The exact reason why to this day I buy yummy chocolate (snack size) candy bars to pass out at Halloween. That's what ~I~ wanted growing up, so I have to figure it is what the kids these days want to. :)

We usually got gifts in our Easter baskets with a little less candy. Since I don't typically like Easter candies, I'd get Starburst and Skittles, while my brother got the jelly beans and chocolates. But we really didn't get that much candy.

We'd get either a new outfit, or a book or toy we'd been coveting. But my mom loved to buy gifts (we also got small gifts for Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's Day). I think she also realized we teased for things less if she spread out any gift giving throughout the year.

When we were in college my mom still made us Easter Baskets - they usually had things like socks and underwear in them. :) After my brother and I turned 21 we each got booze (my brother got Jack, I got a bigass bottle of wine).

After my mom died I started making them for my dad, brother, and his wife. Only if we're spending the holiday together, but I think they enjoy it. Plus, I use the cutest baskets. ;) It also helps to have fun when April 1 and Palm Sunday are closer together than this year - My mom died on April 1, which was Palm Sunday.

Agreed! I'm always tempted to try one, and then I can't get past the first bite. I want it to be, like, mildly sweet vanilla custard in there, instead of 100% sugar.

See's Candy can be found out here on the west coast mostly. They were my grandma's favorite chocolates. I love their boxes of nuts & chews. They have small chocolate shops scattered around the coast, but they're also sold at several airports on the west coast. I forgot it's mostly a local thing.

The Easter Bunny always left me and my brother a basket from See's. The centerpiece was a huge chocolate filled egg that would take days to eat. It was a surprise each year which flavor of filling we would get. My favorite was the Rocky Road (nuts, marshmallow and chocolate):

My mother & her sisters all modeled at some point, usually a body part like a hand model, eye model, leg model or whatever. She had me pegged for a mouth model. :rolleyes: Turned out that I was best at hats, and only a few times. Before you laugh, check out the History Center.

For the uninitiated: one of the best ways of eating Easter Chocolate is to cut it up into single portions and freeze them. In the middle of a hot summer day, there is NOTHING more yummy than frozen chocolate!

I finally had Peeps dipped in chocolate. YUM!!!!!

I grew up in Philadelphia and it was all about the Asher's Coconut Cream Egg. They weighed one whole pound and would last for almost a month.

I'm sticking with my original post. My parents always made me an Easter basket every year since I can remember, and to this very day my mom still makes one for me every year and sends it to me in the mail. Inside, as it always has been are my "Dubble Bubble" bubble gum eggs. Yummy. :p

$20 in a plastic egg.

My easter basket always consists of candy and a few little gifts. When I was younger it was usually like a new coloring book, crayons, markers, etc. and as I got older I would get some magazines or make up as the little gifts. Sometime during high school my mom just stopped being creatived and it turned to candy and a $20 bill in a plastic egg. (not that I'm complaining!) From high school through just last year (I was still getting them cause I was living at home, lol) I would always look forward to the egg with the cash.

I wonder if I'll at least get candy still? lol
