Hey newbie, the arrow thingie is a new trend http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Anways ksigrc, the NL answer is Mark Whiten. The significance was he tied the all time single game marks for hr's-4 and rbi-12.

The answer to the question of the last tiger stadium home run was Robert Fick.

Actually . . . Whiten only hit one grand slam, i think - either way, it's been done in both leagues since then (and that was a great guess - i'd totally forgotten about that).

NL - Fernando Vina - significant b/c he hit both in ONE INNING, in '99.

AL - Nomar Garciaparra, in '99.

Alas, that is the essence of this sort of 'trick' question - the players have to be the top hitter at their position, in their league. Thus, the answer is JASON GIAMBI, who of course puts of great numbers, but is still annually behind the great Carlos Delgado, the winner the last two years. Giambi's never won one - but Alomar and Palmer have, by out-slugging weak competition at their position.

Thanks Rob http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif - I feel better now! Then Barry must have won LF Silver Slugger in the NL last year, right?

Okay new question. Which pitcher in the 1940's won two straight mvps and finished one vote away from winning a third straight?

newbie 07-27-2001 03:23 PM

Ex Greek, I don't know!

But just wanted to tell you guys that I"ll be gone for 2 weeks to Vegas and Los Angeles!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif So, don't think I'm ignoring the baseball threads or anything http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif!

BTW, ExGreek and Rob, can you guys sorta keep me updated on any trades that the Giants make? Like post them in the other baseball thread if anything interesting happens? thank you! i won't have internet for 2 weeks and most likiely i won't be watching the news much while i'm away!

thanks again http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif! hopefully the giants will play well these coming weeks, too!

Thanks, I will make sure that I have lotsa fun http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif. I can't wait to go on the Disneyland rides again!!@!!! I love Disneyland http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif. Especialoy matterhorn mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad!!!!! Yippie! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif I'm happy b/c the Giants made another move b4 I left- Wayne Gomes is now a Giant! Interesting move, b/c gomes and J.T. snow have had a very intersting history between them (lots of fights between them), but that should be past them, since it was about 3 or 4 years ago! Hopefully all goes well for the Giants and Gomes/Snow http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif! And we just won 9-5 over Arizona! So, at least a split.... I'm hoping for a SWEEP though!!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

OK, well now i have to finish my last-min. packing! bye bye for now!! BTW, Barry hit a bomb for his 45th HR tonite!!

P.S. ROB-congrats on Saberhagen!

KSigkid 06-02-2003 08:40 AM

Answer is Fernando Tatis.

Now, who is the last PITCHER to hit two grand slams in the same game?

wreckingcrew 06-02-2003 10:32 AM

Tony Cloninger

I know one. I'm thinking of the pitcher from the Cleveland Indians who stop Dimaggio's streak. last name is gordon? I don't know about the other one.

Jim Bagby and Roy Weatherby (I'm a huge Yanks fan, so I remember that stuff)

What pitcher holds the modern major league record for victories, and with how many?

wreckingcrew 06-03-2003 12:29 AM

KSigKid-

Your bro posted the answer to that question earlier on in the thread. It's Cy Young.

My question is this, in reference to the "shot heard round the world". Yes, it was hit by bobby thompson, but WHO was on deck for the Giants when it was hit?

Kitso
KS 361
