The changes I described in my previous post have been implemented.

This doesn't mean that GreekChat will be 100% spam free as that would probably be impossible with GC being an open registration site. However, spam from spambots should be very significantly reduced from this point on.

Please feel free to post replies to any introduction threads in our new Introductions forum and welcome all the new GCers to GreekChat.

I'm sure everyone knows, but just figured I would mention this. If not for all the moderators on GC battling it out with the spammers on pretty much a daily basis, we would probably be swimming in spam here by now. Kudos and a big thank you to all the GC moderators for keeping the bots in check! :)

I'll be getting all those deleted thread notices cleaned up as well. The good thing is all of that is only viewable in forums by the mods of the specific forum, super mods & myself. Non-mods are not exposed to the mess of deletion notices and mods do not see them outside of their forums. Some of the other forums were just about literally plagued by the spambots with the deletion notices going on for pages & pages. Anyhow, that will all be sorted out & cleaned up very soon.

You know what would be cool, if people could mark a thread as spam. After X amount of people do this then it would be hidden and noted to the mods for action.

Don't know if this is doable but its an idea that could help get the spam under control.

You can report a post/member as spam. It's sent to a specific forum in the mods forum (which you can't see). So, please mark spam asap and the mods will kill it as soon as they (we) can. Of course, there are other ways we find spam but this one helps.
