Your analogy of Italians and Greeks having the same historical grievances as Native Americans doesn't fit.

Everyone has historical grievances. The Romans have historical grievances against the Visigoths, Ostragoths, Vandals, Germans, etc.

So I suppose that if I have Visigoth lineage, I'd better not be caught wearing a Toga, eh?

That stretch is slightly less painful than his law school one from the other thread. :)

So, some students decided that they would show how silly they thought it was by protesting a party some frat house had a week later, one that was called "Redneck Hoes" or something like that. Anyway, the admin basically told them it was no big deal. Similarly, frats hold BET Vs. CMT date dashes and not a word is said by the admin.

I think they pick and chose, really.

These theme parties are really dumb.

All I could get out of it is that he said I'm an interesting person. I'll own that. ;)

I haven't been to a luau party (or a toga party, for that matter).

Have you ever felt offended by the luau parties beyond thinking GLOs having the parties is dumb?

GLO hosted or not, I do get offended. If you're going to have vodka in your watermelon, call it Kamanawanaleiya, and have fluorescent plastic leis, call it a Tropical/Island theme. Don't call it a lu'au. And don't call it Hawaiian. If you're going to serve pua'a from the imu, serve poi you've prepared, and have someone dance a nice hula to celebrate a life milestone, then that's a lu'au. My friend Aaron made a big stink about it at Dartmouth almost a decade ago.

If you ask me, I think themed parties as a whole are dumb. I went to my share when I was a collegian and made fun of it the whole time. They tend to be cheesy and embarassing and so not worth my time.

Me too. My favorite part was the kid saying they had no right to apologize.

You like to talk and make snide comments about women being "equal" to men. This is clearly ridiculous. One thing to your benefit is that you thoroughly chew and swallow your food before you begin to speak. That is quite polite of you. I am pondering the question of whether or not you believe yourself to be a fascinating personality.

My dear Kevin, sir. I do hope that you can make sense of what this fine young lady is saying. It doesn't appear to involve her cooking a meal or carrying a child so dash it all I just cannot fathom what she could be going on about.
