I remember when I worked in the Student Union at my school I was put in charge of helping the sororities with heavy lifting and some of the basic cleaning they had to do for recruitment. I sat outside the whole day and listened to their recruitment songs and this one by far is the most infectious. It stays with you for weeks. I heard a slightly different version though It was Come on in, join the fun Meet the Alpha Gamms each one Parties, friends, loyalty Meet the girls of AGD uh-huh, soglad immanalphagamm uh-huh, soglad immanalphagamm I sat out there for so long I perfectly memorized all of their songs. I was at a Student Government event with an AGD later on and she was stunned when I was able to sing the whole thing to her. |

ETA: Lol, I just watched that Gamma Phi Flip Flop video... I love how you can tell some girls have still got it, but others look like they're concentrating super hard to remember it! (Not that I should talk cause I'm sure that I would be in the concentrating really hard group...) |

I recently practiced with some collegiates I advise, and it was different than I remember! I swear it got changed on me! :( |
Although it's been quite a while since I've been through rush (yes, it was rush back then), I still catch myself saying these..
Alpha Sigma Tau T-A-U T-A-U-S We are the Taus, uh huh, and we are the best Sigma Sigma Sigma Sigma Sigma Sigma, Tri, Tri, Tri We are the girls of Sigma Tri We are loyal to our sisters, And faithful 'till we die. All of the sisters would stand on their front porch and jump up and down - you could hear them blocks away. Alpha Sigma Alpha A A-L-P A-L-P-H-A Alpha Sigma all the way, |

I'm always humming these when I walk around campus:
(to the tune of supercalifragilisticexpialadocious) A-L-P-H-A, E-P-L-I-S-O-N, Phi, when asked the best sorority we always do reply A-L-P-H-A, E-P-L-I-S-O-N, Phi and a Delta Zeta one they sang as we left: Hope you miss us 'cause we'll miss you too Delta Zeta, Delta Zeta is the one for you |

Ok..I watched the flip flop. We did that...at Brentwood Elementary school in the early 60s! At that time it was done with two girls and obviously, different lyrics. It started with, "The space of two lips together..." Yes, despite (my) age I remember the whole thing, including lyrics. My daughters, when they were in elementary school (not far from Brentwood) did the same thing! Made me feel ancient...and great...to see this again.

I always get a couple stuck in my head...
There's the "Chi Omega! Chi Chi Omega!..." one that's been mentioned a few times. Also "K-A-P-P-A! G-A-M-M-A! Kappa Gamma! Whoo! It's what I am-a! Whoo! (repeat)" And then Alpha Phi lives next door, so right around recruitment/recruitment camp, I find myself singing this one a lot: We're the Alpha Phis, the silver and bordeaux! We wear the ivy leaf and we want you to know! We're A-L-P-H-A P-H-I Alpha Phi! A-L-P-H-A P-H-I Phi! (repeat) There's also usually a lot of discussion why it's "silver and merlot," haha. At least bordeaux and merlot rhyme. |
DEL-TA delta DEL-TA, GA-MMA gamma GA-MMA, we are the delta gammas we wear the colors pink and blue we are the delta gammas dont you wanna be a dg too dont you wanna be a dg too
PHI PHI AEPHI LIKE IT LOVE IT AEPHI WANT IT NEED IT GOTTA REPEAT IT I JUST LOVE THOSE AEPHI'S everybody here loves alpha alpha everybody here loves alpha phi |
My daughter's chapter (DG) does a slight variation of the DG cheer. (We are Delta Gamma...We wear)
I can't remember the AEPhi cheer. Its been a LONG time.:o |
There are only two that I remember (aside from ZTA) from formal recruitment as a PNM.
I remember Chi-O being the first party where the girls banged on the door while we waited outside to go in and it totally freaked me out at first and then I thought it was really cool. We are the Chi-O's We're the big number 1! We are the Chi-O's And we're second to none! So hear me calling And heed our call Go Chi-O and something something... Not sure all of that is right (maybe have gotten two songs confused...?) I remember loving Alpha Phi's good bye song: I love the ivy I love forget me nots I love the silver and bordeaux... And then of course there was ZTA with the Mary Poppins song (very hard for NMs to learn but once you do, you never forget it) and the Boom Boom song: Boom Boom! I'm glad I'm a ZTA! Boom Boom! Wouldn't have it any other way! I'm a ZTA to stay Won't you come our way? Boom boom boom Zeta love is good Won't you join our sisterhood? If you'd like to stay You could be a ZTA! |
Well, I obviously have my house's chant stuck in my head all the time:
D-E-L-T-A DELTA GO TRI DELTA D-E-L-T-A TRI DELT'S THE ONE FOR YOU WOOO HOOO! But I also love Alpha Phi's silver and bordeaux chant (as does everyone else on this board, apparently). Oh and Gphi's 'Flip Flop' has been stuck in my head since I heard it. If you need to have a song stuck in your head, here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrPCpYs012U |
Chi O-
Smile, Pep! You can tell a Chi O by her Charm and style, Boys surround her all the while Smile, pep, charm, style, That's what we got, But most of all you'll love our laugh! KD- K-A-P-P-A Kappa K-A-P-P-A D-E-L-T-A Delta D-E-L-T-A We are the Kappa Delta. We are the one for you. We are the Kappa Delta. Don't you wanna be a KD too? |
"The Coke Song"
Whereever there's an owl, there's always a key, Whereever there's blue, there's always a fleur de lis. It all started at Monmouth in 1870, With friendship, love, and trust they founded our fraternity. De da de da de always Kappa Gamma (x2) Boyd, Bennett, Walker, Willits, Stewart, and Stevenson, Our six founding Kappas, then came Lambda chapter. Kappa Kappa Gamma is always the one, Where's there's food, friends, and fun, there's always a Kappa. De da de da de always Kappa Gamma (x2) I still sing that song ALL THE TIME. |

So I go to a Christian university that doesn't have sororites, we have "social clubs" which work in much the same way. But there's a line in one of the songs sung by the notorious "party club" as my school and it goes "meet 'em and greet 'em and love 'em and leave 'em and break 'em in right, just got up to say that we're rugged but right." Rugged but Right is their motto, too. I dunno why, but it just gets stuck in my head, haha. It's sung really fast and sounds really cool, so maybe that's why? :P

Alpha, Alpha, Alpha Xi
AZD Sorority F-U-Z Z-I-E Alpha, Alpha, Alpha XI, Whoo! Sigma, Sigma, Sigma, Sigma Sigma K Like it, love it, yes, oh, yes, oh me oh my It's the best sorority, May be on earth but it's heaven to me, I say, Sigma, Sigma, Sigma, Sigma, Sigma K Oh, you may go to college and you may go to school, but if you're not a Sigma Kappa, you're an educated fool, that's all! |
Well the only chant we really do at my chapter is a generic one for ATΩ
Ruh Rah Rega! Alpha Tau Omega! Hip, Horrah! Hip, Horrah! Three cheers for Alpha Tau! A! T! O! (every chapter throws in it's own stuff at the end, and ours has always been this) AWWWW, SUCK IT! Yeah it's dumb, but it's great after a win in intermurals :) as far as songs go, my favorite is our dirtiest ;) Rat shit bat shit, p*ssy don't smell, c*ck sucker mofo Taus give 'em hell! With a Cast-iron skillet and a Blue and Gold rod, I'm a bad mofo I'm a Tau by God! (this is obviously edited, we don't really say mofo ;)) then we kill our drinks, no matter what or how much. When pledging I was always surprised how the girls thought this was funny instead of insulting or whatever. |
