That will very much play into LSU's hands, there is no way App. St. is goign ot be able to prepare to cope with the scorching heat and humidity that we in Louisiana are grown so accustomed to.

"It's night, half the place is loaded, the fans have been partying for like 20 hours straight, this is the last place you want to bring a young QB into," says one coach.

It doesn't even mention the fact that more than Death Valley crowd has measured up on a seismograph. Michigan maybe bigger, but App. St. has never met over 92,000 drunk cajuns.

Much the same thing at LSU really. Thats why LSU hardly ever plays anyone in-state, most Louisiana collegians are fans of their own college, but LSU will inevitably trump it every time. I myself am much like that, my own schools football program is nothing to scoff at, they are pretty damn good in their own division, but its nothing like LSU.

Actually, they came down in November 2005 but it was a night game. ;) http://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticle...&ATCLID=211019

One other thing about that game. During a break, the ASU AD and another ASU official presented a check to the Katrina/Rita Student Relief Fund. It represented over $20,000 that the ASU family raised for our students. It was one of the more touching events that I had ever witnessed.

Hm, thanks for that reminder, I didn't remember that.

Not your fault. It was the only 2005 game that wasn't televised and it didn't get much press.

I don't think I would have had electricity by then anyway come to think of it.

Come again?

Think about that real hard and get back to me. Famous location...one of the most storied rivalries in sports.

College Football and Alex Trebek

I had to share that one of my "favorite" teams made it onto "Jeopardy" today.

$200 clue referenced the team that played in the 2006 and 2007 BCS Championship Games for two consecutive years but did not fare well due to a total of 79 - 38 between both games.

I howled with laughter. So much, that I could not answer, "WHO IS OHIO STATE?" It would've been beautiful if someone had shouted,

"GO SEC!!!"

On another note, the last question referenced Boise State's 2006 Fiesta Bowl win and the player winning his girlfriend's heart with a proposal.

I need August 30 to get here pronto.

What you guys think about Ole Miss. (Obviously not a national title contender), but with Nutt and a possibly decent quarterback whose to say a possible bowl appearance?

I wouldn't be surprised at all. Ole Miss manages to have some quality talent. Not enough to be all that good, but probably enough to win 6 games with Nutt there now.

This is why I think Florida will be able to head back to the National Championship this year.

"Imagine this. You’re the defensive coordinator of a Southeastern Conference team on Florida’s schedule this year. You’re sitting up in the booth, still trying to figure out what you’re going to do next time Dan Mullen slips Chris Rainey into the backfield to go along with Percy Harvin and Brandon James in the slots and suddenly the Gators break the huddle with Louis Murphy, Deonte Thompson, Percy Harvin and Chris Rainey. Then you notice the guy on the far side of the field. That’s Jeff Demps. We’re talking about trouble, right here in River City and that’s trouble with a capital T.
Murphy has run a 4.27 40 yards and he’s a sprinter on the Florida track team. Thompson has done 100 meters in 10.3 seconds, Harvin has done it in 10.4 and Rainey outran Walter Dix in the first leg of the 4X100 relay at the NCAA Track and Field Championships a couple of weeks ago.
And then there is Demps. Saturday he did a 10.01 in the hundred meters at the Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon and by the way, he beat Dix to the tape in the quarter-final race in which he not only tied the world record for his age group, but broke the all-time American record for 100 meters by a high school kid."

College Football

It is RIGHT around the corner. I am giddy as a schoolgirl

I'm sure you've seen some of the major players for 2008 per most rankings:

Ohio State returns a REDICULOUS amount of starters.
Georgia ended last year strong, and looks good.
Oklahoma returns a nasty offense.
Missouri is the media darling.
Florida with the RB at QB.
SC breaking in a new QB.

What do you think?

Elephant Walk 07-15-2008 02:12 PM

I'd like to say there's a thread down around here somewhere.

Ohio State sucks. Can't wait for them to be proven overrated yet again.

The winner of Georgia v. Florida will win the National Championship.

It's SEC FOOTBALL!

banditone 07-15-2008 04:15 PM

EW, how do the pigs look? I'll be in Austin for that game this year for sures.

CrackerBarrel 07-15-2008 04:52 PM

Yup, winner of Florida/Georgia will play for and win the national title as an undefeated or one loss team (LSU may beat one of them). UGA and UF are far and away the two best teams in the country this year though.
