Adding on to what susan314 said, I wonder where she is getting these "facts."

I had never heard "disease" as a DZ nickname and had only heard "dawg house" because of the Depauw incident.

I know Pitt isn't a large Greek school, but it is a major university and DZ here is doing wonderfully.

I also can't help but to think of the phrase "ignorance is bliss." So what if pm's are flying above his posts? If he is proud of his daughter and her happiness with her organization, let him say so! It would be one thing if he was bashing DZ and other organizations, but he's not, so who's business is it to tell him to stop?

Because, of course, it's all about your reputation on GC. Only once in my time here have I asked a mod to remove my name from a post that directly attacked me. And, that was only because I didn't want my name caught up in the mix - something I had nothing to do with and a thread I had never posted in - for anyone to come along later, Greek or non-Greek, and view.

It is NOT that serious. Who is this girl anyway? Her name doesn't come up in a search. Am I missing something?

But seriously.....BamaDad.... Dave....I value your opinions and appreciate your insight. But do you really have to announce that your daughter is a Delta Zeta at 'Bama in all of your posts? I think people here can appreciate you for you. PLENTY of people are not members of GLOs on this site.

Hmmm...I don't remember him announcing his daughter like that. Then again, those DZ threads wore me out so I quit paying attention. But, if that's what he was doing, then I'm going to have to co-sign on your advice.

I was thinking the same thing. The username didn't ring a bell to me, and even if it did, I tend not to take people's comments too seriously. To be honest, I don't know why this girl sent the PM, or why this thread was started as a result of the PM.

If you go to the memberlist and search her name, and then click on "View all posts by", you can see that she's here just to cause trouble. She deleted one of her three remaining posts, but someone kindly quoted her stupidity. ;)

Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I'm going to get flamed for this, but I don't care.

Those of you, so far, who have posted that this isn't a big deal are not members of an NPC. Perhaps that is why you don't understand how bashing an NPC for 15 paragraphs is extremely offensive.

Ordinarily, getting a nasty PM would be a private thing to deal with, but when someone suggests that there is a whole group of people on GC who are in agreement about the "status" of a certain NPC and they are all ridiculing you behind your back it's your prerogative to make it public and get other opinions.

This is upsetting to many NPC members. Obviously, you're free to disagree but I'd like to suggest that maybe you just don't get it.

Ditto

Ah yes! I do remember Cakey.

I also found it interesting according to another poster that Delta Zeta was considered a second or third teir GLO!

Actually, the ASA and Tri SSS were considered State Teacher types of school. But, it seems that some schools and GLOs have grown up or expanded.

So, I will ask a question, is there any GLO on all major campuses/campi? Is there any GLO that is strong all across the 50 States? The same thing goes for any and all GLOs whether it be male or female or no matter what ethnic background.

No, but I am a member of a large fraternity, and went to a school with NPC groups, so I think I probably "get" it.

I read the OP's post as something different than calling attention to the issue, more looking for justification from others that the PM was nasty/rude/etc.

YES.

The OP wanted a healthy and lively debate, but that's impossible because the discussion's very one-sided.

Additionally, if there is an issue, isn't it something that should be left to, at most, the DZ's in the board? Most members of other orgs aren't going to have the full story, and won't have enough of an understanding of DZ to comment intelligently on the issue.

NPC member here, and I really don't understand why it's that big of a deal.

Some people like your group, others don't. What someone on GC says about my sorority is frankly not my concern. I was an active collegian, and I am an active alumna. I have much more going on in my life than to worry about what internet cliques may or may not think about what I pledged as an 18-year old.

I see this more of a "I'm taking my ball and going home!" post than a debate spark.

I disagree b/c the post wasn't just about internal DZ related issues - it was discussing DZ's "place" or "rank" among other NPC groups nationally and was insinuating that the majority of other NPC members would hold the same/similar feelings. I don't think its inappropriate for members of other NPC groups to let BamaDad know that kaikey doesn't speak for all of us. ("Us" meaning NPC women as a group.)

Jen 05-27-2007 03:56 PM

If everyone who ever got a nasty PM left Greekchat, this place would be a ghost town.

That being said, I think the PM should have stated that Kaikey had the problem with the OP, rather than the nameless, faceless "group of GCers", whoever they are.

Kaikey also has a right to have whatever opinion she likes about DZ. Personally, I always saw DZ as a large group with many strong chapters. I lost respect for the national organization after DePauw, however.

But aside from that, I find this post ridiculous. What are you hoping to gain? A group of people to get all upset that you want to leave GC? You want to point fingers and blame someone else for the fact you chose to leave? You want sympathy, to start shit up, to out someone who had the decency to PM you private instead of dragging this shit to the public boards as you have done?

Honestly all the "My daughter's a DZ at Bama..." at the beginning of every freaking post is annoying, and strikes me as major Stage Parent Syndrome, but that's just my opinion. So I can see where Kaikey may have wanted to shut you up for five seconds of peace.

But honestly, creating a thread to whine about how mean someone was to you on GC and they made you leave? Childish. Get over it and either leave or don't leave, but quit playing the "boo hoo, wahhhh, look how mean she is to me!" card like a little kid.
