. So now there are 4 kings. Jeez. Lol! King Joffrey (damn brat), King Robb of the North, King Renly (Robert's youngest brother) and King Stannis (Robert's middle brother). It's a war between 4 kings for that ugly ass throne. |
I caved and ordered the boxed set of the first four book from Amazon, it was only $20. I figure they will be good to take with me when I am traveling this summer.

I loved the finale. Perfect, perfect, perfect. Season 2 better get here quickly!

Season 2 starts in spring 2012 & filming begins in Ireland in late July. :) Can't wait! |
HBO you suck!
I don't want to wait almost a year for next season. |
If we have to wait another year for season 2, I hope they keep teasing the fans with mini trailers/production videos/cast interviews as they go along. They did a good job at creating hype for the first season, now I'm curious to see if they can not only keep that buzz going, but ramp it up even more.
|
I'm curious as to who they'll cast as Stannis Baratheon since he plays a bigger role in the next season.
SPOILER!!! Only highlight & read if you've read the books or if you don't care about spoilers. The casting for Melisandre & Jaqn H'gar also interest me since she plays a large role in the next few books & him b/c of his influence with what eventually happens to Arya. |
Just ordered the books as well!
|
Sigh.... looks like I'll be reading the books as well, I can't wait til April for more. I just finished watching the finale. Woweewowwow. My thoughts:
Does Cercei screw anything that isn't related to her? Yuck. Is the young guy who left with "Ary" King Robert's bastard? I hope Sansa grows a spine and I hope she's the one who kills Joffery (you know it's coming). Danerys is my new idol. I want to be the mother to 3 dragons! I hope she ends up kicking everyone's ass. I wouldn't mind seeing her kill Cersei and the rest of the Lannisters. |
Quote:
Yes She's got a ways to go / and yes he deserves it I like Dany :) |
Oh, and one more thought/theory:
Jon SNow isn't Neds bastard at all, is he? Please tell me he's the son of the dead Stark sister (Neds sister, drawing a blank on the name), and Robert, and for whatever reason, Ned swore to her he'd raise Jon as his own? That's all for tonight! :D |

I'm with the first theory about his parentage. Can't wait for more on his story in the 5th book which I've already pre-ordered.
Some info about my theory & though not a spoiler per say, only highlight if you're interested. This totally makes me happy if he would be the son of Ned's sister & Rhaegar. I believe he is older than Dany so that gives him a legitimate claim on the Iron Throne though he's a man of the Wall now but we'll see what happens. FYI, as Drolefille pointed out to me, not once in the books did Ned ever say Jon was his son. He always says something along the lines of "You are my blood" and stuff like that. Hmmm... |
My box set arrived today. Putting off opening it so that I can catch up on the household chores. Going on vacation next week, so I should get a chance to really read for long periods of time.
|
There was a big OOPS by Amazon in Germany. They accidentally shipped some copies of A Dance With Dragons a few weeks early before they caught their mistake.
Websites are publishing spoilers as to what the books say but I'm avoiding those sites. I prefer to wait for my book another week. :) In casting news, Natalie Dormer, star of The Tudors (played Anne Boleyn) has been cast as Margaery Tyrell. I actually liked this casting. I know Margaery is supposed to be 16 years old but Natalie does look like my mental picture of what Margaery looked like in the book. Sooo looking forward to Season 2! |
I LOVE Natalie Dormer. The Tudors is another one of my favorite TV shows, and her character (Anne Boleyn) was definitely my favorite on that show. She brings such passion and intensity to her acting. They couldn't have cast Margarey more perfectly! I heard that they have picked an actress to play Brienne, but haven't announced it yet. I'm curious to see what she looks like.
I'm eagerly awaiting ADWD. I pre-ordered it from Amazon, so it will arrive bright and early on the 12th. I got it for a good deal too. The original price was $35, but I got it for $18. For a hardcover of this size, that's a steal. I'm so excited to read though. Dany and Tyrion are two of my favorite characters, and I can't wait to read what happens to them next. |
Quote:
That should be interesting! I really hope they don't get some pretty young actress to play her. Brienne should be portrayed exactly as she is written in the books. Quote:

Brienne of Tarth has been cast.
The author himself posted on his livejournal about the casting of British actress Gwendoline Christie. Ummm...so NOT what I had in mind or even what the books described Brienne looking like. I guess we will have wait to see her on the show & see if they can make her look like what Brienne is described as. Maybe lots of makeup & padding? |
How tall is she!? That last picture makes her look TALL! She's very willowy, though, which is very anti-Brianne, who is described as a brick outhouse. Anyway, we'll see what they do. Still not happy about Margaery's casting *ducking to miss any tomatoes thrown at me*. That actress is way too old, and I couldn't stand her in The Tudors! Not to mention, she and Loras are supposed to look like twins. Cersei thinks they look more alike than she and Jaime. FAIL!
|
I'm happy with all of the season 2 casting so far. I think that they can ugly up the actress who plays Brienne with no problems. As for Margaery, I couldn't be happier with her casting!
|
Quote:
That picture made her look like an Amazon didn't it? I'm not entirely convinced but we'll see. Maybe padding & crap loads of makeup will help but I definitely agree about her being willowy. Brienne is supposed to be more mannish than feminine. I won't throw tomatoes at you for your comments about Margaery. She is way older than I would have liked since Margaery is 16 in the books & this actress is obviously way beyond that but again, I'll reserve final judgment (as if my opinion counts, lol!) until after I see her in the show. I tend to be a bit more lax about the ages for some characters seeing as how Rob & Jon Snow are portrayed as 17 years olds in the show but in the books, aren't they 14? Sansa is only 11 in the book but 13 in the show. *shrugs* We'll see how they do season 2. What other major characters are yet to be cast? Stannis, Melisandre, Balon Greyjoy, Davos Seaworth (the Onion Knight), Mance Rayder and one of the ones I'm really looking forward to seeing, Jaqen H'ghar! :D |
So question, I'm reading a re-read of the books, (on Tor.com) and something has been pointed out. Renly is REALLY obsessed with Margery. And keeps pointing out how much she looks like Lyanna.
Knowing about his relationship with Loras, was his goal ousting Cersei and the Lannisters and getting Robert to marry Margery? I won't post about the later books and what happens, but nothing there contradicts that... |
Quote:
Huh. I'm going to look at it & read through the re-read since that's something I haven't noticed before nor have I read anything about that particular that struck me regarding Renly being obsessed with Margery. Hmmm... Right now, I'm reading theories as to where Tyrion will continue his path (maybe find Dany?) & what Jon's role will be in the new book. Woohoo! It's almost here! |
Quote:
The actress that will play Brienne is 6'3" |

Damn you Amazon! I checked the status of my book & it will ship sometime between the 15th and the 19th! Noooo! I want my book NOW! Maybe I'll be surprised & get it today or even tomorrow.
|
Awww! That sucks. If you picked standard shipping, they said that they wouldn't guarantee that it would arrive on the release date. I got two day shipping, and it still hasn't arrived yet. Oh well. I'm still beyond excited to read it!
|
My husband preordered it on kindle so I just checked my archive, and there it was! Too bad I'm not done with A Feast for Crows yet. I'm about 60% done. I love Kindle for iPhone/iPad!

I just got mine today as well. Is it just me, or is the paper weird?
