You can't hold yourself out as someone with clout sufficient to influence voters and then hide behind your husband. I don't want people to make fun of her personal appearance, or go after her child-raising abilities, or anything of that sort. But if she's got extreme views and was dumb enough to state them for a camera, I certainly think that is relevant. If Cindy McCain turned out to be a white supremacist, I certainly wouldn't want her to represent this country as First Lady.

OMG.

I agree with shinerbock :eek::p

The biggest reason I will never vote for Al Gore, even if many of the people she affected directly are stupid enough to get on his side.

I agree with you depending on how this ever gets out and publicized- if it does. If this gets into the general media via some reporter or pundit putting it out there, that is one thing.

But for anyone in the Republican power structure to push this out there as PhiGam was suggesting is a very dangerous and inappropriate strategy in my view- and it has backfired in the past as my earlier post indicated.

Surely this is frustrating since Obama is definitely getting the kid glove treatment from the media, but that would still make it dangerous for Republican interest groups to be seen getting this story out.

Yeah, I'm not particularly worried about the backfire. If it happens, it happens. I don't want to go too negative, but there is a significant portion of the public that is wary of Obama and the GOP should certainly explore that hesitation.

If the tape is out there, it'll be distributed without overt party involvement. As one blogger on this story wrote-- the GOP may have been ineffective on the economy and the war lately, they're "hell on wheels" with opposition research. Of all the things that worry me about November, the art of politics in not something the GOP is insufficient in.

For the country, for the people (ie US) which is more important?:
Economy, the war, or all the other issues which have an impact on us
OR
"Opposition research"

Having been, for just a week, in a battle ground state last time around I am not looking forward to what I believe is going to be what maybe the dirtiest battle anyone has ever seen.:(

I should add that I know people in the camps.
All have told me that they have "books" on/about everyone else.
The problem I have is only some have said that they will be using them to stay on policy matters and to defend themselves and show differences.
Others just say that they have books.

Your ability to point this out in every thread is quite tiring.

To me and many like me, keeping Barack Obama out of office may be THE issue for this election cycle. Exposing the truth about his family's political and social ideology is a tool which may allow that to happen.

You think Cindy McCain is the EPITOME of a WOMAN... You think differently about Michelle Obama. Since you are incapably of putting her on a pedestal, like you can with Cindy, are you telling the GC public to solely select their next president contingent on a "bikini mud wrestling death match"?

Please come out of the closet with your rhetoric cape and state what you really feel... Stop it with the bullisht. Fearmongerer...

I'm not the one who just authored an incoherent post based entirely in fantasy, so no.

Can you find one relevant quotation that supports this?

Seriously - these kinds of claims require some sort of citation, otherwise it's just silliness.
