There's a Neutrogena moisturing one that's light pink clear shampoo and light pink conditioner too. That one's good.

There's another called Christophe something that's in two tall white bottles but the stuff is orange. Love this too. Both these are drug store.

This might not fit the bill as per your clarifications above, but it's the best shampoo I've found at a reasonable price. I use Herbal Essences Hydralicious in the purple bottle. We have the same hair type, and I'm pretty picky about my hair feeling/looking greasy. I was using Pantene, but it left my hair feeling greasy and heavy. My tends to get pretty frizzy and dull too, but this shampoo definitely gets the job done while leaving my hair feeling completely clean. I usually wash every other day and have no problems with after-grease. It smells amazing, and it's very inexpensive, so if you end up not liking it, you only wasted about $6 for both the shampoo and the conditioner. I hope this helps :)

So, it may be surprising, but honestly, my favorite shampoo is Head & Shoulders. Both my roommate and I use it and swear by it. It really does get your hair very clean since it's made to fight dandruff. I just love the way it makes my hair feel & smell. I've used both the silk & shiney (pink bottle) and the extra volume (purple bottle). I've actually noticed a difference in the volume of my hair too! And it's only $3.50ish a bottle, so it's definitely worth a try

Actually I'm not too surprised to hear that at all! I've used Head & Shoulders in the past. I actually think I started using it because I was out so I just used whatever was in the shower. I agree, it does get your hair really clean and has a nice smell. My dad always just bought the standard bottle, so maybe I'll look into that silk & shiney!

This won't apply to your wants, LovesPink, but as a general recommendation:

I invested in using nicer shampoo once I started coloring my hair- I pay too much money to have it dull faster. I can usually get through 6-8ish weeks (and sometimes longer) without fading that bothers me, and I dye it red!

The two I've used have been Paul Mitchell Color Protect- it was okay, very lightweight, but my hair could have been softer, particularly since I have fine, but thick hair. I'm now using Bed Head Therapy Level 1 (green bottle) and I really like it. My hair gets clean, it's soft and easy to style. And it has a great scent.

Plus, if I buy from one of those mall hair places or the WalMart hair salon, they always have sales on the shampoos. I can usually get both the shampoo and conditioner for $20, which lasts me about 2 months- a pretty good deal to extend the life of my color!

I would suggest a salon brand (i.e. Bed Head, Redken) in a liter bottle. They are $20 at the salon I go to BUT they last me anywhere from 3 to 6 months (though I don't have to wash my hair much, it's really dry). It really is worth the investment because they can last so long and I think they're way better for your hair (I've noticed a tremendous difference in the number of split ends I got using drugstore brands v. salon). Also the versions you can get at Walmart can sometimes be watered down, to make them cheaper. I'd only buy them from a salon. It ends up being about $13/month for shampoo and conditioner, which wasn't that far off from what I paid before, and for me it's much less (i.e. I bought my last bottles in January and now just finished them in July). A hair stylist could also recommend a good brand for you, and some of the scents are awesome.

I use Terax collagene shampoo for dry hair...it smells like vanilla :) Terax has other lines and I love their crema conditioner

Time to update with my new shampoo: I have fallen in love with Frederick Fekkai Color Care shampoo. It is expensive, but I get it from Costco, so that at least cuts the cost a little. I do notice a big difference in my hair when I use it vs. other shampoos - not only does the color last longer, my hair is also silkier and styles better.

I like to rotate shampoos, and still find that Redken's color shampoo (red bottle) works very well, too. I always buy this in big bottles at a salon, in a package deal with the matching conditioner.

While we're talking hair, I'll add that I also use Bumble & Bumble Tonic and Thickening sprays, and sometimes a leave-in ends conditioner from Kerastase.

I'm starting to get real frustrated with finding a shampoo that doesn't irritate me, I'm not allergic to, doesn't have a strong smell, and will clean my hair and/or deal with the crap in the water that can dull it. If I find something that is sulfite free it has artificial colors/dyes. Then I find something that has citrus and chamomile but has yeast and/or other "natural" ingredients that give me red blisters on my scalp. Something that was great for my hair made my face, neck, shoulders and chest irritated since I have long hair, but the stuff that didn't set my skin on fire made my hair look disgusting. The expensive and salon lines are actually the biggest offenders, for artificial stuff and for proprietary reasons don't list everything in the ingredients.

I'd pay $50 a month/bottle if I could two shampoos so I could swap them out if/when I need to. I haven't had a hair cut in over nine months because I have no idea what is in the salon products and since they won't post it online I have to go into the salon, or my new approach, go to the beauty supply store that is also a salon and read labels for an hour. I've been getting by with the Aveda Rosemary Mint faux Suave bottle because it actually has nothing I'm allergic to, and the Aveda salon is 100 miles away so it isn't like I can casually pop in.

I haven't had a hair cut in over nine months, I can't rock the Crystal Gale look when I don't have good hair products.

^^ Have you tried plain old Johnson & Johnson Baby Shampoo?

^^^ this might sound crazy- but have you tried making your own shampoo? the easiest recipe for it I have is 1/4 cup water, 1/4 cup liquid castile soap, 1/2 teaspoon light oil (can be scented) and 1 teaspoon glycerin. If you like chamomile, then just brew chamomile tea and use that as the water. you can also add whatever additional herbs and stuff that you like- like lemon juice, aloe, etc.

It has Orange # 10 and Yellow # 5 in it, which is on my avoidance list. It also doesn't clean well for my hair type, and the smell doesn't thrill me.

I frankly don't have the time to make it since I'm spending more time with food prep and rotating ingredients to avoid new allergies or sensitivities. It also wouldn't be feasible with my travel and field work. Trying to go through airport security with home made unlabeled liquid is not something I want to experience.

I know there are products out there, and I'm willing to pay for them, it is just a pain to get my hands on some of them or get good information. Once I move my needs will probably change again with climate or water.

Bumble & Bumble creme de coco when I have $ to blow on shampoo. One time I got the industrial sized bottles and it was a good $100!!!

I agree with the salon brands. I use AG and its wonderful and probably one of the best ones (in my opinion). When I go to the store to buy shampoo (which is only like 2-3 times a year because I'm also a fan of the liter) they don't try to sell me any other type. :)
