Not yet but I'm sure MsCoCo81 will let us know when everything has gone through. She said that they were going to move forward with things in July.

Hi Soror!

You all should be proud of her. She was very humble in trying to find out more about the Philo Club and I can tell that she will be a great asset to the family. I also told her to make sure you all write something for the Aurora so the sorors can read about them.

Also, I tried to find a website for your chapter but I couldn't seem to find one. If you have one, please post the URL.:) I may be leading the effort to reactivate the Alpha Eta Sigma (Philly Alumnae) Philo Club so I may be calling on you in the future for a little help.

is this chapter active? I ask because if it'll be more motivation to make my move there!

Hi soror!

Alpha Eta Sigma has been consistently active since 1941. The chapter maintains on average between 40 to 60 sorors, sometimes more. Many of the undergrad members from schools in Philly and the surrounding areas: University of PA., Temple, Cheyney, Penn State, West Chester, Lincoln, and others end up transferring to this chapter upon graduation, although there is another chapter now in Chester, PA. (Theta Psi Sigma) that was chartered in 1999 I believe. I recently reactivated with Alpha Eta Sigma for the upcoming sorority year which begins in September. Let me know if you are looking to transfer and I'll contact the chapter Basileus. Also, their website is www.sgrhophilly.org.

Philos

Hello Ladies!!!

I am so very sorry that I have not posted in while, but I am in school, and this GPA must be on point!:).

In the mean time, between time, we are trying to bring the induction into the Philo organization to a head, so that we can get to work. I will definitely keep you all posted, and will more thoroughly introduce myself appropriately, when the time comes!

Much Luv Ladies

MsCoCo81

Philo Club Interest

Greetings Ladies of Sigma Gamma Rho (and lurking Philos :) )

I am writing because I am interested in the Philo Club and would like to know any additional information that anyone can provide. I have already been in contact with my local chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho's president (grad chapter) as well as the National Philo Advisor, Wanda Nelson. I've also looked at the national website and several individual chapter websites to gain information and loved what I saw! Moreso than anything I would like to know what the requirements are to start a Philo Club. I would appreciate any help that you lovely ladies can give me. Feel free to e-mail me at songstress_2004@hotmail.com. I would also love to hear from any current Philo Club members about your experiences in the club. Thanks in advance and I look forward to hearing from you all!!

If you are already in touch with a local grad chapter, they can answer any questions you might have. Do they currently have an active Philo Club? If not, are they interested in starting or reactivating their club? You cannot start a Philo Club on your own without grad chapter sponsorship and advisement. So your first order of business is to find a grad chapter that either currently has an active club or is willing to start/reactivate their club.

Some basic requirements and information:

Philos work closely with grad chapter members and assist with Sigma projects and programs in addition to hosting their own. They also attend the sorority's regional and national conferences and have their own local, regional, and national officers. Philos also believe in and support the goals and aims of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.

Potential Philos are women who believe in sisterhood and service, who want to support the aims and goals of Sigma Gamma Rho and improve their communities, and are accomplished in their own right, but do not possess BA. degrees and are not currently enrolled in a 4 yr. degree program. At least 5 women are needed to start or reactivate a club. Many Philos are the mothers, sisters, other female relatives, and friends of Sigma Gamma Rho members.

If you are interested in becoming a Philo in the Philadelphia area, please send me a PM. Otherwise contact a grad chapter in your area. Good Luck!
