I really think I need to get measured, because I truly have NO idea what size I should be wearing.
If it is not padded, i'm around a B cup. If it is a padded bra (and not one of those Wonderbras, just a regular padded bra) then I'm a D cup. So I figured B-D=C...I should be around a C cup, right? Nooooope for the life of me, my boobs will NOT fit into any C cup bras. It is so frustrating because I know (by looking) that my breasts aren't D's...at least not full D's. Shoot my boobs are full at all, but that's another story....lol |
It seems to me that bra sizes are not as standardized as they used to be. I used to be able to pick up "my size" and it'd fit with pretty much any brand. Now I go into a fitting room with so many different cup and band sizes that I worry people think I'm the sales girl! There's no reason for me to have to try on such a range of sizes. :(

I am a hard fit, and being short doesn't help in terms of proportion. I don't mind spending $40 if it fits well and is pretty. Of course, I get one style and buy it in 5 colors. If you figure out how many wears you will get out of it, it isn't that expensive overall. Oh and I only buy VS.

I've noticed that they don't make cute small band/large cup sizes--unless you go to a place like Saks or Nordstrom and spend major money. VS certainly isn't making a 32D. It's frustrating! And it's BS that a 32D=34C or 36A.
Some of the mid-range to high-end clearance stores (Filene's Basement, Last Call, Rack, Off Fifth) have the European makers that actually cater to small band/large cups. They're not cheap at all--I found one ON CLEARANCE for $90. |

Not that I recommend them or anything. They don't seem to make 32DD however: http://www2.victoriassecret.com/sear...ize=select+one |

Endowments and Blessings...
I go to Nordstroms for their fittings. But I guess, if one is truly blessed, then Nordie's won't work.
I prefer La Perla and Neroli's. But you can only get good stuff in the Dallas Neiman Marcus off the 35. However, they don't make the fits for those who are blessed or not so blessed. On a serious note, please get properly fitted. No, you won't get breast cancer from wearing bras. But, you will suffer great discomfort needlessly. Amazing how the GC guys are not ackin' a fool up in here... |
I need to get properly fitted for bras b/c lately, my bras are now cutting into my sides like crazy and the straps are always falling down my shoulders no matter how much I adjust them. I hate it.
|
If you are really "blessed" (I am willing to give some of mine away), I highly recommend going to a bra specialty shop. Bite the bullet and once you get a good style you like, buy them online for a cheaper price

http://www.thestrapper.com I think I originally saw this for sale at Target. I had the same bra-strap-falling-off my shoulders issue, and I don't like racer backs. You put the straps of any bra through it, and it holds them in the middle of your back. I love it. |

I used to purchase all of my bras from there, because that was where everyone else I knew shopped. But after the underwires popped out, the cups started losing their shape, the straps started losing their elasticity on all of my bras after maybe 2-3 months of wear, I swore I'd never purchase another bra from VS again. (And I take good care of my undergarments too...handwash, drip dry. Its not like I washed them in the heavy duty cycle and then dried them on high heat!) P.S. I have a terrible time finding bras that fit properly too - 36 D (though since having my children I'm hovering close to a DD). I'd agree with whoever said that its harder to find a decent D in a smaller band size than 38. (Well, unless you're willing to pay an arm and a leg for a bra, or to purchase a crappy VS bra.) |
