Just wanted to comment on the idea that a chapter received women on their bid list that "suicided" and were not invited to their preference event. As a campus-based advisor, please let me assure you there is no possible way that chapter members would know that these women "suicided". The only individuals who see the Membership Agreement Forms are the Panhellenic Advisor and potentially if the RFM happens to be on campus during Formal Recruitment. The Membership Agreement form is the most private part of Recruitment in order to protect the PNM. Even if these women did not attend the chapters preference night, these women would never know that they single intentional preferenced their chapter, which makes the scenario seem very suspicious. The comment above that explains a chapter snap bidding unmatched women is much more realistic, and how flex lists actually work. At no time will a Panhellenic, RFM, or Panhellenic Advisor arbitrarily assign women bids to chapters just to "meet numbers"; particularly at a competitive recruitment campus.

And this is simply not possible. No panhellenic could offer a PNM a bid from a chapter without their consent - only the chapter can offer a bid I think often times a chapter adviser and membership/recruitment chairs will make decisions about who to make snap bids behind the scenes on the day of bid matching that the chapter doesn't know about. While those women who SIP wouldn't be eligible for QA, if they went unmatched they ARE eligible for snap bids or COB.[/QUOTE] I agree that these were probably snap bids. Nobody, even the recruitment advisor or chapter advisor should know what a young woman put on her bid card so the "fact" that they SIPed is probably rumor or speculation. Panhellenic officers may have that information, but it shouldn't be known to anybody else. Even in the days of hand matching, unless a woman's card went around more than once, we didn't know who else was listed or in what order. I don't believe that women in chapters of almost 200 all know exactly what went on, who was on the bid list, etc. Women can be on the bid list even though they didn't attend pref in some circumstances. I'd chalk this one up to the rumor mill. |

Alpha Gam got 67 new members!
|
Congratulations to your DDD daughter! My beloved grandmother was (I guess still is) one of the first members of the UGA DDD chapter! She still lives in Athens but not in good enough shape to go visit the new house - but I know she was excited about it. I hear they are lovely young ladies!
|
My daughter is a new Alpha Gam! She is so excited and glad that recruitment is over. She loves the girls in Alpha Gam that she met this week. I think it is going to be a good fit for her. When she finished with the pref parties, she knew she belonged at Alpha Gam. I am so happy for her!

SC Mom:
Welcome your daughter to Tri Delta. I am a sister and so is my darling daughter. I haven't heard yet how many new sisters we welcomed tonight into the house. They are bright young women and your daughter will be thrilled with her new sisters. The new house is goregeous and they will be able to enjoy is for four years. Let us steadfastly love one another - and Delta love to both of them |

Those Kappas nailed it. Tie-dye, headbands, flowers in the hair, and where did I put my Peace sunglasses? *scurries off to garage to look in treasure chest* ps keep forgetting, did I send global congratulations to all the wonderful new members at Georgia? |
I would swear that UGa published a bid list in recent years. I'm hoping to find out about the local girls.
|
They did do a list, but I think it was somewhere on the greek life website awhile after recruitment.
I just remember that it was an excel spreadsheet and you could change the sorting....it was interesting to see which chapters took more upperclassmen, which chapters had more out of state girls, or girls from certain cities, etc. by sorting it different ways. But I haven't seen it again since that year. Then again, I haven't looked. I think it was the year that a bunch of my daughter's friends went through rush--probably 2007. |
They posted one in 2007 when my daughter went through, but have not in the years since. There was a change in leadership in greek life and I don't think they agree with posting the names. Wish they would consider it again.

Thank You!

To momuga: I can't tell you how happy and excited I was when I found out you and your daughter are DDDs. Your comments about 'UGA on the inside' from yours and your daughter's perspectives were so helpful and some of my favorites when this mom was worrying about her PNM. I feel even better about the excellent choice my daughter made on pledging Tri-Delta and thrilled that our daughters will be sisters. Thank you! |
I love TriDelta endings!

Congratulations to your daughter and her roommate on Tri Delta! :)
