Have you ever felt offended by the luau parties beyond thinking GLOs having the parties is dumb?

GLO hosted or not, I do get offended. If you're going to have vodka in your watermelon, call it Kamanawanaleiya, and have fluorescent plastic leis, call it a Tropical/Island theme. Don't call it a lu'au. And don't call it Hawaiian. If you're going to serve pua'a from the imu, serve poi you've prepared, and have someone dance a nice hula to celebrate a life milestone, then that's a lu'au. My friend Aaron made a big stink about it at Dartmouth almost a decade ago.
If you ask me, I think themed parties as a whole are dumb. I went to my share when I was a collegian and made fun of it the whole time. They tend to be cheesy and embarassing and so not worth my time.
