I'm glad you dragged this up. I wanted to post here this morning but didn't have time to search for the thread :)

I am also glad Terence and Sarah are gone. They were getting on my nerves. I thought the same thing about Terence and the meat. They probably would have made it if they hadn't waited so long to decide they couldn't do the Fast Forward. I don't recall people "competing" to win the Fast Forward in the past.

I don't get why Tina thought they were supposed to return the costume? I was watching desperate housewives with TAR in Picture in Picture so I missed what the frat boys screw up was with the costume, but figured out they had screwed up something. This really does seem to be the season of mis-read clues. I don't get that! One would think they'd learn by now.

But, see? This is, unfortunately, why you and Nittany won't ever get picked for the show... you both are far too smart, levelheaded, rationale, normal, and lacking in emotional baggage. I for one would l-o-v-e to see teams on the show that fit this criteria, but apparantly the produces want a bunch of dim-witted, snobby, whiney, annoying people who can't read or think to prepare for a meat eating challenge.

Sigh. What used to be my absolute favorite show is losing my interest, and fast. I just can not stand the teams this season.

I can remember a few times it has happened.

First, they left their shoes at the theatre. This wasn't misreading the clue, but it did hurt them because they had to try to run to the pit stop in boots since they didn't have their shoes.

The main thing was that the clue told them to make their way from the butcher/market to the pit stop on foot. Andrew and Dan took a cab, so they had to go back to the market and the return to the pit stop on foot.

If I saw/remember correctly, Dan and Andrew passed Sarah and Terence at the market when they returned. So, if Terence and Sarah had left the FF as soon as they saw what it was, then there seemed to be a good chance they would have hit the mat before DAndrew.

Have hope, Blondie, have hope. The slew of hapless teams seems to have really hit this season, but who knows what might happen in another season. Maybe even Team GC is possible.

Ok, I watched the last 20 minutes on the DVR now. I'm all caught up. Thanks for the explanation MC.

Next episode should be a non-elimination, I think. Down to 4 teams and there are always 3 in the final show.

nittanyalum 11-18-2008 01:24 AM

LOL @ Blondie & MC. Still doing my hurdle stretches, MC, and now I realize I need to start an "eat things I don't normally eat" regimen to add to my conditioning so I don't hold us up at a Fast Forward. I'll be ready when we get the call! ;)

And I echo the glee that T & S are gone, they drove me nuts.

MysticCat 11-20-2008 12:45 PM

According to Terence and Sarah's interview at Reality News Online, it took an hour each way to get to and from the Fast Forward. That's two hours, plus however long they stayed at the FF, that they got behind by trying the FF.

Nevertheless, they came in 7 minutes behind DAndrew. Like I said earlier, if they had just walked out as soon as they saw they had to eat meat. (They talked about that, too.)

Oh, and this:

RNO: What’s the state of your relationship now?
Sarah: It changes minute by minute.
Terence: I’m waiting for her to propose to me.
Sarah: Yeah, we go up and down. We went through a pretty bad time when we got back from the race where basically I came home one day and Terence had dumped all of my belongings with my doorman and said he didn’t want to speak to me again.
We realized we were going to go through this together, and it’s a special thing to share, so that gave us an opportunity to give it another shot. It’s a very touch and go situation.
Terence: The Amazing Race tore us apart, but it also brought us back together. We got to watch eight episodes together. It’s been cool.

About dumping her stuff with the doorman -- why am I not surprised.

AGDee 11-20-2008 01:31 PM

He was making me want to vomit with all his "Great Job, Love" "You're doing great, Love" during their last episode. Plus, he was gushing about how much he loved her to Phil at the pit stop too. I was thinking to myself "Who are you trying to convince? Us or yourself?"

ComradesTrue 11-20-2008 01:37 PM

Let me get this straight....

Sarah endured Terrance through the whole race, and then she has watched all 8 episodes thus far. Therefore, she is seeing the same footage that we are.

They return home from the race and he dumps all of her stuff off with her doorman.

She hasn't dumped him yet, why?

nittanyalum 11-20-2008 03:26 PM

And didn't it say "newly dating" under their names on the show? But they were living together? Or am I remembering the wrong "moniker" for them?

It did. And I'm not sure how "living together" they were, since she refers to "my doorman." I took it that she had stuff at his department that he left, along with a message, with her doorman rather than actually talking to her himself.

What a mensch.

Ah! I misread her quote, I imagined she came home to "their" apartment one day and she found all of her stuff down with the doorman. I get it now. She's an idiot for still being with him.

Bumping!

Almost done!

TAR is supposed to start in 30 minutes but the football game is still on, THEN 60 Minutes is on. This is infuriating every single week.

ETA: I spent some time watching the videos from the Elimination Station in Acapulco. Looks pretty cushy! I would now like to be on the race and get kicked out first :)

Sooooo sad at losing our mom/son team. Fraternity brothers have grown on me - goofy, but somewhat endearing. It's the separating couple I want to NOT win - either of the two others would be okay.

AGDee 12-01-2008 06:58 AM

I'm rooting for Nick and Starr at this point. I was also sad to see Toni and Dallas eliminated. I don't remember seeing Phil go to a team to tell them that they were eliminated. I guess he figured they'd had a bad enough day, why continue to put them through it? They had a passport issue to deal with too, during business hours.

I have mixed feelings about Ken and Tina. They rub me the wrong way but they have helped others several times too. I'm really on the fence about them.

I don't see the fraternity boys being together enough to pull it off in the end, but you never know!

ComradesTrue 12-01-2008 08:38 AM

^^^ I do remember Phil going to the contestants at least one time. Due to flight issues (I think...) there was one team that wound up a full day behind everyone else. If memory serves me correctly it was the final 3 and they were in Alaska. There was no point in having that team do the challenges when the other teams had already crossed the finish line.

I am sure others can correct me on this if my memory is fuzzy.
