I get the feeling, OP, that you were fairly unprepared going into recruitment. Your lack of knowledge of the terminology, particularly the term "rec" is a red flag.
Recruitment is like a job interview. You don't just walk in off the street and land a highly coveted position. The same can be true of recruitment. Can you shed some light on what your campus Greek life is like? Comment on Violetpretty's list above regarding what you think may have gone wrong, and we may be able to advise you better. |
Some of the sororities may have informal recruitment activities this fall and spring. You can contact the Office of Student Activities/Office of Greek Life to find out.
I wouldn't suggest going through formal recruitment a second time if you were dropped so early in the process on the first go-round. If you transfer, there's no harm in checking out formal recruitment at your new school. That being said, please don't transfer solely to rush or because you're embarrassed about being cut from recruitment at this current school. |

Long time watcher, first time writer, blah blah blah blah...
Anyway, I would like to add my two cents from my experience. Sometimes people who were not suitable for Greek life when they were freshmen can become great members as sophomores. I know a girl on my campus who was dropped from every house her freshmen year, who became a member of one of the top houses her sophomore year (it helped that she had a lot of friends in that house). Similarly, my house has in the past taken sophomores who we were not considering the year before. Sometimes people need a year to figure out who they are, and/or grow up. I'm not saying that re-rushing will help (I know a LOT of sophomores who don't get placed), but I'm just saying, sometimes that year really helps. |

And given this response - do you think YOU are a nice person? Because from where I stand . . . wishing a bad experience on an innocent, and also hypothetical, person is NOT the action of a nice person. Where is that nice thread when you need it . . . . |

Agreed. I still wish the OP would help us help her by filling in some blanks. Like some have said, going through rush a second time can be a real option, but that depends on several different factors. |
no, no. I am not cardsfan (promise!) I just wanted to share that while it doesn't always, or maybe even often happen, from the other side of rush I have seen girls who were actually dropped from all houses go through recruitment successfully the second time. Generally, though, this only happened when PNMs changed whatever was causing the problem (got their grades up, changed their attitude about rush/sororities, etc), rather than going through exactly the same way and expecting a different result (rather like watching Titanic and expecting the boat not to sink this time).
Probably a bad time to de-lurk, but whatevs. |
LOL every time I watch Titanic, I think, maybe, just maybe, Jack and Rose really will walk off the boat together in New York....
