We get to keep the axe!

I was a little worried about beating the Gophers because they were given the advantage, but I was so thrilled that we won again!

Yeah...that got a little sketchy at the end, but Wisconsin played well.

lovespink88 10-03-2009 08:37 PM

We suck.

Kappamd 10-03-2009 09:29 PM

Boo to the TCU game not being televised.

VandalSquirrel 10-04-2009 05:53 AM

The game was amazing, we've actually turned around our program, and we got to storm the field tonight.

The Georgia celebration penalty was a travesty!!! They just came from behind and are being penalized for celebrating! I agree that the one against the individual Georgia play may have been warranted but how do you expect a team to act wihen they just did a great job.....walk over like they are in a funeral?

I hope Coach Richt piles on the complaints!! If not, it is going to get real ugly real soon when some of the other colleges do the same thing and the penalty causes no championships, etc. at the end of the season or millions of dollars in bowl game winnings.:mad:

SEC official says penalty on UGA's Green was bad call

http://www.ajc.com/sports/uga/sec-of...ty-155154.html

It won't change the outcome, but the SEC admitted that its officials made the wrong call on the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty called on Georgia wide receiver A.J. Green late in the Bulldogs' loss to LSU Saturday.
:p:p

Thank heavens! Too bad the call even happened in the first place.

knight_shadow 10-05-2009 06:55 PM

Dammit, Michigan :(

southbymidwest 10-11-2009 09:21 PM

GREAT college football weekend. Ohio State won, Virginia Tech won, Michigan lost. Muahahahahahahahahahaha.

VandalSquirrel 10-12-2009 12:27 AM

Idaho Vandals 5-1 one more for bowl eligibility.

I'm glad I was supportive in the past few years where our total winning games are what we've done this season. I'm a wee bit cranky I will miss part of the game Saturday due to a conference/workshop, though my roommate and my fella will go and save me standing room for when I can show up to Black Out the Dome!

Any comment out of Conference USA for their calls in the Mississippi State vs. Houston game? Seriously, at least two really bad calls that probably affected the outcome of the game.

(Not that in the course of MSU's season it will really mean anything. How lucky are they that two of their non-SEC games this year were Houston and Ga. Tech? On the upside, I suppose Mullen in bound to show improvement in his second year.)

VandalSquirrel 10-17-2009 10:08 PM

Vandals lead the WAC 3-0 and are 6-1 overall!!!

I'm looking forward to watching us on the smurf turf in a month, even if we can't beat Donkey State University I hope they are a little nervous if we beat Reno, LA Tech. and Fresno, but who knows.

I know H1N1 has hit the OSU campus again, suppose we could use that as an excuse for the football team's poor showing today? Nah, didn't think so. Sigh.

MasonsInquiries 10-18-2009 01:34 AM

the buckeyes SUCK!!

KSigkid 10-18-2009 02:01 PM

UConn starting cornerback Jasper Howard was stabbed on-campus last night after yesterday's win over Louisville: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4574560 .

Storrs isn't exactly an unsafe campus; the place is in a state of shock right now over the stabbing.

FWIW, I just read that H1N1 impacted 4 of the offensive linemen. I guess that's a legit reason for not letting them play.

AGDLynn 10-24-2009 10:53 PM

Yea, I'm proud of the Ga Tech Yellow Jackets today and REALLY wanted Miss State to win, but I also want to say

UNIVERSITY OF WEST GEORGIA WON ITS FIRST GAME IN 2 YEARS! :D
On Homecoming, the 1st year in the new stadium

Yea, it was only but 1 point but WHEW!;):D

Preston327 10-25-2009 12:53 AM

FAU has won TWO GAMES IN A ROW as of today!! Yay! Let's hope for three next week at HOMECOMING!

Unfortunately my other two teams (Miami FL and Michigan) lost, so my pro team (Oakland) has to win to have this logged as a good weekend in football.

ComradesTrue 10-31-2009 03:30 PM

While I fully get that TCU plays in an easier conference than some other top rated teams, it does not diminish my excitement at how well they are doing this year. Little ol' TCU, with an enrollment of around 7000, sitting pretty at #6 in the BCS!

I sure was pulling for Indiana to beat Iowa, but in wasn't in the cards (or the officials' plans ;)) today. Oh, well.

Anyway, after blowing out BYU last week- and an appearance on GameDay- things should be pretty easy this week for my Horned Frogs with a Homecoming game against UNLV.

Go Frogs!

You know I really resent the refs they assign to cover home games here. This is now the third time that poor refereeing or just plain incompetence has cost us a game.

SEC spreads its pain.:(:(

VandalSquirrel 11-01-2009 10:35 AM

Holy crap, every home game tis year has been insane. We score in the first 15 seconds, and twice in the last six minutes. It feels great to win your homecoming game and to be 7-2 after the BS of the previous coaches.

I will remember not to hug my classmate when we storm the field because I got super sweaty. This cold or whatever it is does not make standing on my bench seat for the whole game and yelling easy either.

Coach Akey should be nominated for every applicable coach of the year award with what he's done here.

ETA: We're waiting for you in the dome Fresno we haven't lost at home yet this season. Ask Colorado State about our noise.

Dancing in the stre--eets!!!

I really want to know if the USC band was silent. Since they only know one song, what do they do if the team isn't winning.

SydneyK 11-06-2009 11:40 AM

For the first time in weeks, Virginia Tech actually looked like a solid football team last night. I don't know about the rest of you, but this weekend's line-up doesn't look very exciting to me. Hubby and I might actually get some yard work done since there's no good football to keep us inside.

srmom 11-06-2009 12:13 PM

Go Horns!! Go Gators!! Hoping for a matchup in the NC. It might make Xmas shopping extremely simple :)

Idaho Athletic Director Refuses to Board Boise State University Themed Plane

OH SNAP! We're playing the burros in Boise Saturday. I have a family event in Spokane so I can't go and I might have to sneak away to catch the kick off and watch the game in secret until the event is over. I hope to never have to ride that plane, but much like AD Spear chose to do I usually fly in and out of Spokane.

MOSCOW, Idaho — The Boise State vs. Idaho rivalry has taken to some not-so-friendly skies.

Idaho athletic director Rob Spear says he declined to board a Horizon Air flight after learning the airplane was painted in Boise State's blue and orange colors.

Spear was traveling to Boise on Saturday for fundraising events. He requested another flight and then drove about 90 miles north to fly from the Spokane, Wash., airport to Boise.

Boise State and Horizon Air unveiled the plane, which sports the team logo on its tail, as an ode to the Broncos earlier this month.

Spear says he'll board the plane after Horizon Air paints an airplane for the Vandals, whose football team will try to beat the No. 6 Broncos this Saturday for the first time since 1998.

^^^ That is pretty funny!

So, I know that I just posted on my little 'ol TCU, but I just can't suppress my excitement that not only are they ranked #4 but that ESPN Gameday is heading to our campus!

For alumni like myself, who suffered through 2-9 seasons routinely, this is just unbelieveable. In addition, TCU has less than 9000 students- it is really a small school by Division I (or whatever that new BCS term is)standards. Things like this just don't happen to us.

Anyway, the ESPN broadcast will be from the heart of campus. Fun times.

Oh, thanks for sharing! Those were funny.

There have been tons of Boise students/fans invade TCU blogs, websites, fan sites, etc with lots of smack and trash talk. Some of the posts say that they should receive the automatic BCS bid- and not us- because they beat OU a few years ago.

Um, Einsteins, WE beat YOU last year.

The best part of these blogs/sites/etc is that all the Utah and BYU fans have been posting too. Only, they have been 100% supportive of us. They say things like "Well, I am a Ute fan, but I recognize that TCU is really good this year. I hope that Utah wins this weekend, but if they don't then we really hope that you run the table! We will be cheering for you in whatever bowl that you get." There are dozens and dozens of posts like that, and not a single one with smack talk. Mormons. Nice people.

So, go Vandals! You will have tons of fans in Fort Worth this weekend.

(oh, and geez, it is really quiet in here these days. Seems like you and I are the only ones around these parts anymore! ;))

I still lurk around here! I'm rooting for TCU and have been since the beginning of the season. I would LOVE to see a "small school" win big, especially my aunt's alma mater!

Hoping Iowa pulls it out in the next 52 seconds.

Edit: They didn't. OSU wins the Big Ten title and earns a berth in the Rose Bowl. Again. YAWN.
