Personally, I'd almost rather that she not tell us which chapter it is. Her "brutal honesty" about them isn't particularly flattering, though I doubt that the chapter deserves it. I'd rather not see them embarrassed here.

There's a phrase that people use regarding wealth/beauty/popularity that escapes me right now. It goes something like, if you really have "it", you don't need to talk about it.

If this is true, that the OP preferred one sorority over most because of the way the girls looked at the parties, she's in for a shock. Relationships based on superficial things don't go anywhere. According to her story, she made choices based on something that is skin-deep.

The models in Elle and other fashion magazines spend hours in a makeup chair getting their faces spackled and their hair tortured and teased. It takes a team of professionals hours to make the already beautiful/thin/striking girls into the glamour dolls you see in advertisements.

I'd laugh if half the girls weren't as "put together" most days as they were in recruitment (there are people that keep that up, but the likelihood that 200 of them are in any one organization). They, too, were putting on appearances. But what about the other 51 weeks a year? What if someone had a nasty acne outbreak? Would the OP avoid being seen with her? Or if one of the girl's parents lost a high-paying job and couldn't get her mani/pedi/facial/massage/tanning every week or had to stop buying designer clothes?

Lastly, I looked at some of the pictures of the new Auburn pledge classes, and visited a bunch of the chapter websites. While every one had a lot of pretty girls, none of them were full of "model-types" or full of "frumpy" girls.

ellebud 08-17-2010 01:21 PM

^^^You are so silly. If mom or dad lost their high paying job THESE girls would simply walk downtown and find a modeling/theatrical agency. And then, like a flash in the pan they would be discovered and be on the cover of Vogue in two months.

...all while staying in school and dating the BEST guy(s) from the best Fraternity.

Gosh, what do we have to do to tell you about the real world?

33girl 08-17-2010 01:30 PM

You're getting really mean and sarcastic lately, ellebud. I like it. :)

AZTheta 08-17-2010 01:56 PM

ellebud, you crack me up. I like it enough to consider updating my signature with an ellebud quote, since Barbie's_Rush is too busy with wedding plans.

Shellfish 08-17-2010 02:26 PM

I'm still thinking about the fried cookies. Mmmm, fried cookies. (Actually, there is a type of Welsh cookie with raisins that's cooked on a griddle.)

ellebud 08-17-2010 02:46 PM

Ok, now I am chagrined. (eyes down)...I think that dealing with the Reluctant One has made me a better and stronger person.

...that and I can't stand stupid.

Oh hun, don't you know that she has a trust fund from her grandmama and granddaddy? She's modeling because she was discovered in her favorite little exclusive shop by a world famous fashion photographer who just happened to be in town. She learned early how to balance her hectic social/academic/panhellenic schedule and decided what the heck? I have time for a little trip to Paris for the shows!

I am really not a difficult or snarky person, I have to argue and litigate for a living, therefore I avoid it and disdain it in my personal life. That said, your "cutesy" little post just hit me every single way but right. You certainly "chapped my grits!" You literally have no idea what you are posting about. You were not in an NPC sorority and not even a local sorority, rather a "service sorority." I seriously doubt that you went through any type of recruitment let alone a competitive one.

You are trying to be "cute" and "witty" in your "oh please let me fit in" style of posting. You have totally swerved out of your lane and I find it offensive and demeaning. You have no clue about the system you are trying to make fun of whatsoever! Your comments are not "cute," definitely not "witty" and you come across worse than an adult sorority "wannabe."

Is this your attempt to get "inside" the real world of sororities so you can AI? If so, epic fail.

Just sayin', and this time I really mean it!

I'm not going to dignify this with a response, other than no matter who I am, and who I'm not...at least I'm not a troll.

And I'm not interested in AI...but since you scanned all my posts already, you should already know that.

Whoa, wait, I thought she was criticizing the OP and knew something about her that we didn't. She was criticizing YOU?? Using MY post??

WHAT. THE. FUCK.

Stop stalking me you ridiculous heifer, and DO NOT quote me to criticize someone else. Especially someone who's been nothing but nice and sweet on here. Wow, I think this tops the Drury/NWMSU bullshit. Fortunately this was QFPed...

Wait, you mean *winter* can't reference "the thing" from the sequined pantyhose thread because she's not in a sorority?!? What crawled up your ass?

ellebud 08-18-2010 11:44 PM

Who.........what..............where did she come from?..........and why? Unless she belongs to the OP.

southbymidwest 08-18-2010 11:50 PM

Actually, I found winter's post amusing. And she certainly is not the first to use "that thing" as a humorous remark. It ranks right up there with sequined hose.

Drolefille 08-19-2010 12:01 AM

B*H is, predictably, neither. And one of those annoying people who signs their posts.

You are the worst fucking sock puppet ever. YOU are trying to be "cute" and "witty" (see, I can use quotes, too) but you are so fucking obnoxious that whatever point you're trying to make is completely lost in the "blah blah blah" of it all.

Stop being such a fucking dumbass, post under your regular username, and DIAF. Thanks.

annabella 08-19-2010 12:33 AM

I've been "waiting" for it to stop "posting" such epics about "real" sorority badges and "jewelry" in that other thread, so I would know I'm not the only one who rolls my eyes every time it posts a novel and then edits it 2-3 times.

I hardly think that a grand total of 14 total posts in a thread that currently has 2,478 posts warrants such a harsh and inappropriate reaction on your part.

However, I understand since you were caught in your crass and vulgar post and it was PFQed before you could "redact" it (your words!) If you remember, that was the thread where you literally made a mountain out of a mole hill portraying yourself as such an "innocent victim" and said to me:

Classy "annabella!" You certainly explemplify the finer qualities of a sorority woman.

You were caught dead-on in that thread and tried to rally your troops but failed. Ever since then you and your friends have attempted to take it out on me and always acuse me of being a sock-puppet. However, over the last year I have grown tired of your attempts to "play victim." As I said before, perhaps it is time for you to learn manners and to grow up.

And, finally, regarding this particular thread and not the recent diversions:
It it to be totally appalling and beyond description. This is precisely the type of thread that we all dread seeing. I find it shallow and the OP to be quite vapid. My comments had nothing to do with the contents nor quality of this particular thread nor the OP.

And since everyone loves it so much, roll your eyes. Have a wonderful day! I shall anticipate you and your friends slings and arrows posted with such appropriate and refined language.

As Always,
Brutally*Honest;)

I stand by what I said in that thread. I only changed it when you deleted your post, and it no longer made sense in context.

I didn't quote what you said in your deleted post for a reason. Certainly you realize how easy it is to be hateful without being crass. You referred to the school the OP was attending as "barely more than a teachers' college," while making the other school in question sound far more competitive than it is.

You think I want something like that around the Internet for posterity? Many girls do research online now, they don't need to find you degrading their school for no reason.

And for the record, Springfield, Missouri, is a terrible fucking place.

Shellfish 08-19-2010 09:44 AM

Or crazy exes.

Really Springfield isn't too awful, it's just a small town in the middle of the Ozarks. It was just presented as so much more than that by a contentious poster in that other thread.

OK, so is it the boys there? Or would the experience be better if the boy is removed from Springfield? If so, how long should the separation time be for the boy to "get the Springfield" out of him?

If you go on a field trip to St. Louis, would he be better?

I'm considering this a public service for all women who live in or have come in contact with someone from Springfield.

I suppose it's men FROM Springfield then. And Pekin.

I can add a guy, unfortunately, due to the emotionally scarring nature of the relationship, I've blocked most of the details out of my mind and can no longer remember where his hometown was.
