Yeah, but just barely. Weren't we in the same classes in high school?

Those rainbows are so nice; you must be right.

I am not a lesbian... and not a hippie! :D

I only wear Birks too! (although I am somewhat of a hippie) My sisters were shocked when I showed up to initiation in a pair of regular white dress shoes - it was the first time they had ever seen me in ANYTHING but Birkenstocks, lol. :)

Recently, I've been hearing that black people don't wear flip-flops. WTF?! I know that DMX gave Jay-Z some static for being seen wearing them, but an entire race of people don't wear them at all?

That means I have to get rid of my Havaianas! :(

So you are saying that all of the millions of people who own Rainbows are lacking in the fashion sense area. I thought that if it was something that people liked and thought looked good, they usually bought them, and as other people thought they looked good, they too invested in such an item. Well I guess the majority of people must be wrong here

Lots of people wear Crocs, but that hardly makes them not ugly. Just saying. (I own a pair of knockoff Crocs for work.)

Havaianas are so comfortable!

How can we turn a thread about flip-flops into a racial thing?

How about we stick to the subject (flip-flops) so the thread can stay open?

Are you suggesting we do both? Because it would totally happen.

DeltAlum 07-02-2007 12:54 AM

I'm suggesting that you guys talk about the shoes instead of which ethnic, racial or religious group wears what.

Why go down that road?

What had happened was....*sigh*

Somebody can't read (not DeltAlum)! OK, more like poor literary analysis skills....

^^^ See, that quote right there is a result of miscommunication. I responded to cuteASAbug's comeback with:

Nice comeback. I think we've found our newest candidate for the ignore feature.

I actually meant that her comeback was nice. When I thought we had someone to ignore, I was referring to omegaland with his dumb remark about white people and flip flops. That's one of the dumbest things I've read in some time on GC. Flip flops are universal and comfortable as all get out. Some folks pay more than others, but that's what they can do.

Some folks like controversy, but that's on them. I like flip flops, and so do millions of others. No racism on my part.

When I first read it, I construed the "Nice comeback" as sarcastic. Then, as I thought about it, I figured out that you were being sincere. Especially since that omegaland has proved to have the posting ability of a 5 year old. But I do see how people got confused. When you quote someone, and then mention putting someone on ignore, it's assumed that it's directed at whomever you quoted, unless otherwise clarifed.

In short (I know, too late), I read it and could see how it could have been taken both ways.

I can read, you just need to structure your sentences a little better. It truly looked like you were attacking CuteASAbug.

You're the only person who read my sentence that way (unless others chose silence). After all, why would I want to put CuteASAbug on ignore when she's been here for some time and she's not mistaken for TomEarp or other "troubled" persons?

Again, pointing to literary analysis or at least basic use of context clues, I'll assume you can't read just as I can also assume you can't construct a sentence well because your first "sentence" is a run-on with the comma instead of a semi-colon. (Former English teacher... )

I'm done with this before it turns into an English debate.

Flip flops are cool and all, but I'm not ready to spend double digits for shoes I might wear in the shower. I've seen some suede flip flops that were cute, but I guess I'm not gonna hear anyone on expensive flip flops considering I'm not into names like that.

I love flip flops. In the summer, they're practically the only things I wear. I don't think I would get suede ones though, since I hate suede footwear and bags. I needed to replace a brown pair, so I went to J. Crew yesterday. Walked out with four pairs. Admitting you have a problem is the first step. I haven't gotten to it yet.

When cuteASAbug needs to replace something, she replaces it with 4 somethings. Which makes for interesting times when she breaks up with a guy. (Just kidding.:p)
