April 22, 1977...EARTH DAY!!!
Miami1839...haaa, good old Camp Pendleton. When we were stationed in Yuma, AZ Camp Pendleton was our escape. We would leave town whenever possible to visit our old friends from Okinawa who were stationed on Camp Pendelton. BTW, my family moved back to Okinawa in July of '99. They'll be back in the summer of '02. It seems so weird to think they are there...again. I have yet to visit. I'm running out of time so I better make it soon. It seems beyond my imagination that I would ever be going back there. |
I was born 1-22-66 and damn proud of it http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Yeah, i had a mini crisis about birthdays since i was 18, don't get me wrong i was excited, but 18 ment i was no longer a "child" now i was a young adult, 19 was a yeal older then 18 and not a very special number at all, 20 sent me crying for 48 hours because i was no longer a teenager, 21 ment i had noting to look forward to anymore. Yeah, my car insurance went down lets party. (not).the way i see it, there's nothing good after 16. you have a car(freedom) you have your parents supporting you, you might dabble in some part time work but it is nothing really difficult, and you don't know the beginning of school work yet, you still have plans to change the world and be someone, your spirit hasn't been tarnished by someone with manager in there title b/c they can't belive they have spent 20 years in the position and is still makin 30 grand a year.. ah the good life, john couger meelancamp had it right. hold on to 16 as long as you can. --------------------------------------------- so i just reread this post and i have to say it was a bit harsh, i had jost gotten in from work, and was grouchy and tired, and i needed my daily GC fix, its sounds much worse then i ment it, but then again i am a gemini and we are supposed to be the forever young branch of the zodiac so maybe i look at growing UP as a bad thig, while others see the merits of the situation. Wow. This topic is kind of a downer for valentine's day. I forgot to mention I'm a Libra. I have to restore balance to the universe. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

I'm totally feeling you!!! I had the same thoughts and feelings at each of those ages also, right up to 21. 22 wasn't so bad, but when I turned 23 and could no longer be under my parents medical/dental insurance it through me right back into my slump. I'm turning 24 in April. I feel that I am finally coming out of this midlife crisis that I've been going through for the last four years. I have always fussed over what age I was at only to discover another year has passed me by. So, I have learned/am learning to enjoy everyday and embrace the age I am at, since I am just going to get older http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif |
is it true that when you hit 23 you are no longer under your parents health insurance? that is so scary, i am only 20, but what if by that time i havent gotten married or have a good job that includes insurance?? ahh!!!

Shopgirl,
How cool with your birthday being on Earth Day http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif I havent been to Camp Pendleton since I was born. I lived in California mostly when I was little. We lived around that area and in Treaure Island in San Francisco which has been closed the last few years due to the military base closings. Thats awesome your parents live in Okinawa now. I havent been there since 83. Maybe someday I'll get to go back and see how its changed. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif |
Hey bucutie
I lose my insurance under my parents at 22 (in june http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif ) even though i will still be a full time student but then again they both work for the federal gov't so maybe thats it( I refuse to make any snide comments on that situation) |

It's not true for everyone. I know some people who were able to stay on their parent's insurance until they turned 25. However, in the military (my father is a marine) you are only covered after 18 if you are a student and at 23 you are cut off whether you're a student or not. It was hard at first, but then you get over it. I have insurance through my job now and it's really not so bad. I have a better understanding as to the way things work. So, don't worry too much. Just ask your parents what their insurance policy states about dependents. Hasta Pasta!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif |
I feel like a baby almost. September 8, 1981. Virgo. I'm not a neat freak in the slightest though.
I'll turn 21 the beginning of my senior year. That sucks so bad. :P Heidi |
