most NPHC orgs require you to have anywhere from 9 to 24 hrs at THAT institution.. no transfer hrs are accepted.. most of the time, freshmans are not eligible, but in same cases it could be possible.. but atleast not until their 2nd semester for sure

Thanks for clarifying!

Just because a person is not a greek DOES NOT mean that they aren't entitled to an opinion on a subject greek-related or that they aren't smart enough to go read stuff that answers other people's question. I didn't just pull anything out of thin air about what I said, and I also said that people who know differently are free to correct me. Just because you are greek does not mean you know EVERYTHING and are so much better than I am to answer a question that I can obviously find the answer to on my own.

I think the issue comes with a non-Greek quoting sorority policy. If anyone is going to quote policy for a particular sorority, it should be a member. For all you or I know, AKA could have some super secret special policy not viewable on the public side of its website that is different from what you were reading. You never know.

Why does she have to be Type Almighty Phil?

That's why people are posting big long threads in the Delta forum about not wanting to join. Because you are all meanies. lol. So there.

It's not just a non-Greek or nonmember quoting sorority policy. The nonGreeks who come to Greekchat and insist on participating in the Greekdom threads also need to know when to shut up. CDancer has been advised to shut up before.

Because she couldn't shut up even after typing about "her sister." :)

Would you go up into the Pope's house and speak on Catholicism when nobody asked you? No. You sit quietly in the parlor.

True it may be. Yet that's why I said that this is what is posted on their website. Its viewable to anyone that takes 10 secs to go there. I don't think that AKA is the type of sorority that would go around putting up false information on their website to falsely guide interested people. While yes these may be the minimum and it WILL vary from chapter to chapter, school to school, it's still what is there.

No one asked a particular person a question. If someone asked a question that is clearly printed on say a pamphlet I was holding or the bible or a hymn that I could point them to, then yes I would.

Which is why you won't be invited to the Vatican.

I think any person pursuing Greek membership (NPHC or otherwise) could benefit from learning to show some humility and realizing that they have something to learn.

^^^This^^^

I would also guess that many organizations (NPC, NPHC or otherwise) only publicly post general minimum membership requirements on their national/international web sites. A chapter's or university's requirements could be much more stringent. If you are not a member of a specific group, you have no idea what their membership selection criteria are.

dreamseeker 04-07-2010 11:13 PM

CDancer, what everyone is trying to say is that you need to sit quietly and just observe. No one is saying you're incapable of answering questions. No one here in this thread thinks they're better because they're greek. The thing is that when it comes to information regarding greek life, it is best left to those that are members. If you have to say "ABCs/XYZs please feel free to chime in", then it's probably best for you to not even bother. Do you like for non-family members to speak about your family affairs and then be like "CDancer please feel free to chime in"? They can handle their own, and as a newbie to GC and as a non-greek, it just makes it seem like you're trying too hard.

...hence the name type almighty. ;)

But I do. Refrain from answering anything AKA related until you are a member and know more than me. Just because you're entitled to an opinion, doesn't mean you should share it. That is all.

We get it. Stop acting so familiar. No...really.

Apparently you missed the memo that membership is a free for all.

Some of us were always better and Greekdom added to that.

ETA: The funny thing is that Type Almighty is not only claiming to be a nonGreek but he/she is claiming that his/her SISTER is the aspirant. Not him/herself. That's even funniererererererer....

LOL @ this entire thread.

It is also where I first learned of La Chancla.
