Re. the stair case: the two sides leaned towards each other. like this: / \, and met in the middle. Hmmm... what letter might that resemble? Regarding choosing from among the chapters, more will be revealed in the next installment.

Lambda?? or Delta....

Hmmm...

If it met in the middle (probably a landing of some sort which would make for great chapter photos), I'd put my money on Alpha. And that could be just about anybody!

I too would guess it would be looking like an A, which means Endless Love is either Theta, A Chi O, ADPi, A Phi or AGD (since those were the only houses she said she rushed that have Alpha in the name). So we're narrowed down to 5!

well my guesses for the possible letter stairway is going to be bold & in purple

Here are the chapters:

Kappa Kappa Gamma
Kappa Alpha Theta
Pi Phi
Delta Gamma
Alpha Chi Omega
Alpha Delta Pi
Chi Omega

Gamma doesnt make any sense... neither does Pi or Chi. and id be pretty impressed to see an Omega staircase.

im also putting my $$ on it being an Alpha staircase. but a staircase in the shape of an "A" isnt as awesome, as say, Kappa, or Omega, or even Delta.

p.s. to quote JD "Pat Benetar is awesome!"

Alpha or Delta. The only other option would be Lambda, but the OP is not Earp, oh and this is a sorority recruitment.

well if the staircases had a little platform in the it could be an x, and a pi would be two staircases going strait up. gamma would just be like a staircase with an open overhang to right.

ah smart one... didnt think about it that way.

archetecturally, to staircases straight up isnt visually appealing. now i can see an "X" staircase... a gamma staircase... eh, i still say no.

anyway, i put my $$ on Chi Omega or Delta Gamma.

Not safe either. Can you imagine trying to walk up a 90 degree staircase with your hands full? It has to be an Alpha, Delta, or Chi.

installment 4

Day 4 was theme day, and our rush counselors warned us that there would be cuts. By this point, many girls had withdrawn. (Rush was billed as casual, and “laid back” at my campus, but it really wasn’t. Many girls, myself included, signed up, not knowing exactly what it could be like. I think that schools like Ole Miss and UGA are much more honest about rush. Girls who rush there, I would imagine, have a more realistic expectation of the process) Another digression! There was no knock on my door, so off I went to collect my invites. I opened my envelope, and my heart sank. I had only been invited to Berlin for theme day. I was shocked that I had not been invited back to Endless Love! Still, I put on a bright face (I thought), and got ready for my sole party. My outfit that day consisted of another sundress, this time with a pink skirt, white top, and purple sash. Shoes: wedge sandals. My roommate, Ms. Debutante 1981, had only been invited back to Nancy Reagan. I recall that many girls did not have a full schedule for this round, so I did not feel so bad. My rush counselor tactfully pointed out that if I withdrew, I could rush again the following year, or interview with the sorority that would be colonizing in the winter. I didn’t read between the lines of what she was saying, and set off for Berlin. My rush counselor, “Anoinette” knew that there would be even heavier cuts right before preference.

Berlin had a rodeo theme for today, with a catchy song. The girls I talked to were friendly, and again, I felt at home. The conversations were goodd, as I recall, but I was a bit sad that Berlin was my only invite for the day. I made sure not to eat too much, after my experience at Diana. Once again, good conversations with everyone I talked to. I left Berlin, confident that I would be returning for preference.

Ummm, I think you mean 45 degrees. 90 degrees is a right angle.

I was replying to the notion of a Pi staircase, which would be 90 degrees. I said that the real staircase has to be an Alpha, Delta, or Chi because these have more realsitic angles. Come to think of it, it could be a Kappa too.

Keeping the thread off topic...

I have been trying to find a photo of the infamous staircase to nowhere at the Pitt Student Union. When I think of it, its shape IS an Omega - a horseshoe shape, flaring at the bottom. The SU was actually the Hotel Schenley at one time, "the" posh hotel in Pittsburgh, and the staircase went to an exclusive ballroom on the mezzanine. Of course, that's before the geniuses at Pitt decided to kill the whole concept - so now it's just used for photos. And yes, you do have to walk up & down with great care & grace.

Anyone have a picture to back me up?
ETA: found the following. Mods, if you can scale it down, please do so. There are no copyrights on it (and usually not that much furniture!)
