Yeah, we already knew that but thank you! They won't be released for purchase until the holiday season. Hopefully Lilly will have another round of voting once these prints are released so some of the other sororities have a shot at winning a print :)

My favorite is Kappa Alpha Theta's, closely followed by Chi Omega's. Unfortunately, I'm less than thrilled with Alpha Phi's.

Overall, they're cute - I think they took some liberties with colors that I'm not loving (A Phi in particular...that's bordeaux???), but they're all very Lilly.

I like Chi Omega and Delta Gamma the most...

I'd be afraid to see what they would turn our Lavender and Maroon into...

But of course, I still want Sigma Kappa to get represented, eventually.

A lot of the girls in my chapter will/do NOT like this print because it is so pink. I like it, but I probably won't get anything with it because I do not have that kind of money right now :( Maybe Christmas, since that is when they'll be out...

victoriana 08-30-2011 01:39 PM

Oooh! So pretty! At first glance, my favorite print was Alpha Phi. I know the colors aren't quite right, but it's adorable anyways, in my opinion.

Just in time for my birthday :D

Low C Sharp 08-30-2011 02:10 PM

Oh, I love the Alpha Phi print! If it didn't have letters on it, I'd wear it myself.

I LOVE THETA'S

CougADPi 08-30-2011 03:11 PM

I wish I could see the ADPi one better. It looks like there is a ton of detail (crest, letters, violets, even Alphie(?)) but it is hard to see on my computer.

AZTheta 08-30-2011 03:13 PM

well... honestly, I do not care for what Lilly came up with for Theta. Displeased with the color combo and the design of the pansy (is that what it is supposed to be?).

dukemama 08-30-2011 03:22 PM

I like the Alpha Phi print but don't love it. Hot pink isn't one of our colors, but I suppose it IS Lilly. Somewhat disappointed.

Yeah, Theta and Alpha Phi are the two that left me scratching my head the most. I mean, with black and gold, there are inherent limits, but what's with the aqua color? Where are the twin stars? What about the eagle with a kite in it's beak?

And why are the forget-me-nots in the Alpha Phi pattern pink? Maybe Theta could have offered up some of that blue...

Well, money talks.

It's definitely a pansy. Look at the flower with the yellow around it as one unit. The blue...meh. I am not a fan of any of the patterns, though. You'd think they would have gone for more of the traditional colors for Theta and APhi, though. ChiO's pattern hurts my eyes. I can't tell what ADPi's pattern is...just a blue blur. I like DG's the best, although, I can only see the anchor.

I'm trying, I'm trying.

oopsies. yeah, now it looks like a (weird) pansy. Okay, you win.

Well, I am not blown away by the design, but I don't mind it either. I will def purchase something in the print.

I can see the pansy, although you are correct that it doesn't look exactly like a pansy. However, it doesn't bother me.

As for the blue, I am envisioning that it is the sky that our kites are soaring against. If I look at it that way, I am not offended that a random color was added. Black and gold/yellow was going to be a stretch anyway... we knew that going in!

All in all I am okay with it, and look forward to seeing what I can put on my birthday/Christmas list this year.

txAOII_15 08-30-2011 05:08 PM

love love love the chi o pattern! but i thought the dg pattern was the least lilly of them all. and i feel like they had the most potential...

Brilliant! You are so smart. That is exactly why it's blue.
Total blonde moment.:D

glittergal1985 08-30-2011 10:18 PM

I actually like all the prints,I think the DG one is my favorite. I do hope Lilly includes ALL the NPC groups in the next batch that comes out though.

I thought of that as well. Lilly would not do a black or gray background (and then, the kites wouldn't pop) and the pansies wouldn't pop against a yellow/gold background. Some stars would have been nice, though. It's pretty, it's just not as "Theta" as it could be.

Can't really see what is going on with ADPi's print. Maybe some purple for the violets (if there are any) or golden/tan/yellowish for lions would have broken up the monochromatic-ness?

Underwhelmed with DG's print. I agree, it doesn't really look like "Lilly". I was expecting a little more dimenson to the objects, like in the first batch of prints. It just looks so 2D. The anchors are so narrow and angular, they look like arrows. They look "stuck on" rather than "woven in". Not at all what I pictured they'd do for DG. I have such a pretty picture in my head, too bad I can't draw too well.

Love Chi Omega's. Well done to make it "Lilly" without butchering their true colors too badly. The pink and red blend. I was thinking it'd be JUST pink and yellow.

Alpha Phi's is pretty, but just doesn't look like Alpha Phi.

Greekgrrl 08-30-2011 10:42 PM

I actually love the Theta print, and am quite fond of the Alpha Phi print as well. The DG print looks kind of meh to me though.

I think it's interesting how different reactions to these prints are!

DeltaBetaBaby 08-31-2011 12:00 AM

I must be blind, because the Chi Omega one is the only one in which I can actually see letters.

ms_gwyn 08-31-2011 12:05 AM

Ok, at first I didn't like any of the designs.....I do like the Alpha Phi, but the color bothers me.

Same with Theta, I like it but that blue....just bugs me, I know the sky for the kites to fly in but still....

thetaj 08-31-2011 12:38 AM

There are stars in Theta's print, the little yellow things on the tails of the kites. I think they will all be stunning in person.

PeppyGPhiB 08-31-2011 01:34 AM

Lilly Pulitzer is a for-profit enterprise known for its NON-sorority branded prints, so I'm not sure why everyone is so surprised that it would create "sorority" prints that fit in with the rest of its portfolio. It created prints that it could still sell to non-sorority members, yet it knows that sorority women are so obsessed with the brand that they will purchase something with the LP name on it even if it is only faintly reminiscent of the sorority. It very smartly used this contest to make itself a household name in the sorority world (LP is not seen in many parts of the country otherwise). And it has no accountability to our GLOs.

and this ^^^ is why I heart you, thetaj. Thanks for turning my negative into a positive (you and Blondie93). I'll buy something (scarf? maybe...) when it comes out and I'll think of you two. And I'll be HAPPY. :D

eta: I went back and zoomed in on the prints. Would I be a perp if I bought the ADPi print? I love the colors and the design. Ditto for AlphaPhi's print. hmm...

Low C Sharp 08-31-2011 10:52 AM

LP does produce a lot of prints that don't fit into their traditional pink-and-green pastel palette: http://www.lillypulitzer.com/categor...e/pc/38/39.uts

Granted, that's a Fall collection, but elements in black, bordeaux, etc. wouldn't look wildly out of place in that family of prints. I wore my new (solid purple) Lilly this week, and everyone was really surprised when I told them where I got it. I guess LP really wanted to push the old-school Lilly look with as many of these as possible.

All of the sorority prints (new and old) have letters on them, so technically, it'd be perping. However, had it not been printed with letters, I can see why someone could want to wear the Alpha Phi print, since essentially, it's just a floral print (ivy, forget-me-nots, and lilies of the valley). If someone had a letterless Alpha Phi print, no one would question their GLO affiliation or lack thereof. Same with Chi Omega, since it has flowers and owls, the latter of which are very popular right now. But the ADPi and Theta prints have combinations of elements that would be random or incoherent to someone who doesn't know the symbolism (and even without the letters, might prompt speculations about perping). Why are pansies and black kites together? Why are there lions on an LP print? If I saw a letterless Theta print, you bet I'd assume the wearer was a Theta.

33girl 08-31-2011 12:29 PM

Is the Chi O one really as pink in person as it looks on the FB page? I mean it looks more pink than red.

I love the Alpha Phi one - as a print. As a representation of Alpha Phi though, I don't know. As far as the Theta one, the less said, the better - both the color change (they could have just used a white background as opposed to a color that has nothing to do with the sorority) and the print in general.

ASA is already all over Lily (the palm tree :) ) so we don't need no stinkin' contest. ;)

OMG!!! THOSE ARE OUR SUPPLEMENTARY COLORS!!! I am sounding the perp alert right now...the nerve of some people. :p

In all seriousness, the palm tree is my favorite of our symbols, because it's fairly unique and because of the meaning we attach to it. I wish we would incorporate it a lot more than we do.
